Call me crazy, but I think Chaeng foreshadowed it during DM promos, when she would get teary-eyed specifically on Gyul's lines, "어떡해 너와 나 이렇게 가까이" and members would comment on her reaction to it during certain early interviews. TBH those lines didn't come across any more sentimental compared to other parts of the song, so I thought she was just very emotional about something going on at that time.

I feel the same way. i hate that its selfish, but i wish she could come back and do both in being an idol and an actress. As much as i respect her decision in following her dream, it just hurts... she was my ult bias that got me into kpop and kdramas... and everyday i would in some form either see videos with her and fromis_9 or just see new pictures of her on my feed, shes even my phone background. So to not see her as an idol with fromis_9 so suddenly and without warning bothers me. I have to get over it... but like you said, it will never be the same.
