    Possibly another winner in this all is Japan. The viewership numbers on OWCS Japan are crazy (I heard they are higher then Korea?) and the number of teams that entered in Japan was more then Korea and Pacific combined. Japan is a huge untapped region for the scene that is currently dominated by Varrel, and I think there is some potential for the region to produce a few really good quality teams a few years down the line.

    One of the great things about this new open system is that players have more opportunity for movement and to find themselves on teams that match their needs (communication, playstyle, language, etc.). I think one of the problems with OWL is that players were being slotted into to pre-created teams which sometimes worked, but often took great quality players and put them in environments where they struggled to thrive. Overwatch is a team dependent game and players can find great success on some teams and struggle on others.

    Kai benefited from the death of owl felt like he needed a fresh start where he could of been a full time starter again after being on bench majorly last year on glads, and on reign s5 he was good first half on hs, than when he got benched in double flex dps meta he didn’t hit that same peak again in playoffs.

    Rak currently has a positive map win rate and even with 2 just wins has more than he did the entire time he was in OWL. Still very early for NA but still way way way better for Rak so far

  • @blitzer3835
    @blitzer3835 3 месяца назад

    Rak for obvious reasons
    Taejong and Topdragon have gotten noticed.
    The og wisp core with Rokit, Chopper, and Raiker finally getting to show off on the big stage.
    As people already said but Japan as a whole has seen a huge growth. Well more of a birth.
    This is also been huge for the calling all heros plays being able to show off (Aniyun go off queen).
    I think EU also benefited quite a bit since I feel like even though players like Sauna and Vestola popped off in the world cup they might not have gotten much of a chance in owl since orgs don't like EU players.

    In NA it seems the WISP players, students of the game, and other teams who's core didn't make it to owl are probably going to benefit in the long run as there are more eyes on these players. This year feels like a big test run. Low pre determined prize pools, weird stage format, ruling changes mid season, crowd funded lan prize pool, all signs of experimentation. They need to also incorporate faceit league into the game more to get attention to it.

    I think a lot of NA players have really benifitted from OWL dying recently. Most notably Lenny has gone from mid to top of his region as the best NA fdps, and Vega has finally had a chance to prove himself (granted he probably would have if OWL was alive, but it allowed him certainty that he'd be on a good team rather than a team like Valiant or smth)
    Along with them, I think Topdragon and spectra (although thats arguable since he was already consitered very good before OWL) have had more chances to prove themselves and let themselves stand out.

    As a dynasty fan, i always knew prophet was a great player. I thought he was actually one of the bright spots of early s6 dynasty. Him taking on mn3, shy and heesu on hitscan in some of his first games while the rest of the dynasty team was getting rolled mustve been tiring for him. When he got dropped i was very surprised, i wanted dynasty to add ezhan, but also keep prophet. Also the dynasty discord at the time was a very toxic place and saying i liked prophet was herecy in there.

    • @baseebird
      @baseebird 3 месяца назад

      He was good against Shy, Mn3 he got gapped against Heesu on Widow he was a bright spot on maps where he could actually play hs, he was arguably worst Sombra in the league tho so I wouldn’t say he was a major bright spot, but it definitely wasn’t his fault the team should of went to full time hs comps with brawl they were an awful dive team with Krillin Lucio, Lesoomin wasn’t good, Belos Winston whenever they played Shambali they beat top teams on that map Spark, INF, Dallas I blame coaching more than anything for that stage 1 team failing should of been obvious they couldn’t play dive besides profit.
