I straight up killed him last night in like a 20 min battle. He was packing me up at lvl 80. However what I decided to do after my 20th death was to use golden shield and a rapier. Ah man, that’s great. I had the misfortune today of learning that my spirits would automatically attack him, because I summoned them a little too close to the doors. Really screwed up my circuit, which I don’t appreciate
So fun trick with magic. Using determination, azur beam, and a mixed flask that boosts magic damage and negates FP use kinda vaporizes his health as well. Especially at higher levels as a mage.

@@eoozy2617 melee isn't "hard mode" but it is harder than mage builds due to the spacing between you and your target. As a melee class you're more likely to need to memorise every single attack of a boss whereas with mage a lot of the attacks don't even need to be memorised bc they can't hit you (melee moves). Generally because of this melee is inherently more difficult, However in elden ring the double katana bleed melee is very powerful both in pve, and pvp, and could be considered better than mage IF you know attack patterns due to it's high dps. Regardless, yes melee is generally harder because of the plethora of memorisation compared to other classes.
I mena, yes and no though. There's a ton that you can cheese, but there's also stuff where even the cheese method is hard, and you still need to get past the spicy bits eventually.
I'm doing a 0 magic and 0 arts playthrough as a samurai. Just a shield and my +15 uchigatana. I broke this boss somehow. So I actually baited like 10 beast slashes from the agroed beast clergyman at the door. Although the gargoyle takes damage he won’t react. It can be a little scary dodging the beast claw consistently but it only took me a few tries to have the beast clergyman kill him
fun fact the boss takes massive damage from toxic attacks and coincidentally toxic dragon breath goes through most walls so if you have a faith build just spam this attack from a safe distance behind the door btw the same also goes for the npc there and later its boss variant with this trick you can basically skip his first phase which finally makes the second possible
He's immune to all status effects and toxic isn't a damage type in the game. Rotten Breath and Ekzyke's Decay both do "standard" physical damage which he's relatively weak to though. He's weakest against strike damage (0% negation).
Best way is to do it ranged. Sitting up on your horse on the rail of the balcony to his right. His attacks won't reach you but he'll keep trying to attack you. On rare occasion he might be smart enough to make it and around the stairs, but most of the time he'll just sit there attacking the wall beneath you. Doing it this way you won't have to run and hide for a million years for him to go back to his spot. And you won't have to dodge, hide or move at all, just start launching attacks.
@@ProtoIndoEuropean88 He never really did it to me while on the ledge. He only uses that attack when you're far away, such as inside the building or trying to kite him on the horse. But the game doesn't really use vertical distance in the AI, just horizontal. So when you are on the ledge above him, you're within Melee range. So he only really uses melee attacks. But on occasion when he does the flying charge attack, he might hit the wall just right and glide up the staircase or down the side and be within "ranged attack" distance and try to use that on you. But I've rarely had it happen to me.
It's quicker to hide behind one of the pillar bases inside. Not by much, but it helps. His range attack won't go through the pillar base and his regular attacks won't reach that far. When he begins to back up from the door again he will usually not retaliate until he gets all the way to his starting position so that gives you the opportunity for another hit or two. Slightly riskier, but far faster.
I did almost the same thing with that dragon in that area. Can try equip staff on left and any weapon right with determination ash of war. After use determination the magic damage increased greatly that's almost insane
I forget the of the dragon incantation something like rotten breath but if you sneak behind the dragon on the bridge near this boss you can get the full cast off which takes it to 50% hp over a few mins then run away until he isn't aggro and use it again to finish him off easiest boss ever 😂
I did the same thing but with the sword of night and flame. Also, you don't need to go all the way to the back you can hide behind the broken pillars by crouching. Run to the 2nd pillar to avoid his wind gust then sneak to the 3rd and wait for respawn. Good Luck ;)
So ive seen both good (like this) and bad with these overworld bosses. The BAD is extremely annoying but once it's happened 100 times you get used to it. GOOD stuff like this is hilarious. I accidently killed a boss I ran past while getting chased by a gang. I came back but there were small houses and rooftops for me to Assassin's Creed on, and I could target lock the boss from a roof and they had NO way of touching me. Poison Arrows
Im cheesing most evergaol bosses by standing on the various rocks who often block legit 90% of their moveset and you can spam stagger attacks after each one of their animations and crit a much stronger foe down
I’m new to souls games so I’m trying to get the full experience so I just fought him up close and personal which was kinda tough I guess but it always shocks me how easy people manage to make the fights lol there’s a loophole for everything

Why wait in the back? You just stand next to one of the pillars near the door and arrow him, watch for his shout and move behind said pillar. He will back eventually which gives you ample time to get some arrows in. He will also "bug" a bit while back at reset position so you can hit him freely in the wing with arrows before he comes charging
Man he destroyed every pillar in the room for me. I hid in the side of the wall hallway back. He was hitting me while running all the way to back. The cubbyholes in the side wall is 100% safe if you are at least halfway back.
@@davesblunderfulkitchen1583 You can still stand behind the broken pillar bud, he sorta telegraphs when the shouts are coming so you just gotta know when to go behind it. Then if he goes full crazy mode in melee just step a little back from the pillar. All good
Alternatively you can stand like 7 metres from the door and just keep shooting until it drops dead. It's cry will hit you so keep a shield handy. Lastly beware of the ultimate attack that hits 3 times and has this particle effect all around the place, it reaches surprisingly far. Anyway try it like 1-2 times and you'll know exactly what to do. This here is one of the cheesiest bosses in the game.
So, what you're telling me is I've been playing the game the right way by whipping a couple of pebbles and running away. I've made it pretty far with this method so far.

If u want to be sad and frustrated fight em early but if you are chill fight him at about lvl 50+ He has a easy move set to get used to and I found him to be hella easy when he uses the axe
@@Vintagesonic1 guess you should increase your health. I have 30 vitality and he does about half of my health with each hit, but he's really slow so you can almost always heal safely. He does not have that much health and his moveset is pretty easy to remember and dodge. Not really that hard.
@@basednappa there is actual difficulty and artificial difficulty. The first can be a nice challenge, the second is just bullshit, like making a boss with a ton of hp and insane dmg with weird attacks and hitbox, that for sure is not fun. But in ER you can avoid certain bosses and come back later so that's not a big deal.
I did this similar technique with the Tree Sentinel by slowly chipping away at his health. NGL, it was a brutal slow grind.... death by a thousand cuts... literally.
Never even thought of resetting him that way even though I left the area so many times. I beat him at level 22 with no magic & no upgrades lmfao it was 4am when I entered a flow state. Didn’t realize he didn’t even land a hit til it was over. Just spammed the heavy attack on horseback with my Longsword over & over.
The Farum Bridge Grace is the best area to farm because of 1100 rune drop from the enemies who I call the turtle people. They have weird small heads and tall hats. The drop some Vulgar armor and they are pretty easy to kill. Also Bloodhound Step ashes of war drop by the Black Knight dickhead just S&E of the Dragon on the bridge. That enemy is easy to kill by aggroing him (he's only there during night.) Then have him chase you around and back up the hill towards the Turtle People. You run through poison landmines which get the Black Rider too and suddenly he's just dead. Bloodhound Step makes it a must have and the Black Rider drops 40,000 runes too!
There's an even easier way all you have to do is be on torrent and get on top of the railing to the right all the way down to the corner. From there he only has 2 attacks that can hit you but they're rare and you can just jump to avoid them I think. If you do get hit/ fall off you can just lead him down the stairs then quickly run up and reset. Hope you find this helpful :)
@@JB-ve7yh at the very start of the video it’s that railing that’s supposed to prevent you from falling but if you are on torrent you just walk right up on it just make sure you go all the way down and stand on the corner of it
This boss was the hardest to do a no hit run with because of that one lawnmower attack when it switches to its great axe. Hit boxes are so inconsistent on that one attack.
You should move your torrent ring off your item bar and into your pouch. Then you have less to cycle through and if you hold Triangle (on playstation) your pouch menu pops up and can call torrent much faster.

I've spent about 12 hours of repeatedly dying over and over due to his bs attacks, in the sense they can phase through walls. But I'm sure doing this strat, won't be as pain stacking as dying over and over and hoping i get lucky, since that's what this boss is. I refuse to believe he is skill-based. I'm like level 80 and I still can't kill him even with overpowered weapons. Edit: I finally beat him using this strategy.
coming from Sekiro where the fights were enjoyable and engaging I fucking hate how cheap some boss fights are. shit looks and feels like raid shadow legends 😂
Level 80 and still couldn't kill for 12 hours? and here when I chipped his 40% health on lev 50 by my Halberd Strikes and got killed by his unblockable slashes, thought need 10 more level/lev60+ to get him. 😂
I got teleport here long time ago and finally kill him yesterday with better weapon, came back here 3 different time to test how strong i got by fighting him.
I beat this man using my mimic tear spirit at level 7, but the spirit would always die before I can get him to half health so I just used my faith spells to chip his health away and once my spirit would die I would run for my life and use the remaining FP I’d have and then go in with my weapon. Eventually I beat him, he was a pain in the Booty hole 🕳
I have the Golden Scarab permanently in my Talisman Pouch and if I'm remembering correctly, I got like 100k+ runes after defeating this boss. Should've popped a golden fowl right before the killing strike.
Attract the boss, run behind the first pillar inside the Clergy room, cast Night- Maidens mist until he dies. Just be careful of his attacks but his roar attacks will NOT break the bottom half of the pillar, just duck down during those and roll back a bit during melee attacks. WAY easier than this method Also quick side note, when using this method the boss will slowly back off to his starting spot BUT he will automatically walk back up after a little bit, you don't need to run out to him every time. Just use that time to prep another mist!

Fought him on horseback and he ended up jumping himself right off the cliff after 5 mins or so. Had him at half health too so I actually felt a little cheated 😂
You only have to go to the pillars by the door, hide behind them, wait for him to scream and then he starts backing up, then run up to the door and hit him 3 or 4 times with black fireball, then step JUST OUTSIDE the door the a second to get his attention again, then run behind a pillar and repeat until he is dead.
There's a point where Gurranq goes ballistic and attacks you, and if you run outside and aggro the gargoyle, you can use strategic positioning to have Gurranq kill him for you :)
I was wondering why Garrang goes ballistic when I didn't even touch him! I thought it was a bug but maybe that is the route you have to take to beat the Gargoyle ? It seems impossible without fluking it otherwise,!
@@techknow9237 Not really, Gurranq goes ballistic after you give him the 3rd death root *no matter what, but you only have to beat him up a bit and he'll come to his senses, so no needto kill him*, but I think they're both part of the same "clan" because they don't aggro on each other, at least when I tried. It's a cheese for sure. I beat the gargoyle mid game and fairly, it was still tough as shit, but you can shelter in Gurranqs place at least. Simplest cheese for any boss is a bow, rotbone arrows, poison arrows, and bleed arrows, plus the Barrage skill.
Regardless, yes melee is generally harder because of the plethora of memorisation compared to other classes.

fun fact the boss takes massive damage from toxic attacks and coincidentally toxic dragon breath goes through most walls so if you have a faith build just spam this attack from a safe distance behind the door
btw the same also goes for the npc there and later its boss variant with this trick you can basically skip his first phase which finally makes the second possible
rot breath? I have it and he doesn’t seem to proc the scarlet rot. Is there a toxic dragon breath?
Nice! This is the info i was looking for. I love knowing the weaknesses of the enemies.
He's immune to all status effects and toxic isn't a damage type in the game. Rotten Breath and Ekzyke's Decay both do "standard" physical damage which he's relatively weak to though. He's weakest against strike damage (0% negation).
“2000 years later!” So funny! 😂😂😂
" His attacks won't reach you but he'll keep trying to attack you." you didn't mention that scream attack he does that one hit kills you
@@ProtoIndoEuropean88 He never really did it to me while on the ledge.
I just stood in between his legs and he only hit me twice.

You can inflict rot and poison in seconds, and then just run around in circles, chonking their health off while they run between you and your summon. Black Bow is great, plus range talisman...oohh.
I admire your ways of thinking out the box, but I can't help to feel dishonourable if I were to do this
I did no target lock and parry only, sometimes I just feel like doing different things haha
Did something similar to cheese the twin tree sentinel fight if you run past them through the doors to the grace on the other side and rest at it you can reverse track and kill them one at a time
Thank you for this obvious thing I should've thought about. I literally do this all the time, but the shock I experienced from seeing two for the first time really screwed with me.
... Then I encountered the demonic tree sentinel...
@@lonewolf6232 demonic? You mean the draconic tree sentinel?
im ashamed to say I also did this lol, really found those two hard.
i feel like running away and not seeing the boss aggressively chase you down is 10x more scarier than actually fighting it lol
🤣
Defeating this guy the legit way, made me learn all his moves, and prepared me for the other gargoyles in the game.
Everything is legit. Good for you
Good job soulnoob
@@creeloowz5538 right is called thinking outside the box. This game u can have a creative mind when it comes to killing bosses or even groups of enemies. If it ain't a gitch that it is a legit way. The game wasn't made to just run up 2 a boss all the time n just fight them straight up. If it was like that then they wouldn't have had it n open world game. I mean he still gonna die alot anyways so y not try things we couldn't have done in the other dark souls games. The guy is basic 😬
@@artz991 I wouldn't call it being creative and finding a way to kill him, it's just abusing AI 😅 Not that it matters, play the game as you want to play it, though don't call that 'thinking outside the box.'
@@zledzz4368 if u don't see it like that then u really don't know to much at all. If u don't know what thinking out outside the box is don't bother talking 2 me 😂
hey look man when you tell this story to your children in the future....
"It was the most epic battle that took me 9 days with me almost dying so many time!"
