Adolphe Charles Adam originally composed his "Cantique de Noël" in 1847 on the poem of Placide Cappeau, and for organ and a relatively small choir. This masterly recording with organ, choir and indeed a heavenly voice of the boy soprano Freddie Simpson, is the best of its kind!!!!!!
Beautiful organ accompaniment. Choir and conductor working in gentle support. Above all, Freddie and his well disciplined voice are smooth, clear, and gentle for the holy night.
Sublime! Sitting here in Melbourne, not even Xmas (it's September) with tears streaming down my face. My favourite carol sang so beautifully. Thank you!
A fine performance from Freddie and all concerned. Sensitive organ accompaniment. A piece which sounds deceptively simply but yet is fiendishly difficult to sing to perfection.
Fantastic Freddy, Fanx. The very best for your future. There's just enough lilt and your enunciation is top notch, but you don't need commenters to tell you this. You're going to miss getting to those top notes so smoothly one day, so enjoy them whilst you can. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from an ex~double Once in Royal-er.
This is truly astounding I was listening to something else and this popped up I am so glad I clicked onto it truly beautiful thank you really powerful vocals I was in pure equilibrium Young man you keep up with the hard work you are going to go far in this life
Just wow this actually gave me goosebumps, I don't normally listen to this sort of music but once I heard your voice I was just fixed absolutely amazing.
Great singing buddy, just try to look a little happier, you do such a great job and have a truly beautiful voice that you a trained so well . I love listening to you.
Beautifully sung Freddie, I'm just watching today's Songs of Praise..... the less said the better. Thanks, Robert and all who took part. A very merry Christmas to you all! 👏👏👏
Watching this early Christmas Day, what a wonderful way to start the day. Beautifully done congratulations and thank you I for heavenly performance. Merry Christmas to all from Adelaide, South Australia. 🎄😊🎁
By no means bad, but he seems a little out of breath all the time, it lacks all power. Hence, the organ and choir have to play very softly. Maybe that's why they quickened the pace a little, to help him not to get out of breath.
Good grief! I must listen to it again to check Freddie 's breathing!!! To me, this arrangement shows great sensitivity on all sides and is utterly beautiful . Gorgeous, Freddie!!❤

Karenaldridge, I like the way he hits the high notes without scooping up, which most singers seem to do these days.
I agree!

Nice to hear you singing this french song.
Thank you!
It may be one of those rare french songs, but he is singing in English, to which the hymn is best suited. His diction in English is phenomenal.
Nice singing Freddie

Wow, Freddie sang better than Aled Jones did in his younger days. He should do a duo with grown up Aled. They’ll make an excellent duo!

FREDDIE IS A CHORISTER OF... WHICH CATHEDRAL?
no auto tune here unlike some ......
would have been great if its a solo without musical instruments.
