Smell seems to connect me with memory on an extremely high level. If I randomly smell something from my childhood, it's like I've been whisked back in time without my brain even asking. If I walk by someone wearing my mom's perfume, a flood of memories and emotions scatter like birds inside my head.
Your memory can definitely fail you, I recently had an embarrassing flashback of something i wore and what was said on the shirt, and began worrying that people then were judging me? I found the shirt yesterday and it doesn't say anything but the logo. Nobody was judging me. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. I cant even trust my memories 😭
This came up with groceries in our house recently. I said something about, “Back when they used to key in the item numbers at Costco.” My husband told me, “That never happened.” I was like, “No, they used to have a helper read off the numbers while the cashier entered them. A long time ago.” He said, “That was literally never a thing.” Now I’m second guessing myself, wondering if I dreamed the concept or what.
i'm so early omg
