*Has anyone found a solution for this apparently common problem with GoPro8 cameras* ? *And NO, it has nothing to do with the type of SD card or the format and I have done it all*
same issues with mine. i think my problem started after i reinstalled the firmware. it came with the latest 2.51 firmware and was working fine but i reinstalled the firmware to get rid of few dead pixels. it fixed the dead pixels but then sd errors started showing. then i flashed the labs firmware which was 2.50 but again the sd error kept showing. now it has gotten to the point where only the front screen turns on and it shows both sd and battery error! i'm using new sandisk extreme sd and original gopro battery. the customer service is not responding. gopro is a dead company with a douchebag CEO who's more interested in lavish lifestyle than improving the products. of course, US and Canadian users get easy returns and keep the hype train going online but the defective units gets resold here. i smashed my hero 8 to pieces after the third failed attempt to get a replacement.
I do. And My GoPro Hero8 Black gets stuck on formatting it. Overheats and turns off. Now trying to reformt it at PC as proposed in video linked in previous comment.
yesterday happen to me after 1 year didn't use it , 1st i install again the app from android play store GOPRO QUICK apk , and when i switch on the GOPRO hero 8 it appears that the SD CARD need to be format ,so i switch off the GOPRO and i removed the SD card and put it back again , but wait at least 10sec before you put it back again the SD , after that it works and give me to make an update from the app :) hope it work for all of you if you have the same issue
You're using a Sandisk ULTRA card. This is NOT a recommended card for GoPro's as they cause freezing issues.... 2 things are helpful when your GoPro is freezing. 1: Don't use Sandisk cards, instead switch to Samsung Evo cards, other people who have made this switch have reported no more freezing issues. 2: Freezing is usually a sign of SD card corruption. Formatting in the GoPro does NOT fix SD card issues. Here's a video that explains SD corruption and how to properly fix your SD card... ruclips.net/video/633S-6lagDI/видео.html
@Tyren Martens And did you try repairing your card? this old video will show you how to do that. ruclips.net/video/633S-6lagDI/видео.html IF you don't repair your card, you will keep getting SD Err messages.
I have the same exact problem and can confirm it is from the camera and not SD card. I have used multiple various cards of different brands, speed (Fastest read/write U3/etc) non helped and after an initial 7-10 seconds of recording, I get the same exact cycle of problems. Has anyone found a solution for this that appears to be a real flaw of the GoPro camera and the company doesn't want to honor a genuine recall or free repair for this manufacturer's defect. GoPro is really going in the wrong direction and despite being a fan of this company from day one, the latter models suck and they do not support or are not behind their name. I'm surely going to try a different brand this time especially since there are so many great new manufacturers with similar of better features out there. *SURRY GOPRO BUT YOU ARE LOSING ME*
