@@chaseknowls4624 It's about the ancient roman city of Pompeii which was destroyed when the volcano Mt. Vesuvius erupted some 2000 years ago, and it was buried under the ash so quickly that the people living there immediately died where and as they were. When it was rediscovered, they found what you could call full-body ash casts, each perfectly in shape of the person that used to be there - so much so that it was possible to fill the casts with a sculpting material and fully recreate the bodies they belonged to.

Pompeii is a vast archaeological site in southern Italy’s Campania region, near the coast of the Bay of Naples. Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried under meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The preserved site features excavated ruins of streets and houses that visitors can freely explore.

I was working at an adolescent girls group hone where all the girls were heavily into rap. They used to call me Earth Muffin because I work Doc Martin's and Birkenstocks. It was a somewhat of a misnomer though, since I was more of an Alternative new wave chick. Anyway, they used to get kind of annoyed when I drove them around, because I played all my "weird" music. But Cities in Dust, especially the extended version, was universally loved and I was always asked to blast out on the van speakers. Just a testament to what a great song this is!

I listen to a lot of heavy metal. A lot of metal bands draw inspiration from bands like this. I have always liked this band. They're very unique.
