Thomas is such an underrated composer. He's been my favorite for such a long time. Glad to see someone else giving him some recognition! Great video. Can't wait for the chapter two reaction to be up!
Thank you. I also love the freeze of your face reacting that you use as thumbnail for the video. Just the surprise on your face makes me want to click on the video. Your joy is transmitted in all of your work. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us Christopher ! Have a nice day !
This was great! Thank you so much for making these videos not only reacting but also breaking down Thomas Bergersen/TSFH songs. Literally no one reacts to TSFH on all of RUclips and I've been dying for some people to do it because they don't know what they're missing out on, so you're doing the TSFH community a great service by reacting to Thomas' music, I know a lot of people really appreciate you making these reactions.
This is brilliant. Can't wait for your reaction on Chapter II I know we have to wait till TSFH uploads all the songs on youtube but I'll be here waiting :) My favourite part was 8:16 where I heard Little Star (which is another song by Thomas he released this winter) and I loved hearing that reference. Couldn't get the smile off my face it's so beautiful Also I got caught off guard by the stupid smiley in the end I really wanna know why Thomas put it there
Something I've loved about Humanity is that each of the chapters includes a a sort of "compilation" track that features most of the previous tracks from their respective albums (Love Suite being Chapter III's) . It really makes listening to the albums all the way through such an awesome experience! :)
Heard this I guess the day it was posted. Amazing piece of work - BUT it reminds me of similar things YOU have created. Bergersen's work is amazing indeed. And it's a construction lesson if ever there was one but your expanding on it certainly adds to the knowledge base. Such a rich piece of work. Something I aspire to someday - hopefully before I'm too old to do it or worse, run out of time to get something remotely this good done before I check out. Thanks for the reaction video - a great review and explanation. Helps define the structure which explains a load of thoughts and ideas. Brilliant. I sometimes wonder - with both his work and others I've heard - if the "theory" of the piece is all-consuming or if they just occasionally "feel the moment" and put down (then make fit) inspired ideas that might not necessarily fit theoretical structure - or just inspired sound that works!! Not that up on my theory (after 40 year hiatus) so it's time to relearn and then apply without denying that inspiration (or limited knowledge of theory) can often take over and result in good sounding stuff regardless of my limitations.
@@ChristopherSiu I find it funny that when I was in college, my theory prof was adamant that we knew what was what during first year theory.....you know, all the "rules and regs and such". Then when second year theory rolled around - we still had to try and keep things straight, but he pretty much said not to worry so much about the rules and regs, but rather just be creative, be inspired and write the music "from the heart" instead of being so encumbered by the rules. Been my mantra ever since BUT I do wish I remembered the theory better than I do 40 years hence. Thanks for all you do to reinspire that.
Thomas has been adamant in his social media posts over the years that he has no regard for music theory, even referring to the Humanity project as his "ultimate rebellious statement". I can't pretend to know what really goes on in that brain of his, and it's obvious that he's spent an extraordinary amount of time over the years learning how to make his music sound the way it does (he studied orchestration books in his spare time while in highschool, for example) but I do think that underneath all the knowledge and developed skill is someone who composes by simply doing what feels right. From the homepage of his 2011 album "Illusions": "To me, music theory is an obstruction. I love composing music because it liberates me from social conventions and authorities. It is pure freedom to me. The last thing I want to be doing is follow academic guidelines and rules that directly inhibit my creative freedom. Music is my sanctum and theory has no access."
Hey Christopher, as I'm a pianist for 11 years now I really enjoyed, that Thomas published the sheets for this track. It's really amazing. Thomas definitely doesn't get the recognition he deserves. You should totally make a reaction to "That's A Wrap" by him. That's an insane 10 minute "in-your-face" track created by using only his custom samples in only 10 days and this piece really shows that he's one of, if not THE master of midi orchestration. Regards!
@@antonseelus9839 Under a post from tsfh world epic fan group on FB, it seems RUclips delete my reply with url so I just copied Thomas words: “Not much to say about it other than there existed a film scoring culture some time back where composers would write these endlessly energetic action cues in what seemed like a goal of filling up as much of the score paper as possible. I just wanted to have a go at it 🙂 In revisiting the backup files for the composition I realized there was a mistake in my original post because the piece was completed in 4 days not 10. I do remember developing nerve inflammation in my left shoulder due to excessive pounding on the keyboard 😬🥵”
Chapter III is gonna be amazing i can feel it ! By the way, Love Suite is the "final remix" track of the chapter, so it's taking a bunch of themes from other tracks in the album. I can't wait to discover where those themes come from !
I think the writing style is very similar to American Dream, which by far is my favorite piece/album/suite. Pure orchestral work with modern twist, inspired by classical music, infused with TB's signature romance and epicness. Just perfect music.
wos this is fantastic Christopher....It's amazing how you recognize all these chords so quickly christophe ... your channel is awesome. would like to understand the chord connections better .. generally in this hollywood romantic music style. it would be so great if you could make a video where you play the chords on the piano, so we can see the piano in the picture, where we can also see the voicing .. right now I only see notes! ;-) the chord structure at 3:06 is so fantastic but I can't imagine how it comes to the climax and what key we're actually in .... but because I'm not that good a pianist, I would like to understand. Part 3:16 is also simply fantastic. So if you need an idea for a new video, that would be fantastic. i love this style of music so much, it always sounds so complicated but actually it's not at all right? keep up the great work...:)
Why don't you analyse "American Dream"?Thomas really used the Force on this one, and i know for sure because I m Yoda, remember? Great reactions though, on the previous videos and this one. Discovering Thomas's work for me was like following a track that suddenly shows you the entrance of the Grand Canyon. Mind blowing and so much to explore and enjoy.
Hi Chris, just curious... do you have perfect pitch or were you reading the score for the chord changes? Either way, you have an amazing ear. I have to sit down at the piano to figure out what the hell is going on. Great video by the way!
A question Master ¡..a symphony should be taken to a Daw, .. exporting from a score editor? ..... or should I play each of the instruments in the Daw while reading the sheet music? --- which is more efficient? .........thanks since now
Unfortunately he has to wait until all of it has been uploaded to the TSFH channel. Which will take like a billion years at this rate (well, two or three months).

Wow! So surprised that Bergersen made this pure orchestral without any sound design or hybrid elements. Great analysis and walkthrough Chris! :)
Thank you very much!
You haven't listened to American Dream ? :p it's a 45 minutes orchestral suite

Lots of mediocre parts with some very beautiful parts coming through occasionally ... sorry, but far too much of the composition was weak for me.
