The DS88 is a model that I first learned about circa 2018. But for the fact that I already had a different portable Roland synthesizer, a VR-09, not to mention a Yamaha synthesizer with 88 keys, an S90XS, this model still intrigued me. I found myself comparing two different piano presets on it, “SA Piano” and “E. Grand”. (The first of the two is also on the VR-09.) I didn’t buy the testing out the vocal input section, but that is definitely a reason why I would have thought about getting a Juno DS model if I didn’t already have one of the other two instruments I mentioned above.
I just found your channel yesterday. Good overview of the Roland Juno DS 88 front panel features. I don't own a Juno DS, but I agree it is perhaps the best all around 88 key keyboard under $1200. The keyboard action and piano sounds may be the best at this price point. The phrase pads are great for song performance, as you show in your other videos.
Press menu, edit, patch edit and you will find the most amazing set of parameters to create your own patches so you can have your own sound. Highlights are 2 lfo's, boosters in TMT structures and 4 matrix controls and a step lfo.
Very very nice channel for Juno DS. I have created a performance sound and saved it. I have managed to create a loop with pattern sequencer. However i cannot play the performance sound with the new loop. How can i do so?
I’m not sure exactly cause I’ve always done the 2 separately. You can change the presets within the pattern sequencer but I’m not sure if you can add the performance sound or not. I’ll definitely have to look into that.
Headphones don’t matter as long as you have a 3.5mm adapter. It does need speakers (one on each side preferably) because it doesn’t have speakers built in. But it doesn’t matter what kind of speakers. Hope this helps!

When sustain pedal is pressed, does the current tone remain when you switch to a new tone..?
