And we can see Tyler's growth and change and victory just by listening to different albums and it tells us that we can have that too.
When I was eleven I was all alone in the world and very suicidal and I used to write song lyrics and poems late at night when I was at my worst and looking back they aren't very different than this...I know all too well this state of mind and I'm so proud of Tyler for having not only the courage for sharing it with the world but also for overcoming it and being happy now

Theory: When the songs says "but come this September you will fly on your own, but it wont get much better" Tyler is around 17-18 so he is getting ready for college in the September and he got a really good basketball scholarship (read in an interview), which would be the letter he got. At college, Tyler must "find his home" or his purpose in basketball. However Tyler's passion isn't really in basketball, its in music, so "it won't get much better". Tyler doesn't want the scholarship to go to waste so he tries "so hard to fly, but my heart win't go very far" his heart won't go far because his heart isn't in basketball anymore. Tyler's hands will start bleeding because he isn't creating or fulfilling purpose. The whole rap is kind of straight forward, he makes plans that seem solid but will take him where he doesn't know. In the end, the floor will turn to a hole in the ground because he is mentally dying due to not creating/finding his true purpose. The end, its just a theory but that is my interpretation. Sorry if its confusing :)
Oh man, absolutely love the vast majority of his lyrics. One of the few people I can really relate to. Listening to him as himself as well as TOP has actually brought me closer to God. When I learned that Tyler was religious I loved his music that much more. Thanks for this...I mean it.

I don't wanna be rude but I rather tell you then someone else that be more rude but the lyric is actually "as you watch him fall through a blatant trapdoor" I always thought it was bleeding trapdoor but it's not, I had to learn the hard way
I guess it's just "his metaphor". He writes songs to deal with emotions and the metaphor of falling through holes in the ground could be used when he feels helpless or when he's being let down by something or someone he really trusted. And so every time he writes a song and he feels this way he'll use this metaphor because he feels like it fits the situation the best. But it's only guessing but as a songwriter myself that seems like a logical explanation.

The last line makes me so sad. He's describing depression as a metaphorical hole in ground but that his depression will eventually lead to his suicide and that hole of emptiness becoming the literal hole of his grave. It just breaks my heart that Tyler ever felt that way.

This song always makes me think of walking through a peaceful neighborhood at night and although everything is calm it seems a little unsettling and for some reason I get very nostalgic when I listen to this. Like I think of a time when I was probably 6 or 7 years old, and it's very specific, which usually doesn't happen because my memory is awful

i know this song is years old but sometimes it’s cool to look back at songs from this album and regional at best and see how tyler has changed and overcome his depression. this is one of the few of tyler’s songs that speak to me on an almost personal level. i know no matter how many times i listen to this, the words wont change but the meaning does. it’s crazy to think this was wrote while tyler was 16. just think about what was going through his head while he wrote this. it’s amazing how music can change us, and how someone who doesn’t even know i exist can impact my life to much. no matter how old this song gets, it’ll always have its meaning engraved in my mind and i thank tyler for this. all he suffered through is helping us get through the gray patches in life we might be struggling through. thanks for reading if anyone cared enough to read this. stay alive friends. it’s worth it. i swear.

Theory:
When the songs says "but come this September you will fly on your own, but it wont get much better" Tyler is around 17-18 so he is getting ready for college in the September and he got a really good basketball scholarship (read in an interview), which would be the letter he got. At college, Tyler must "find his home" or his purpose in basketball. However Tyler's passion isn't really in basketball, its in music, so "it won't get much better". Tyler doesn't want the scholarship to go to waste so he tries "so hard to fly, but my heart win't go very far" his heart won't go far because his heart isn't in basketball anymore. Tyler's hands will start bleeding because he isn't creating or fulfilling purpose. The whole rap is kind of straight forward, he makes plans that seem solid but will take him where he doesn't know. In the end, the floor will turn to a hole in the ground because he is mentally dying due to not creating/finding his true purpose. The end, its just a theory but that is my interpretation. Sorry if its confusing :)

I guess it's just "his metaphor". He writes songs to deal with emotions and the metaphor of falling through holes in the ground could be used when he feels helpless or when he's being let down by something or someone he really trusted. And so every time he writes a song and he feels this way he'll use this metaphor because he feels like it fits the situation the best. But it's only guessing but as a songwriter myself that seems like a logical explanation.

The last line makes me so sad. He's describing depression as a metaphorical hole in ground but that his depression will eventually lead to his suicide and that hole of emptiness becoming the literal hole of his grave. It just breaks my heart that Tyler ever felt that way.

i know this song is years old but sometimes it’s cool to look back at songs from this album and regional at best and see how tyler has changed and overcome his depression. this is one of the few of tyler’s songs that speak to me on an almost personal level. i know no matter how many times i listen to this, the words wont change but the meaning does. it’s crazy to think this was wrote while tyler was 16. just think about what was going through his head while he wrote this. it’s amazing how music can change us, and how someone who doesn’t even know i exist can impact my life to much. no matter how old this song gets, it’ll always have its meaning engraved in my mind and i thank tyler for this. all he suffered through is helping us get through the gray patches in life we might be struggling through. thanks for reading if anyone cared enough to read this. stay alive friends. it’s worth it. i swear.

I remember over a year ago when I heard this song, I was sobbing, literal streams of tears, I'm not an emotional person, but this song hit me, "My own two hands will start bleeding again" does this mean self harm? His screams and yells for help at 17 years old in his basement. In a video where Kelly was interviewed she said "he would be screaming in the basement and I would Ask if he was okay" agh, this man even said "I don't think i'll make it past 18" but 10 years later, look where he is.
