Hardest MM2 Level? Pit of PePanga: DieVine Garden

- I may have created Super Mario Maker 2's current hardest level. Clear is at 4:35
This was my first attempt at a Super Mario 3D World level. I have never played the original game so I had to learn a lot of the different mechanics before creating the level. Also, the lack of saws, munchers, 1x1 spike blocks, one-way gates, and stacking enemies made the level design process very difficult. I had to create weird roundabout ways for obstacles, which led me to use piranha plants throughout the level, which I ended up making the theme of the level.
I also decided to include two failed attempts in the video, where I died on the final jump. Oof.

Fun fact: this was my first time ever playing 3D World, so I learned all the mechanics while making this level.

it's probably worth noting that this is very different from 3D World. they took a 3D mario game and crunched it into 2D. but they managed to convert it well.

You know, most of your tough MM1 levels were in a cave or dungeon and felt ominous to add to the difficulty feel. This level is so joyful looking and Mario sounds like he's having too much fun while going through this insane death trap
Probably driven by the rom hacks he plays. I think it's a neat new thing for him.

This level still has the 5th lowest clear rate in the game. Panga needs to make a harder level!
That is not even true. There are levels with much lower clear rates. It's just that if you sort by lowest clear rate, you get 0.00% levels with the most plays.

In my opinion this is one of the better ones of panga's in smm2 because all the moving things have a purpose. Rather than the screen clutter for intimidation in most other mass produced levels.

Best part of the video is right after Panga’s first run failed, when Mario is standing there looking at the player and the Banzai Bill slowly comes across the screen and blasts him in the face

Also thanks for leaving in the ten years of dead air at the beginning, it really adds to the effect and I finally had time to repaint the lawn.

But if one guy/girl could get a clean world record, it's him/her
In MM1 you could download levels and then pop them into the editor and play them. But in MM2 they removed that only letting you play levels you download, not edit. Which means if you want to practice something mid level, instead of just practicing right there in the editor, you have to constantly play it over and over to that spot just to practice.

*LETHAL EJECTION LOOKS HARDER* it's mario maker 1 all over again the dan level is considered harder by a few wierd people.
As a person who plays hard levels, lethal ejection is easier, but like you said this isn't the hardest lol. Search up Breaking Time by Andrew MM, or Soothe: Capella/Soothe: Menkalinan by PhoenixCade. They're honestly gods at the game who are completely ignored lol
Panga's level never cease to scare us.
I like how as you go through literally the hardest smm2 level to exist currently, you just hear happy music in the background as you die at the first jump
