My pleasure! Any chance you grab your Bolex and shoot some more sweet Kodak Vision 3 negative stock - or perhaps the upcoming new Ektachrome 100D color reversal (confirmed: it will be released in 16mm also!)? That would be awesome!
@@truefilm1556 are you still around? could a feature film be done on 16mm? Any chance of a cleaner look, with minimum scratches and dust, whilst still maintaining the authentic film look/
gazellefilms Maurice R Porter, thank you. Incidentally, I very much enjoyed your film Off The Tracks which I came across whilst researching the Arriflex ST camera not so long ago.
Scubaduba, hello. The colours generally will be determined by a number of factors. Type of film stock is a factor - Kodak Vision 3 will reproduce colours differently to Ektachrome say. Stocks such as Fuji will reproduce the colours differently again. The type of lens too will be a factor - Switar lenses produce slightly different colours to Angenieux for instance or to Zeiss lenses etc. The intensity of light will also be a factor - a bright sunny day will generally produce more vibrant colours than an overcast day. The type of camera is less of a factor - a Beaulieu say should produce the same colours as a Bolex if the same lens and film stock are used in the same lighting conditions….
Good one! I'll probably say things you know already. Anyway: Moonrise Kingdom was shot on Super 16mm film and he uses the 1:1.33 aspect ratio in The Grand Budapest Hotel. Also: the saturated color grading is very much his style.
Hello yes, to get the footage onto a laptop to edit the film is transferred by a scanner a frame at a time to an external drive in HD. There are a number of companies who can offer this service. I used Images4life based in Cheshire.
Hi tinker 375 - i'm a composer for film and i have a few questions about some of your videos. Do you have a way to contact you, maybe an email address? RUclips doesn't allow private messages :-) Cheers!
This is my favorite looking video probably. Why can’t whole movies look like this?
Because film is expensive to use but I know how you feel
Really great footage! Absolutely gorgeous! Still nothing "hits" you like real film!
truefilm, thank you.

Ignacio Rodriguez, thank you. The Bolex is an Rx4.
Thank you¡ do you think that camera its hard to handle¿
Ignacio Rodriguez, no the camera is not difficult to use.
What gives the footage the deep colors? Is it the camera itself or another factor?
