I lived in Tomich for 9 years and Stuart is a dear friend and his sister who lives there with him Tina, and it is true Stewart had never seen or heard of Lord of the rings, instead he could tell you how a combustion engine worked or any other Technical thing, he was a bit of an inventor the film never told about his pulley system he designed and built to carry chopped wood down from above his house, and it would drop into his wood shed via hoppa,.
Stuart is a very very clever and intelligent man I used to love our chats over a cup of tea and a piece of cake, and what a lot of people will not know Stuart was a Master wood craftsman, he made all the windows and the doors and furniture also the water wheel for the cottage, and the Roof on the cottage is solely made from Concrete, a major feat of engineering all by himself he is an incredible person.

this is so inspirational. How many square feet is it and are there any floorplans or designs that could be purchased to support him and possibly create something from the inspiration?

My husband and I were there last year. Stewart is a lovely man, now 92 yrs old, but remarkabley he is still in good health. He allowed us to take some photos of his wee house, and from one of the photos , i did a wood burning of it ( pyrography ) and was pleased with how it turned out as i had only just started doing wood burning. . So from that piece of work i am now taking orders from people who have seen this and other pieces i have done. The original piece i will be giving to Stewart on our next visit.

I'm 70, I have not seen nor read Lord of the Rings, nor the Hobbit. My 3 kids loved both. They would try to tell me about it. But working multiple jobs to keep a roof over our heads, meant I rarely had a minute for entertainment. I would snatch a nap 😴 whenever I could. SO, I totally believe this man NEVER saw or read the tales.
Love his tiny house. Love the design & how ecologically it fits. There is much to be said about this style of life & living.
Thank ya'll so much for sharing.
    GOD BLESS!

That living room is absolutely cozy. I don’t know Grant but I am sorry he has that condition. I think it is inspiring that he did not let that get in his way.

I am sure the voice said, " mull-eye-own-ed windows " 😐 Incredible house 😮 I've not read the books or seen the films either, nor do i have such vision and skills as Stuart but to know this exists and has been made buoys the spirit 🌟

What an incredible and talented man he is,and what a privilege it would be to live there, wish he showed his house without that awful computer voice,a lovely scotish accent would be very fitting.

You do realize that it's they were published between the late 30s and the mid fifties right? They were books long before they were movie's even the Ralph Bakshi versions from the late 80s and early 90s.
