@@Primal-Mythos it will work like this: your character will be a person in the City with the Mythos of Optimus Prime. You have a few Logos themes representing your everyday life and a few Mythos themes representing your Optimus Prime powers. For example, Bastion to make your character as durable as Optimus Prime. And take it from there...
So, I have a character based on the Nimian lion who has the bastion card of invulnerability, and the expression ability of claws capable of cutting through anything. In combination with the training logos of being an MMA fighter this character was a force to be feared in a fight and if he got up close it was game over for whoever was on the receiving end of his rage.
Have you see "Mexican Jedi" - Trevor Noah, well definitely my first City of Mist character will that. RELIC (Lightsaber), DEFINING RELATIONSHIP (La familia), PERSONALITY (Confidence), ROUTINE or TRAINING (TSA Agent)
So, for my character of the Philadelphia Experiment that is Teleportation, Time Manipulation, and Invisibility I would need: Mobility for Teleportation, Subversion for Invisibility, and either Adaption or Divination for Time Manipulation.
A Hestia mythos that has mobility (teleport through cities and buildings) and divination (channel the spirit of a location). They might be city planner, or a social activist fighting urban decay or gentrification
If I get to join a game as a player I'll probably have my PI character's Mythos be Sekhmet the mythical Egyptian Goddess of the Sun, War, Healing, and Protection. With her Mythos tag be Adaption in the form of Heliokinesis which is basically Pryokinesis, fused with Photokinesis in that she can call upon Sekhmet's powers to not only unleash the flames, and hot winds of the sun, but also the power of the sun's light for various means offense including augmenting the power and damage of her revolver's bullets with the sun's fire and light, but also channeling the power of the sun's fire and light through her revolver to fire out bullets made out of the sun's fire and light, and of course various projectiles and other forms of Heliokinetic attacks, and defensive/support means including Heliokinetic barriers, Heliokinetic shields, and calling upon the power of the Sun to heal and cure injuries and diseases, and if need be give certain baddies nasty nasty potentially fatal skin cancer, 3rd to possibly 4th degree, to possibly fatal burns. As for the 2nd Mythos I was thinking either Bastion to play more on the fact that Sekhmet is the Goddess of Healing and Protection, or Expression to allow my character to assume a partial, or full transformation into a Lioness/Human hybrid form complete with the claws, teeth, enhanced senses, strength, speed, agility, senses, and instincts. With the weaknesses being a fiery temper as Sekhmet was known for having a nasty temper when angered that could if left unchecked lead to a primal bloodthirsty rage, and is somewhat of a alcoholic including getting easily drunk to play on the fact one of the myths involving Sekhmet told how her primal bloodthirsty rage was calmed down by her father Ra when he tricked her into getting drunk and hungover by drinking a whole bowl of beer that was colored blood-red resulting in one of the festivals dedicated to worshipping her in ancient Egypt being essentially a giant pub-crawl/drinking festival.
So if I wanted to draw from Estinien, the Azure Dragoon, for inspiration, or just dragoons from final fantasy in general, I'd probably want to aim for the Mobility themebook for those lovely dragoon jumps, and expression for the more draconic abilities? Maybe relic if I want to have a special spear. interesting.
My character is a paper boy that works for the City's main news agency who has the mythos of Hermes. I'm not sure if he should start with the Relic of Hermes's winged shoes or Mobility speed powers.
how would i make iskander from fate zero and medusa from fate stay night. fate is one of my favorite franchises and i think this system is the one where i can play my fantasty as a noble servant
The system is built for characters who have a singular Mythos. That said, some mythoi represent multiple entities (such as Robin Hood's Merry Men) or a Rift with one Mythos could pick up a Relic of another Mythos. In these cases, the mythoi could either cooperate or react against each other. Either way, should be fun to play out!
Of course! Can your technomancer draw data from machines instantly (Divination)? Does he have a gadget for every occasion (Adaptation)? A portable combat suit (Bastion)? If that's not enough, there's also four more Mythos themebooks from the Shadows & Showdowns expansion we'll be going over in a later video!
say can someone have multiple of the same theme books? like Rift of Molly Carpenter subversion based in her invisibility subversion based in her mind magic possession based on a pistol (This is the City) possession based on outfits of all occasions
In general, you can only have one of each themebook per character. For your specific example, think about what you want from each of those abilities. For the possessions, consider listing the pistol and her outfits as power tags under the same theme. Subversion for invisibility totally works, and mind magic could work for many other themes such as Divination (if used to find information), Expression (for psychic attacks), or even Bastion (for making your mind a mental fortress).
Huh cool, so does this mean that I could potentially play as someone with the Mythos of like say...Optimus Prime?
You sure can!
@@CityofMist Oh wow! I'm honestly surprised! Though I wonder how having this would even work in this game?

my character will be immune to getting arrested
Awesome, thank you

I think I'd go for a balance and pick Adaptation and Mobility for my Themes. Fast and Flexible!
What would summoning various (sometimes magical) weapons and treasures from magic portals be? And shooting them out at people.
Are you talking about Gilgamesh form the Fate series?
Sounds like Conjuration, a themebook that will be covered in our next video, later this week!
@@Darkningvolt yeah you got it!

what happens if your character has two or three different mythos.
The system is built for characters who have a singular Mythos. That said, some mythoi represent multiple entities (such as Robin Hood's Merry Men) or a Rift with one Mythos could pick up a Relic of another Mythos. In these cases, the mythoi could either cooperate or react against each other.

Using this, I wonder how one would make Harry Dresden? Maybe make his Mythos... Merlin?
If you want to play someone like Harry Dresden, you could have the Mythos actually be Harry Dresden. Merlin is also good if you want to go for that
My brain is melting, maybe i should stick to dnd.
I think its just the names that make it so confusing
Could a technomancer work?
Of course! Can your technomancer draw data from machines instantly (Divination)? Does he have a gadget for every occasion (Adaptation)? A portable combat suit (Bastion)?

@@CityofMist ok although my main question is that if there is a rule against it.
Like the rule for only 1 board power tag.
@@HestiaVesta It's a recommendation (pg. 65 of the Player's Guide), but not a hard rule. At your table, you can play however you want!
