- Join me as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of A1A - tour Jimmy Buffett's old apartment at 704 Waddell St. next to Louie's Backyard. We visit Coconut Beach Resort; Louie's Backyard, have a Bloody Mary at Louie's Backyard, hear the first person stories from Chris Robinson who lived alongside Jimmy in the 1970s. We have some fun recreating the iconic A1A album cover - and celebrate Jimmy in his old neighborhood in Key West (along with great music from Jockey Jord and Mischka). Fins up!
I enjoyed it, agreed it should have a marker plate in honor of Jimmy!
Thank you for watching! Let's be honest, no one is more famous or more associated with KW than Jimmy. Hemingway was there for 10 years, left and never returned. Jimmy lived and worked in KW for nearly 50 years. Fins up!
Amen, there should be a marker there, love your videos
@@crk140 Thank you!! I have more coming so please subscribe and I’ll keeping putting new ones out. Fins up!
Thank you for this video, the old videos remind me of my life as a teenager in the 70s.
Those green colors and wood paneled walls will do it! Thank you for watching - Fins up!
Fantastic!! Thanks for the ride!!! Time for that Bloody Mary!!! ❤
Oh yes! Thanks for watching and please remember to subscribe as there will be more vlogs coming soon. Fins up!
This just might be your best Stories episode yet! Nice work!
Thank you for watching! I tried to do this one a little differently, tried having more fun and that included some silliness - but hey its Key West! I have a couple more filmed that will be edited and coming out in the next few weeks and months. Fins up!
First..Happy 50th! What a great way to celebrate a very special milestone! I’m hoping you got to have a long conversation with Chris Robinson. I’d hope he had a lot of great stories from back in the day that will hopefully make it to another video! It’s got to be a challenge to find folks still alive that would have known him from those days, but I wish you the best of luck finding content and making more videos..Fins and Bubbles Up!
Patrick thank you for watching and the kind words! I had a nearly 90 minute conversation with Chris Robinson. We covered all types of topics and people in KW lore. I need to edit it down and will release it as a series of short vlogs dealing with each of the topics discussed. It will take some time to do so - there's a lot there! Fins up!
@@allthestoriesicantell7595 That’s fantastic! Can’t wait to see more!
A1A is the best ever in this 71 year old man’s opinion
There's many thousands more out there that agree with you Glenn! Thank you for watching - Fins up friend!
Great episode honoring this amazing album! Been listening to it on repeat lately. Keep up the great work and couldn’t agree more about something being done to commemorate his place! Has to happen.
Thank you for watching Trey! Yes, I stand by my statement that no one, not Hemingway, not Tennessee Williams, not Truman, Mel Fisher etc has done more to put KW on the map than Jimmy. Jimmy maintained a home and foothold on the island for nearly 50 years - it's time to recognize that. Fins up!
Happy Birthday!! Glad to see you back. Incredible video and stories as usual!
Thank you for continuing to watch and your always kind words! More vlogs are to come - I was pretty busy filming last month - just need to get them all edited and ready to go. Fins up!
Man I’ve been waiting patiently for you to put another video out. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! ❤❤
Thank you for watching! I appreciate the kind words - we all love and miss Jimmy and these little vlogs and stories help us through this post Jimmy time then I am happy to continue doing this. These songs were true stories and those stories need to be told. I think seeing the locations really helps us become closer to the man and the song. Fins up!
Another good one 👍🏼
Thank you! More to come in the next few weeks and months (I filmed 2 others down there . .)
No question the side B of AIA was his signature work. However, his Volcano album was equally good imho, just had some lesser known hits. Thx for posting the video.
Thank you for watching! Yes, I would put Volcano up there as well too. . I would say that in some ways Volcano was the last of that phase of his career. More to come soon. Fins up!
Keep the party going!!
Truer words have never been spoken and we should respect and live by his final wishes. Fins up - THANK YOU for watching!
Love it !
Thanks brother! Semper Fi
These are great! Hope u do more. You could do Colorado (incommunicado) Tell me where do we go from here, think I'll ride into Leadville and have a few beers. Or Hawaii "Dukes on Sunday" I'm sure there's more.
Shelby, thank you for watching and thank you for the kind words! Yes, I do have more planned. So far this vlog has locations in Key West, Cedar Key, Montana and even a stop in Cleveland. I have a plan for a future Nashville episode coming later this summer - early fall. New Orleans could be on the list too! Fins up!
Love your videos!!
Seems like key West is now just a town for the very rich
It's getting there - but as Jimmy has previously said "there's still some magic left in this tourist town". If you know where to go and when you can still have an amazing time. Fins up and thank you for continuing to watch!
@@allthestoriesicantell7595 cheers and thanks for continuing to do content
We parrot heads really appreciate it
@@Treetopflyer777 thank you for continuing to watch - I do this for the love of the music and the man
In music, an outtake is a recording that is not included in the final version of a album, single, or other release. Outtakes can be:
1. Unfinished songs: Tracks that were not completed or finalized.
2. Alternative versions: Different versions of songs that were ultimately not used.
3. Rejected songs: Tracks that were recorded but not deemed suitable for release.
4. Studio jam sessions: Improvisational recordings not intended for official release.
5. Demo recordings: Early versions of songs that were later re-recorded.
Outtakes can provide valuable insight into an artist's creative process and are often sought after by fans and collectors. They can be released later as bonus tracks, on compilation albums, or as part of anniversary editions. How many songs that has been reused from the fire from universal studios Hollywood and finally survived and now properly working again? And I wonder how many outtakes and unreleased recordings Jimmy had over the years including hot water and floridays and even volcano 🌋?
@@Songwritersbehindthecurtain Great post and thank you for watching! Let’s hope there are some gems out there that may one day still be released by his family.
Awesome job!
Thanks for the visiting! Fins up!
Funny how the street names are painted on the posts, rather than put up on signs. Assuming this is because the signs kept getting stolen?! Thanks for another great/fun/informative video David !
Thanks Mickey! I always look forward to your kind comments. I have some more vlogs coming soon - I filmed a few while I was down there (stacking them up) - glad you enjoyed it - Fins up!
@@allthestoriesicantell7595 My wife and I are driving to Billings Montana next week. We plan to stop in Livingston to check out some of the 'Buffett' landmarks you profiled in your last vlog. Can't wait !
@@mickwhiskey7960 You will love Livingston. There is a little bookstore down town where they have a lot of the local author's works theres (McGuane, Harrison etc) - of note there is a little shrine to the locals celebrity that called Livingston home (McGuane, Margot Kidder, Jeff Bridges, etc) - there's also a boot - a single boot. I wanted to ask whose boot that was. If you go can you ask for me? It's been killing me to know. Also, - take the 35-40 minute drive north and hit Ringling since you are there. You will enjoy the scenery. Enjoy!
I will definitely search out the bookstore with the boot, and try to get the story. Standby to be amazed 😂
Update: Livingston is such a cool little town. My wife and I loved it ! To answer your question, the lone 'boot' in the Wheatgrass bookstore belonged to Jim Harrison (took a picture of it). We grabbed a beer and deviled eggs in the Livingston Bar and Grill. Delicious. Also checked out the Murray Hotel. What a great historical landmark. Would love to stay there sometime. Didn't have time to drive out to Ringling, but it gives us something to see the next time we pass through that area. Thanks again for your videos David. Without them, we never would have experienced this great little Montana town, that was part of Jimmy's past !
@@mickwhiskey7960 That is so awesome Mick! I would have guesses either Harrison , McGuane or Bridges. Glad to hear you loved Livingston - it is a cool little town! Keep in touch. Fins up!
Great video. I was just there, touring the JB route based on your videos. Where did you find that vintage footage?
Thank you Ann! i''m glad i could be your unofficial "tour guide". There will be more vlogs and KW stories and locations coming in the next few weeks/months. The video clips were from a special filmed in 1973 when ABC Records was promoting him - it was called "Introducing Jimmy Buffett" You can more of it on RUclips - search "Tales from Margaritavision".
Buffett's eyes are red in the picture! LOL!
I never noticed that! and that's his driver's license too - lol. Good catch. Thank you for watching. Fins up!!
The B side of A1A is is a unique , you can't divide the 5 songs you must listen to them in the sequence Jimmy decided...so every song is sort a movement of a classic symphony...Buffett is some Brahms or Schumann two hundred years too late
Excellent way to describe Jimmy's music! I love it - and fully agree. Fins up - thank you for watching!
I'm a bigger fan of Coconut Telegraph.
@ 9:46 ?!?! Lol
I turned off the video when I saw the Dallas cowgirls hat 😆 Go Birds 🦅
@@jakethebeersnob Ha! I wish I had a comeback but my Cowboys deserve all the grief they get lately!
