the new Phunk is here, and personaLLy I couldn't be happier to have found this band at the certain time of my life. It's safe to say I am obsessed with their sound. SpecificaLLy, that of the middle to late nineties. But, how amazing is it that they've been able to play (with the same lineup) aLL this time? God bless music, and in its infinite powers...PEACE!

In the battle between good and evil who knows which side phish is on? They could be soldiers of Satin you never know. They aren't gonna let a greedy dim witted producer tell them what they can and can't do with their instruments though. I've been listening to them for decades. But I still don't trust them.

I’m so obsessed with this song that it’s usually the first one I put on when I put a new Phish or Tab show on. It’s almost like a reflex. Please don’t fret as typically I start at the very beginning. However when it’s this song, I can’t wait for it. I got the acoustic debut on 8/20/22 and Trey said that he couldn’t wait to play it with Fish and I was like yes sir, I’ve been waiting for y’all to phish it up!
I saw it again 11/19/22 with Taboose. Phish debuted it on 12/29/22. I have been paying close attention to the evolutionary process of “hey stranger” and it is just blossoming into one of my absolute favorite Phish songs ever. It’s really all of it. I love the lyrics and the music just pierces through my soul and now these extended jams that give a hood type vibe at places which I’m all for.
I have yet to see Phish do it, but all in divine time. Because it just keeps getting better and I’m certainly going to reveal in that moment.
That's so funny because I don't like this song! It's always fascinating to me how everything they do hits each of their fans differently
@@cl2984 I agree with you! There are certain songs that other people love and I’m just like meh. Perspective is everything I love that and I love that there’s something for everyone with this band! But I have a deep love for this song from very first listen!!

@@cl2984It’s true, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it either with what songs people love and hate. Mine is Crowd Control, got to witness the debut in Nassau and loved it from the first minute. It seemed like a powerful last plea for survival of the band at the time, “The time has come for changes, do something or I willl!!” but people seem to fucking hate it and they rarely play it now. I’d trade out any number of some newer songs for it, along with quite a few others that deserve far more time in the rotation…

I so love this song! I saw TAB do it with Moma dance in Oregon and was immediately thinking this would be an amazing funky Phish jam along the lines of Wolfmans, Moma, Boogie on. The dark funk jam launch vehicle potential of this song is amazing! This version is starting to show that off for sure. Unfortunately, most of the jam ideas in this version are old and Tahoe tweezeresque. Hopefully Phish will take this one to previously unexplored frontiers this summer.

I love the “ I got music so who needs anything more “line. I love that style of silly jazz music. I got rhythm is a great Gershwin tune. His music always makes me think of the amazing robin williams film the Fisher King…the multiple Gershwin tunes in the loony bin choir at the end and middle…and of course Mr Hollands Opus which has the exact tune during the orchestration concert and now Phish’s song Hey Stranger
How can FZappa20 not like this song is beyond me. It is funky as hell like Human Nature. I love any Phish song that is funky. Momma Dance we need more songs like Momma Dance

Wish Altschiller was still mixing this. Vance is so lost in his setup he needs a nap home. Been so bad for two years now. Eventually it becomes obvious what the problem is-the person actually mixing the feed. Not rocket science.

Mix still is awful. Vance and Gary are terrible. Tiny desk is the best mix this band has accomplished in 2 years. Go figure Gary and Vance weren't a part of that equation. Wake us up when Vance Powell and Gary Brown are gone.
