In my opinion they were not required to produce the functionality requested in the task. Generally i only utilize the semi-colons when i need the treatment of positive;negative;zero;text values to display differently.
@@CarshaltonAdvisory i mean like on this video, how can i choose the degree symbol without typing it through shortcut while the cell format dialog box is opened
@abdo jaho I'd be amazed if the exam would require you to add a symbol that wasn't easily accessed via the keyboard. If they did, you could enter the desired symbol into a blank cell in your worksheet (Insert>Symbol on the ribbon) and then copy the symbol to your clipboard from the formula bar. Then you could paste the symbol into the custom number format dialog box (just don't forget to delete the cell on your worksheet with the symbol you copied once you are done).
THANKYOU!
Why didn't you use semi-colons for the 98.6 temperature custom number format?

My laptop doesn't do the ALT +0176. Is there another way to get the degree symbol ?
On the 'Insert' tab on Excel's ribbon select 'Symbol' on the far right. The degree symbol is in the Subset 'Latin-1 Supplement'
Do i have to memorize the symbol shortcuts? 😱😱
No, no need to memorize and the mouse works fine on the exam. The mouse is just slower and would make for longer videos.
