- English Boy Treble, Freddie Simpson (12yr), sings Ave Verum (Karl Jenkins) in duet with Cai Thomas @caithomas2787. Directed by Robert Lewis, produced by Tom Mungall. Recorded in the beautiful St Andrew's Church, Farnham in December 2023.
Freddie, a finalist in the BBC Young Chorister of the Year competition met Cai, now a 17 yr old baritone, in the boys' choir at St. Thomas-on-the Bourne. Freddie and Cai are both taught by Robert Lewis.

@freddiesimpson.official Well I hope your voice doesn't change for some time yet. I was a treble in my school choir and as an adult sang in cathedral choirs. I've always loved boys voices and yours is lovely.

they sing like they breath
Sadly one can barely hear the baritone. The duet ends up being between the treble and orchestra instead of between two voices and they are great voices.
Cai has no luck with sound recording. Here his baritone is muted compared to Freddie's soprano. Meanwhile, both vocal parts are equivalent in this composition and should sound the same in volume:

Freddie, well done you were nervous and it showed. None the less, you held it together. Your voice is very powerful. Cai, also well done. I remember when you also were a treble. Now an excellent tenor. The sound tech, not well done. I was most disappointed. You spoilt and excellent duet by not bringing Cai’s voice up to where it could have been. I have no doubt that the two young men blended well. You didn’t allow that to be conveyed to your audience. Again, to Freddie and Cai, well done.
