@Delta Fuxtrot financial failure? I think you got some dirt in your eyes. It wasn't financial failure but a phasing error due to lots of characters involved.
Toby was the ultimate Spider Man. It’s as complex a character as they come. Toby’s talent is undeniable and I know he will age well. We can wait Toby ! Take your time man.
"With great power, comes great responsibility" Learning from his mistakes after reaching so high. Truly he's the Peter Parker in our universe, his name is just Tobey.
What I don't like about some people talking about Tobey is that they make him look like a failure. "Alcoholic, gambler etc what a waste." Everyone even famous people have their problems what matters is that they change and start life again. That is what matters the most. Tobey to me will always be a great actor and I wish him the best in life.
MOST movie stars, tv stars, and rock stars are ALCOHOLIC GAMBLERS! Hell, trying to become a movie star etc is SUPER-GAMBLING. And even the A-listers are BROKEN HEARTED EVERY DAY. (EX: you don't think Tom Cruise wanted to play Batman? Wolverine? Etc??)
Tell me about it. Putting the words “Alcoholic, gambler” on the thumbnail felt disrespectful, crude and unnecessary. Good video, but the thumbnail feels way to clickbaitey and is false.
Been his fan since I was 5 years old. I just want him to succeed and show this world that his acting has got depth, emotion and brilliance. He is the GOAT.
Tobey is literally the reason why I took up acting at 12. I was bullied quite a bit when I was young and seeing Peter Parker grow more confident inspired me on a personal level. I lost weight and began learning how to box. Now I have been on background roles for productions in Austin, TX, it's only up from here. I hope to meet Tobey one day and hopefully for him to be proud of my work. Also Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland are great actors but Tobey Maguire will always be my definitive Spider-Man Edit: Thank you all for the support. I also wanted to shout out Willem Dafoe as another inspiration of mine, such a menacing actor even in No Way Home. Love the Goblin Helmet so much that I created concept art of a superhero with a similar design.
Not the case for Andrew, he is still associated with his role in the Social Network as Eduardo (the iconic Macbook scene lol), and his role in Hacksaw Ridge is very remembered as well. Andrew somehow managed to break out of the Spiderman shell. We'll yet have to see for Tom Holland, but considering his off-and on-screen charisma, he'll probably break out of it too.
Not necessarily true, there are actors that can break out of their most well known roles. A perfect example of this recently is Robert Pattinson. Yes he's still known as Edward but now he's known for his recent movies like Lighthouse because he's so talented. Now he'll be known as Batman further distancing himself from Edward
Tobey is my childhood Hero and always will be. I have also fought with Darkness then achieved alot. Struggled with Alcoholism, fell, stood right back up. Life is not easy, it isn't meant to be. We must stay humble and keep going forward.
He might had lost almost everything but one thing he has never lose is his true fans that always standby his side no matter how dark it is, who is he, he is Spiderman he is Peter Parker that we grow up and love.
Dude Spiderman 3 made the most in the box office .budget was 283 million Box office was 890 million... Pretty sure that is not a flop Spiderman 2 was received very well therefore many people went to see Spiderman 3. Critically it wasn't well received but I don't think it was that bad at the time. Considering there were not that many other comic book movies. ...
If I remember correctly, you gotta make triple your budget before it starts making profit. (Ticket sales are split 3 ways, studio/cinema/tax) Spider-Man 3 budget was like 300m, and massively underperformed compared to what they were expecting, plus it was critically panned. :(
@@IllBeDARNd oh I didn't consider that. Your e probably right.. I still have a problem though because it's pretty close... and I just remember it breaking a record at the timev( until/after pirates 2 or something) at least on opening day It was the most expensive but was also the highest grossing of the whole trilogy I think"failed at the box office" would still be a less than accurate statement at least.... Panned or not it made records
True, Spider-Man 3 definitely isn’t perfect but nowadays I see people actually starting to like the movie now but the movie definitely didn’t flop at all like it made way more than the budget
Wasn't a flop, but definitely poorly executed. Spider-Man 3 should of been Sandman and Peter then, Venom (the symbiot lands on earth), and the scene where Venom takes over Peter's suit is shown while Aunt May's words play "Sometimes it can take us over" at the end. Leaving the audience in suspense on a cliff hanger, so the next three films are dark. And the relationship between Peter and Eddie developes and goes sour, Harry starts to lose his sanity. By Spider-Man 6 you have Venom and Carnage, Cletus Cassidy kills Harry in the mental hospital, but Harry tells him who Spider-Man is. So yeah not a bad film, but what I listed off could of happened. A trilogy with the black suit, Spider-Man 5, you get the church scene as a cliff hanger. It makes more sense for Harry to go through a mental decline, not becoming his friend's enemy imo. Plus finding out his father almost killed him, so his mental health slowly deteriorates and etc. Plus Venom could of looked better.
Wow. I always looked up to Tobey and subconsciously (to a certain extent) felt the pain he has carried on the inside, and I've never met the man. I look up to him even more now. Thank you, Biographer.

Yeah, I wondered about that part as well. The movie made around 890m. On top of that the Great Gatsby was a big hit as well making around 350m but that detail is left out as well. Tobey did gamble but there is nothing to suggest he was a gambling addict.
Learning from mistakes is a tough job.. And he did it. Yes, I am a bit disappointed because he turned out like that but hey! He learnt from his mistakes. He is my childhood and no one can replace this iconic Peter Parker. Andrew and Tom are great too but Tobey is exceptional.

When they added his suit in the Marvel Spider-Man game, I struggle to use the others. His one feels right and brings back sooo many feel good memories. Crawling up buildings during a sunset 🌆 is the best
I think it's worth mentioning that Spider-Man 3 did not fail at the box office by any means. While it certainly did among critics, the 3rd movie was in fact the highest grossing of Raimi's trilogy and Sony/Columbia's highest ever until Skyfall in 2012.
Now i understand what is different between Tobey, Andrew and Tom. It's not the age. Tobey has been through a lot before spiderman. He has a long journey with a lot of experiences. He is a trully actor. He has a clearly cinematic vibe, what tom and andrew doesn't show much. The making of firts SP triology was surely hard and dangerous, that's why it was so real and i almost lose my breath in some scence and fights, Tobey did a really good job. Now with all that CGI and green screen, it all looks like some kind of joke, can't make me feel anything.
I appreciate the clean narration. It’s nice to hear a informative/educational biography without having the loud obnoxious sound effects and memes added randomly or the narrator trying to be funny like other RUclipsrs might do. Very informal, simple and well worded and easy to understand. Thank you!
I loved every version of Spiderman, each actor made it their role... SPOILER ALERT: but it wasn't until "No Way home" that I realized I had a favorite... the moment Maguire showed up on screen I had goose bumps.. and he was my favorite version
Spiderman 3 grosses nearly $900 milllion, tobey maguire's career ends...according to this video. I haven't understood to this day, I just assumed it was his personal choices and not his acting skills or ability to rake in money, without him the avengers movies may never have even been made.
Honestly, i always love tobey maguire in the spiderman movies, but after seeing Seabiscuit I really enjoyed him as an actor and Brothers made me realise how great he is
22:47 "Spider man 3 failed at the box office" WRONG. It was a HUGE success at the box office 895MILLION . It made MORE then Spiderman 1 (825million) and Spiderman 2 (788million). IIt did get poor reviews though.
As an alcoholic (recovered/recovering 9 years), I don't happen to think we need to point out how he "screwed up." As someone who also lost everything but my life, my heart goes out to him. I have nothing but good wishes for him and his family. This is an infernal illness (it's an illness, declared so by the AMA in 1953) which steals mind, body and spirit. We're lucky, though, because we can recover one day at a time.
Imagine an alternate reality where Chef Maguire was a famous tv chef that has a massive empire of restaurants, cookware, and books based on his culinary prowess.
Tobey is the Spidey goat. Loved him in "Seabiscuit", "Ciderhouse Rules", and "Pleasantville". Can't wait for "Babylon". Great job mentioning some of the roles he doesn't get enough credit for. I thought Tobey's performance in "The Spoils of Babylon" was hysterically funny tho' I have to admit it took me a couple of episodes before I stopped wondering what kind of series I was committing time to.😉
I think that Tobey Maguire is such a great actor in the film industry. I have been thinking about the whole $10,000,000 gamble thing before Hollywood and its interesting that someone has done it after Hollywood, which is interesting. I can't wait to see him in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Andrew Garfield as well. It's nice hearing that he was a vegetarian before transitioning to veganism as that's a really healthy diet I am thinking about going into myself someday. But so far, I genuinely love this actor and can't wait to see some more of his brilliant work in the future when he eventually gets around to it.
Wow, he's led an incident filled life. Hard to grasp that he's actually 46 now and has been around for quite a while. The time has flown by , mind you when you look at the iconic body of work someone like Clint Eastwood or Steve McQueen had already accomplished by the same age it does put things into perspective. I hope he has learned from his mistakes and gets a chance to resurrect his career (after all that's what happened with Robert Downey Jr). And it's weird to think that his mum is only 64 and his dad 66 yet he's already middle aged.
Wonderboys, seabiscuit, cider house rules, pleasantville, spiderman 1,2,Ice storm, and...Tobey will always be my favorite Spiderman. He is so talented and I believe he will surprise us as he gets older. He is so multifaceted. .
Wait, how was Spiderman 3 a failure at the box office? It was literally the most successful film of the three...it was the third highest grossing movie of the year
Tobey will always be remembered as the first actor thats bring Spiderman into live action movies. Because Spiderman is one of iconic superheroes for the comic fans since their childhood.
I think Toby Maguire is the best Spider-Man, he nailed it and make the character his own. The fact that the subsequent Spidy movies were all back in high school and tried to fit in the Toby 'nerdy' school character says it all.
Decent video, some factual mistakes though. Sam Raimi in NO way wanted Freddy Prince Jr to play Peter Parker, that was pitched to him by the studio and he was quoted as saying “he won’t even be aloud to buy a ticket to the movie” Spider-Man 3 also absolutely did not fail at the box office and was the highest grossing film in the franchise until Far From Home.

He was nothing but quiet and calm the entire hour. Good looking man and better in person. I do hope he plays spider-man again. He really is one of my favorite underrated actors. Also loved him in Seabiscuit.
I wish him the best ❤️
He's kinda inspiring, especially with all of his failure, he still gets back up. Glad he didn't give up and actually appeared on spiderman no way home which actually left pretty good impression to the audience about him.
People will probably start giving him more roles after they see how he did on no way home
He sobered up for the role. He bounced back and became that famous friendly neighborhood spiderman we all love
IMO that’s proof that he IS Spider-Man a lot of shit was thrown at him but he got back up to be the Spider-Man that we know and love
One of my favorite scene in the movie.. the moment him and Doc reunite.
A lot of people say the absolute correct fact that in that moment Doc was not only speaking to him, but to us all...
I swear when Spider-Tobey answer "Trying to do better" I felt like he was not actually "acting" as spiderman but as himself..
Although he was quite a prick to alot of hosts and hostesses which is wuite shit of him imo
SM 3 did not fail at the box office AT ALL. In fact, it earned much more than the first two and I'm pretty sure it's the highest earning Spidey film still
Exactly
Spider-Man 3 didn’t fail at the box office and made more then the first 2 Spider-Man films which both of those made a lot of money and had really great ratings but Spider-Man 3 had bad writing a bit and it felt like they wanted a expectation but reality hit in
@Delta Fuxtrot Spider-Man 3 is still the highest earning I believe but Far from home did good as well but the film wasnt really that good tbh
@Delta Fuxtrot financial failure? I think you got some dirt in your eyes. It wasn't financial failure but a phasing error due to lots of characters involved.
I know. That's complete bs what he said in this. Until Far From Home, SM3 was the highest box office and with inflation adjusted $1B.
Toby was the ultimate Spider Man. It’s as complex a character as they come. Toby’s talent is undeniable and I know he will age well. We can wait Toby ! Take your time man.
"With great power, comes great responsibility"
Learning from his mistakes after reaching so high.
Truly he's the Peter Parker in our universe, his name is just Tobey.
So well said! Thk you.
The greatest battle lies within.
Let's take Robert Downey Jr as an example.
I never saw tobey as a failure!!
Been his fan since I was 5 years old. I just want him to succeed and show this world that his acting has got depth, emotion and brilliance. He is the GOAT.
My theater went crazy when he showed up in NWH, this shows how much fans missed him!
Bro :/
Spoilers bruh
My small town theater is always SILENT aside from a few giggles at a funny part. There was a whole cheer for Tobey, I'm pretty sure everyone clapped!
@@zoomynumie7344 I mea. It was pretty obvious lol
I went ape shit....everyone did when he appeared!!!
Also Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland are great actors but Tobey Maguire will always be my definitive Spider-Man
Edit: Thank you all for the support. I also wanted to shout out Willem Dafoe as another inspiration of mine, such a menacing actor even in No Way Home. Love the Goblin Helmet so much that I created concept art of a superhero with a similar design.
Great story so far. Keep it up!
All the best pal
Keep it up brother
Great!
BRUH SAME! Tobey gave me confidemce in my very ordinary childhood, he was, no still is my everything
Ever since Spider-Man 3, Brothers, and The Great Gatsby, I wonder what happened to him, I hope he's happy, healthy and still acting
The way his biography is portrayed here totally sounds HOW PETER PARKER'S LIFE WOULD HAVE BEEN. BEING SPIDERMAN CHANGED BOTH PARKER AND MAGUIRE

So glad he is back in a good place. Still the best Spidey in my eyes! 😍
The problem is who ever portrays Spider-Man will always be Spider-Man in every ones eyes. Toby, Andrew and Tom.
let's agree to disagree
@@kamilyakadyr7063 Tom’s The Devil all the time was great

Tobey is my childhood Hero and always will be. I have also fought with Darkness then achieved alot. Struggled with Alcoholism, fell, stood right back up. Life is not easy, it isn't meant to be. We must stay humble and keep going forward.

Soo true
He might had lost almost everything but one thing he has never lose is his true fans that always standby his side no matter how dark it is, who is he, he is Spiderman he is Peter Parker that we grow up and love.
Dude Spiderman 3 made the most in the box office
.budget was 283 million
Box office was 890 million...
Pretty sure that is not a flop
Spiderman 2 was received very well therefore many people went to see Spiderman 3.
Critically it wasn't well received but I don't think it was that bad at the time. Considering there were not that many other comic book movies. ...
If I remember correctly, you gotta make triple your budget before it starts making profit. (Ticket sales are split 3 ways, studio/cinema/tax)
Spider-Man 3 budget was like 300m, and massively underperformed compared to what they were expecting, plus it was critically panned. :(
@@IllBeDARNd oh I didn't consider that. Your e probably right..
I still have a problem though because it's pretty close... and I just remember it breaking a record at the timev( until/after pirates 2 or something) at least on opening day
It was the most expensive but was also the highest grossing of the whole trilogy
I think"failed at the box office" would still be a less than accurate statement at least....
@@ryanburch5994 I think he's right as well.
I think Tobey is a superb actor. Wonder Boy is when I first fell in love with his acting.

Wow. I always looked up to Tobey and subconsciously (to a certain extent) felt the pain he has carried on the inside, and I've never met the man. I look up to him even more now. Thank you, Biographer.

Tobey will always be my Spiderman and I had no idea he struggled with alcohol. I had four friends who struggled with the same issue. One of them committed suicide. I truly hope that Tobey get back on his feet again.
Tobey maguire was a legend. and no one can replace him even if new spiderman will appeared.

The first Spider-man movie with Tobey, was and still is and will be my favorite spider-man movie of all time !!
I was 8 years old when I saw it, go figure, none of the new spider-man movies can touch my soul as that one did.

Yup. Add to that list RDJ Iron Man and Hugh Jackman Wolverine.

Maguire has been sober since age 19, having experienced "some difficulty" with alcohol in his late teens. - Wikipedia. Seems normal.
he is our childhood hero, he is what most of us think of when we hear spiderman, good to see him back in nwh, it was insane

I think it's worth mentioning that Spider-Man 3 did not fail at the box office by any means. While it certainly did among critics, the 3rd movie was in fact the highest grossing of Raimi's trilogy and Sony/Columbia's highest ever until Skyfall in 2012.

He's too ugly to be Spiderman.
an old hag playing teenager no way 😭
He doesn’t shower
iI's in Brothers that their characters were swapped, not Spiderman.
For someone in early 40’s it’s not too late to make a comeback, like RDJ made a comeback in his mid 40’s
I loved Spider Man 3 with Toby. His dancing scenes and his street strut will always be memorable. That's why I keep watching it again. :-)
What you mean that "Spider-Man 3 failed at the box office"? It grossed approximately 895 million dollars.
I appreciate the clean narration. It’s nice to hear a informative/educational biography without having the loud obnoxious sound effects and memes added randomly or the narrator trying to be funny like other RUclipsrs might do. Very informal, simple and well worded and easy to understand. Thank you!
No matter what he does, he will always be my hero.
Glad to hear that 🙂😭
And my no.1 spidey
I second that. His Spider-Man got me through some of the hardest times of my life. Forever my hero
I loved every version of Spiderman, each actor made it their role... SPOILER ALERT: but it wasn't until "No Way home" that I realized I had a favorite... the moment Maguire showed up on screen I had goose bumps.. and he was my favorite version
Idc if he’s flawed. Everyone’s flawed at the end of the day. He will always be MY Spider-Man.
Man if you think about it, great actors like Keanu Reeves, Jim Carrey and Tobey all went through some hard stuff, but I’m glad they’re doing ok today
And Brendan Fraser too.

Spiderman 3 grosses nearly $900 milllion, tobey maguire's career ends...according to this video. I haven't understood to this day, I just assumed it was his personal choices and not his acting skills or ability to rake in money, without him the avengers movies may never have even been made.

Tobey is the Spidey goat. Loved him in "Seabiscuit", "Ciderhouse Rules", and "Pleasantville". Can't wait for "Babylon".
Great job mentioning some of the roles he doesn't get enough credit for. I thought Tobey's performance in "The Spoils of Babylon" was hysterically funny tho' I have to admit it took me a couple of episodes before I stopped wondering what kind of series I was committing time to.😉
I grew up with Tobey as Spider-Man so he's definitely my favorite and always will be
I think that Tobey Maguire is such a great actor in the film industry.
Love this man, he IS Spider-Man. I don't care. I hope his career rises again.
It’s sad cause growing up with Tobey as a kid he was just Spider-Man to me and other kids too. Sucks hearing some of this stuff ☹️
If he does appear in No Way Home I will look forward to a rise in job offers for him in the future. His comeback will be legendary
Tobey Maguire is an incredible actor. The truth is that Tobey only plays in top movies. He chooses carefully every contract.
Tobey Maguire will always remain the best spiderman imo
Wow, he's led an incident filled life. Hard to grasp that he's actually 46 now and has been around for quite a while. The time has flown by , mind you when you look at the iconic body of work someone like Clint Eastwood or Steve McQueen had already accomplished by the same age it does put things into perspective. I hope he has learned from his mistakes and gets a chance to resurrect his career (after all that's what happened with Robert Downey Jr). And it's weird to think that his mum is only 64 and his dad 66 yet he's already middle aged.
Because his mum pragnented him at really young age. So thats why his mom not too old compared thats Tobey now already reach 50's.

Tobey... such a great and underrated actor!!! Love him
Decent video, some factual mistakes though. Sam Raimi in NO way wanted Freddy Prince Jr to play Peter Parker, that was pitched to him by the studio and he was quoted as saying “he won’t even be aloud to buy a ticket to the movie”
