      Good comment, except the bacteria that causes Legionnaire's disease multiplies in water that is not kept a certain high temperature or cold enough. It is commonly found in municipal water, too, so likely in his system.
      In other words, by allowing hot water to feed back into the fresh water tank, he is warming it enough to encourage the bacteria to multiply, most likely.
      The Center for Disease Control has info on safe water temperatures and preventing Legionnaire's disease.

    • @carlacowling1789
      @carlacowling1789 4 года назад +9

      I'll look again but I think he said he had a one micron filter and UV. "For most, one micron is enough. It is estimated that this size of filter will remove 99.9% of all bacteria from water. If your water supply has already been treated with chlorine then a lot of these bacteria will no longer be present in the water anyway, and the filtration is more effective for heavy metals and other materials."

    • @wownewstome6123
      @wownewstome6123 4 года назад +8

      @Southern Note, thanks, good point on the filter and UV light - as long as it's for the shower and dishwashing water, too, because people have inhaled the bacteria during those activities.

    • @corbonzo1
      @corbonzo1 4 года назад +4

      @@wownewstome6123 I think you may be over thinking that specific issue. He mentioned he has a 75 gallon water tank, a little bit of warm water (not even a gallons worth) put into such a large tank isn't going to impact the temp enough to cause problems

    • @wownewstome6123
      @wownewstome6123 4 года назад +7

      @Q. E. D., in the end, he may be doing just fine. My concerns: it's a monkey see, monkey do world, but people may miss his extra steps, such as the UV light. Also, when filters remove the disinfectants, such as chlorine, then bacteria can multiply unhindered.
      Plus, I just mentioned **one of the many** biological contaminants that can cause health issues.

    This is absolutely awesome ! I’d put the bikes on a rack at the back and the spare tire on a swivel system, use some of that garage space for minimalist outdoor kitchen. Add an awning and a winch and this rig is a real dream!

    Impressive conversion.
    A lot of comments about dead or suffering people in ambulances. Not only was it that this one was only used at Yellowstone for ten years, more likely saving lives, treating exposure, dehydration and bee stings, but also, what does it matter. Don't people realize that many subways, bridges, dams and hotels, etc. have had deaths occur in their construction ? How many homes do they think there are in which the owner had died in it.

    Hi Tom, I love your video, your no-nonsense, straight shooter, tell-it-as-it-is explanations, your stringent line of reasoning and the structured approach you took to building your vehicle. You know what you're doing and you know how to keep it real, rather than posturing and fluffing and huffing, like so many others do in their videos. Well done. Keep those videos coming and keep enjoying your journey!

      Phantomedic Oh yeah- I’m with you on that! - I was trying to calculate how much money went into this-but since I have no concept of these components it was beyond my abilities. I was thinking it had to be in the 6 digits - way more than This old woman could handle- but I can’t even afford a used minivan at the moment! Lol. (I can dream!) But- it’s his home and for a person with the resources his sticks and bricks home would have cost far more and used way more planetary resources. So he really lowered his resource footprint and being able to do all the work himself is so amazing! This really is an impressive rig. I love the ambulance as a home. So much is already there in terms of storage and electric you could basically move right in and change it up incrementally as you see what works for you.
      But I digress- in answer to your question- HELL YEAH! Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket now and then.

      @@ohmercy5924 I think he probably could have gotten this done for around $40-50K. He did the work himself and repurposed a lot of the electrics from the ambulance, so that saved a ton right there. But that solar system couldn't have been cheap. He probably paid $20K for the ambulance, another $20K on everything else, and I don't even think he spent that much. He seems like he's good at repurposing materials, so I think he probably did well with the cost on this, especially for how robust and good looking the thing is.

      i would even go so far as to recirculate the shower water itself.and use the same shower water to shower every day. empty it and clean it out like once a month. there is no reason to dump that grey water. have it circulate through a nice filter or just a filter made of sand and you are a ok. you dont even have to do all that. germ phobes could even just add some bleach or chlorine tabs into the grey water tank . it just soap water, not drinking water.

    • @Walkerswell
      @Walkerswell 3 года назад

      YourMajesty143 lol, wtf you think ‘recirculates’ means? It’s means you’re ‘recirculating’ the used water over and over, not fresh water. Sure you probably add a little more fresh to top up and filter the old water, but if you pee you’re gonna get filtered pee water back on you.
