you never have to pay an US employer to get a visa because they are the one who will be sponsoring (paying for all costs associated with the process) your visa process in the USA. What you need to do is find a US employer who will hire you and sponsor your visa process. So basically, you have to apply for jobs in the USA and once a company hires you, if they accept, they will sponsor your H1B visa process.

So unless there is something that donut shop that requires a bachelor or some type of specialty that an American or green card resident cannot do, then it probably won't be granted. This done to prevent employers from giving preference to non-immigrants workers in low skill jobs.
