Beautiful. I live in Maluku with my Indonesian wife. I can attest to the fact that this Eastern region of Indonesia is a hidden gem with its diving areas, historic locations being the original Spice Islands the world was looking for 500 years ago. Forget Bali, this area is the true Indonesia in all its beauty.❤
Awesome trip Sam, just beautiful, and excellent footage and editing !!! Thanks for showing some of my fave places I have yet to see and dive, the special far out ones that the crowds seem to miss, thankfully. And sailing there on a really sweet phinisi ship with a dedicated crew. Priceless. . . Makasi banyak. . .
I really appreciate the effort you put in this amazing yet incredible video footage. Simply difficult, time and cost consuming to do underwater video. Well done
I love Alor I 1st came there in 2004 we had an old map hired our tanks from pak Dennys put them in a bemo n hired a small boat. After that I was hooked n came back ever year n worked as a dive guide from 2008 til 2017 last year I went back with a diving friend wow a pod of 30 dolphins whilst diving n we saw mola2 after the dives snorkeling n I spotted 2 pigmy blue whales. The thresher at Pura didn't turn up but loads of other stuff. BTW 24dg is not cold for Alor it can drop to 17dg n at some places even 13 or 14dg . N maybe 5 or 6 time per year between kepa n alor kecil the water drops to 11 or 12 dg it stuns the fish n they float to the surface wow birds dolphins people in canoes n mola2 . Lovely video I get nostalgic 😂
AMAZING ADVENTURE!!! And equally amazing video:) thanks for sharing 🩵🩵🩵 inspo for next scuba trip for sure. You had the best scuba buddy, Raquel 🙌🏻🙌🏻 a bundle of joy that one !!
Yes I would love to spend much more time that and base myself on land and go with a local operator. It’s great on a Liveaboard but we only scratched the surface. I think Q1 2025 I’ll be there for a few weeks
Wow! It doesn't get much better than that, right?! Truly an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing such an incredible video and informations. I Hope to see that someday. 🙏👌
I've crossed the seas but still doesn't dare to look inside with my own eyes so thank you for capturing it all for us. Pretty fantastic to say the least from my untrained mountainman eyes 😂
Ring of fire underwater adventure was exciting apparently. Amazing shot of the coral reefs, sharks and other fishes ❤❤❤. Awesome footage of the Abui tribe folk dance👍👍👍. Legend of hobbits in Teun island was a fascinating story.
What an AMAZINGGGGGG video… we, Indonesian, aren’t as lucky as you guys, most of us can’t spend a month or so to do a dive trip. It cost a lot 🥲🥲🥲🥲 but I do really wanna do that someday… Keep going sam 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Great to hear you liked the video. My friend organise some trips that suit the Indonesian holiday periods. Quite good and short trips. His name Dimas Sightsea. Check out in IG
most place in indonesia has been visited so often that underwater live become to familiar with human, I think this remote island sea and underwater live is more lifely than most tourist place
Hi Sam. Absolutely love your documentaries! Can't believe we get to watch these for free - thank you for making such inspiring content! I am advanced certified diver myself. I would love to go on a liveboard like this and explore eastern indonesia. However, the prices for a cruise with Konjo is out of my budget. Is it possible to find more budget-friendly options in this region? Thank you very much. Joel
Keren banget bang Sam. Do you need translator? Maybe its a good idea to put a translate in Bahasa. So the Indonesian that don't speak english still can enjoy your video? I would like to help out if you want :)
This looks amazing, can’t wait for part 2, but why did you put footage from the Komodo to Raja Ampat video from two years ago. Was the visibility not good?
Well spotted! I used a couple of good shots from that trip from Alor. But most alor shots are from the latest trips. Only mantis shrimp and frog fish I reused I think
what a wonderful trip, as indonesian im so jealous with ur explore since im the real inhabitant never explore deeply to the beauty of Alor... i hope u can share us how much it cost to rent this ship for scuba diving? i want it so bad as well🙏🏻
Sam can I ask which dive site in alor that you saw the thresher shark it didn't look like a puri or Mata on Pura n the deep rocks looked like batu kelelaka.. but that is on of just pantar. My friend Reinhart discover that site. Yes dive on end of in coming or out going.. do not dive it with current seriously dangerous haha😂
I can’t remember exactly which dive site we saw the thresher shark but please note that the video is made up of many different dive sites. I used some other clips before the thresher shark sighting. Editors rights and all that..
Yes just a very thin INON diopter.. can’t remember which one exactly but not very strong. RX100vii has a 200mm lens already. But that little diopter helps close focus very good
Yes most boats do that. Some sites are not really suitable for snorkelling though, and it’s better to check with them to make sure they have a dedicated guide for you. It’s better to have a boat with a few other snorkelers too. Otherwise it’s only diving, diving diving and the snorkelers get kind of forgotten about… that being said, plenty of boats offer it and the price is less for non divers. Suggest you talk with Alex @ Konjo Cruising Indonesia
@@IndoWild I visited there several times.and really interesting to the mist about this lake,Native said nobody dare to dive there because the monster like Loch Ness.

Thank you for showing your video setup! How did you do the macro shots though? Do you swap your lens?
Ahh yes I didn’t show the macro lens. But the wide angle just screws off and I have 2x macro wet diopters
Technically, those sandals made from rubber which is from the tree 😁
🤣🤣🤣

Yes just a very thin INON diopter.. can’t remember which one exactly but not very strong. RX100vii has a 200mm lens already. But that little diopter helps close focus very good
The dramatic narration 😂 😂 😂

Do they have packages where one passenger is a diver and the other can snorkel instead? Is that something that liveaboards can offer?
Yes most boats do that. Some sites are not really suitable for snorkelling though, and it’s better to check with them to make sure they have a dedicated guide for you. Did you see that current ?? Gotta be careful around Alor. Experienced divers only 😊😊
I think I saw wolverine in this video
🤣🤣
How much did it cost you for that trip in $USD? Thanks. Big fan.
yeah, same in €.

the picture quality can be better, new camera maybe?. Still love your content tho
It’s my old camera. Most of the underwater footage is 1080HD not 4K
You mean the Arafura sea 😂
You're clean-shaven while diving. Does completely shaving off your mustache help you get a better mask seal for yourself?
@@cleanlife1305 absolutely! Without shaving at least my upper lip it’s leaking all the time
Amazing !
Glad you think so!
