Definite sound difference! Awesome. Have a K&N 63 series on the way for my '15 Taco. :) Looking forward to it.
Interesting to note the "stock" configuration hit 60mph around 5,100rpm.
The K&N configuration shifted at 4,500rpm at about 55mph. Then hit 60mph at 3,500rpm.
Assuming all else was the same (throttle position, etc) that's intresting to me.
Jerimiah Reece We were trying to make it hit redline in that one gear, but we couldn't duplicate the run we did with the stock intake. We should have put the shifter in 3 instead of Drive

Yes, you taking the time to record the before and after in all of these different videos was very helpful. It would of been interesting to see a low rpm drive by, I notice the biggest and most pleasant sound increase when in the 2-3k rpm range when I'm in the taco.
Had to look this up got a k&n in my xrunner friend asked me what kine air filter i got totally forgot how stock sounded
It changed the sound completely
Next is the hypo chip. To get the best performance with the intake and Borla exhaust system. Then put it on a dyno.

+Ty Pilkington I thought about that mod but never got around to it. It looks like an easy way to add a little HP, maybe better mpg and better response on the gas pedal. I'd research as much as you can to see the advantages and disadvantages.

No! It won’t effect that in any way.

yeh, we normally use K&N. The store was out when we got this one.
+Bros FOURR Speed from the testing I have seen the stock Toyota oil filter is the best one. It has more filter media than other brands. And are only $6-$7 at the dealership. Not saying the k&n are bad, just the stock ones are great and a good value.
Good point. Toyota is definitely not going to skimp out on their brand filter.

Ashish Prakash If I did, it is like 1 or 2mpg better. Its not a significant amount.
Is there a seat of the pants difference? I put a AEM dry flow element and there's no noticeable difference at all, also have free flowing exhaust. 4.0 drinks the fuel , any suggestions? I put new Plugs and cleaned the mass air flow.
Do you think it's better the get the intake than the air filter ?

I sold it a few years later. Never had any engine issues. The 6in lift I had installed ruined it tho, thats why I sold it. Bought a 2017 brand new and now have 40k on it. Check out our Tacoma playlist to see the hundreds of mods we've done on it

Nice wheels. I believe they're the xsp edition wheels? are those wheels heavier than the standard 16 inch trd wheels? How has your gas mileage changed?

Kinda just in general. I never really calculated it much. But closer to 17 city and 22 highway.
I have one on my truck and it sounds mean! 2010 Toyota Tacoma and it hauls ass! 488 gear in the rear

How'd you make your dash radio and side vents carbon fiber?
That's how the truck came as part of the XSP package! But you can buy kits like this from carid or other sites like that!
I would stick to stock paper filter. Those cold air intakes don't have any performance gains on the tacoma and are crap at filtration.
Never had a single issues with an aftermarket or intake on any vehicle over 15 or so years.
How much are they and are they hard to install

Never had to have that done, so I'm not sure one that!
Any problems with the MAF getting dirty from the oiled filter.
Never had an issue. Out 2007 4runner had about 160k on it with a K&N filter with no issues.

sounds nicer, but did you dyno it before and after to check for performance increase?
I did not, the only increase in power I felt was really in the higher rpm range, not significant, but enough to feel.
Did you lose any low end torque.

It came on the truck as a part of the XS-P package, but you can order full kits from CarID.com.

It looks like the stock pick up faster than k&n.
No these don't add any HP at all. They may ad 10 HP depending on how the ECU is programed. But you won't feel a crazy difference. I probably just drove it slightly different

Air ride systems are a much better fit for Tacoma 262 hp all the way up to 320. A lot better just with bolt on

Y'all realize this is a "Tacoma" right! who puts an intake, expensive ass Borla exhaust and chips a "tacoma" ? are you gonna run it with racing slicks as well, cause mine is stock and it spins tires the entire 1st gear. not to mention guzzles gas like a bitch!
This truck isn't chipped at all or tuned, just has a nice cat back system and the intake. A lot of trucks today have exhausts, gives it a nice tone, but it's also a preference. Glad you enjoy your stock truck, I prefer a nice sounding exhaust, and the intake gives it a great sound too. Everyone has mod preferences and this is what I liked on this truck..
Any problems with the mass air flow sensor
Nope, just plug right into the new pipe. I disconnected the battery before the install so it could reset with the new system.
