Thanks for sharing all the details..using bookshelves is a great start to add your own custom touches. Another advantage is one can always keep expanding the units as the collection grows.

I really love and admire your display cabinet beautiful cabinet. The Ferrari Clock is just amazing wow. I am trying to buy a cabinet but don't know what sort of cabinet I should buy and where to look in to it.

Rob, how thick is the acrylic of the door? And did you ever use acrylic as shelves to put the models on?
I've always thought that yours looks so much better than anything from Ikea or whatever. Now I'm looking into building my own cabinets as well.

Congratulations Rob. This is the best showcase I've ever seen. Please, how many centimeters are between the shelves
24 cm between each front window. Then i have the riser at the back of each shelf which is 8cm high for the back row of models.

No trick, mine just stay open.

Gday Rob, fantastic cabinets, I love the idea of modular as you can grow the displays as your collection grows.. my question relates to the book cases.. can you disclose where you get yours from?
I said they were basically a book case, but I made all these cabinets as I am a cabinet maker

Hey can you recommend any good display cases I just ordered a GT Spirit RWB Porsche 911 (964) with the apple computers livery and I need a display case haha so if u can recommended me some that would be great!
You can but display cases on ebay, and also if you want nice ones with leather stitched base and clear cover, try www.BBRmodelstore.com or www.MRcollection.com

Okay, I only got one question. What did you used to get the plexiglass to open and close and get ahold on the bookcase? I’m planning on making my own display like that
The plexiglass is stuck on the back of the door frame, and the door frame has 4 BLUM cabinet hinges fitted to it and the bookcase cabinet. The hinges are a typical European style kitchen cabinet hinge. Hope that helps!

I have a question about your led what kind of led are they 5050 5630 hope u get what am saying trying to get bright ones
I used 5630 daylight in all my display cases. I don't know what Kelvin (k) they are as I have bought a few daylight led's from different suppliers and they are all different in color (k) Most suppliers will tell you that daylight is around 4500k - 5000k. The higher the k rating, the blue'r the light. The lower the k rating, the more yellow the light (warm white) I would recommend getting a few samples in different k ratings and connecting them to see what color suits you. I hope this helps.

LED's are perfectly safe for model cars. Stay away from halogen spot lights, they do damage.

Great display case and models. Would you mind telling me what the doors are made from?
Thank you, the doors are made from 16mm MDF board and are painted in gloss white 2pac polyurethane and I have used 3mm clear acrylic silicon fixed to the back of the door. I use acrylic rather than glass as it has far less reflection than glass.

240mm high between each shelf and 350mm deep from front to back.
