Betina was my great grandmother. It is incredible to be able to see your great grand mother and hear about how she met her husband. I grew up not too far from her in So Cal and we would visit but was too young to remember much. My grandfather was quite a fun man- I see where it came from. Thanks RUclips!
+Tami OBrien So delighted to hear from you-- thanks for taking the time to add a comment! I assume you're aware that Betina was on two other YBYL shows, both available on this channel. She was a real hoot!
Wow that is incredible. She was like my gramma, a great cook and funny. These lovely ladies are gone from today...honestly a tragedy. A lost art of great ladies...
she reminds me of my italian grandma, always emaculate, always in the kitchen wearing an apron, warm loving, gentle. cooked everything from scratch. raised 9 kids with grandpa.
I like Betina she is funny as hell! And Devine's son is very attractive. He was born the same yr as my dad 1935. Dad was also good-looking. Dad is deceased. I'm addicted to these You Bet Your Life videos. Groucho is hilarious!
My Dad was a 1932 model born an raised on a farm in Prague AR. At sixteen said that's not the life for me came to Michigan work in the truck plant at General Motors for 37yrs, Levis and a white t shirt, leather shoes, hare grease back is all he ever looked an wore. My mother said he was the finest looking man she ever seen.
As always, I'm so grateful you've uploaded these wonderful episodes. Paul Anderson, who overcame a childhood kidney ailment to become an Olympic weightlifter, died in August 1994 at age 61 in Vidalia, Georgia where he had run a home for juvenile delinquents for 30 years. Dennis Divine is still with us at age 77, wrote a book about his father and became a director & cinematographer.
As per-usual, I'm so very grateful that you've taken the time and uploaded these wonderful and memorable episodes of 'YBYL'. (I watched them when they first aired back in the day '50's-early-'60's!) Now, after a bit of Google 'research': Paul Anderson, who overcame a childhood kidney ailment and became a Gold Medal Winning Olympic weightlifter, died in August 1994 at age 61 in Vidalia, Georgia where he had run a home for juvenile delinquents for over 30-years. Dennis Devine is still with us at age 81. He authored a book about his movie star father, Andy Devine, and became a fairly successful director and cinematographer; working mainly on horror films such as: 'Canyon Passage' (1946), 'Lafayette Escadrille' (1958) and others.
Paul Anderson’s back lift is still the record I believe! My father and Uncle where very strong,my uncle was European freestyle wrestling champion and could lift a table with 3 people on it with his teeth! My father could lift up the back end of our Ford!I got their strength and at 16 lifted 250 lbs over my head!I became a champion weightlifter on a combined Army/Air Force Team out of Colorado Springs! We competed all over the US and won a lot of Championships with the other Services,Civilian teams and even went into prisons to compete against prison teams!
Maybe it's me, but internet has very little info on Denny Devine. Born 1939 and still with us at 81. Film director, writer, actor; appears none of it was top drawer. Seems such a great teen.. I'm sure it's all in his 2013 book "Your Friend and Mine, Andy Devine."

There was a bugs cartoon where a mother buzzard sent her kids out to hunt. This womans voice sounds just like the buzzard mother. Its great. 5:16 its called mama buzzard. Look it up. This woman has to be the , or could be the voice of mama buzzard.
Paul Anderson, billed as “the world’s strongest man,” performed at my high school roughly 20 years after this show. He demonstrated many feats of strength. Two I still remember were lifting eight high-school boys at once, and driving a 16-penny nail through a 2x4 with one blow, using only his hand.
Paul died Aug 15, 1994 age 61 of 'Bright's disease'..........probably too much 'egg whites' protein( I did research) and not enough water. I competed in Mr Oregon 1997.
To bad.. What a shame the cameraman shouldve caught the faces of the van nuys high school kids so their grandkids could watch them in today's day in age.....????
@@christinesutton6507 True, but inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index, between 1957 and 2019 was never constant and was typically below 5% per year. For example, in the last 62 years there were only about 10 years when the CPI was at or over 5% (this was during the 1970s and early 1980s). There are inflation calculators on the web that provide a year by year graph of the CPI inflation rate and are helpful in determine changes in buying power.

How fortunate you are! I think of Groucho playing straight man for Chico with your lovely Grandmother.

love your Grandma....great lady!
Tami OBrien I love this lady! This is one of my favorite episodes. Peace to you always.
This show is so light hearted, a joy to watch!
I am hooked, fabulous show 😂
He always had the most amazing guests. And he knew how to get the best stories out of them.
Groucho truly loved that Italian woman.
Betina Consolo sets an all time high record for delightful !

I read Dennis's book about his dad, Andy Devine. Andy was a good guy
It's great to see a time when people could take a joke, without filing a lawsuit...

I heard Paul Anderson's testimony on "Unshackled." Incredible man! (Still holds a weightlifting record, I believe.)
He was such a fine man. 💪🏻
There seem to be a honest and mostly a sweetness and kindness that I miss in today's youth.
Sister V ~ Thank you for this info. Blessings your way.
Paul Anderson is the MAN. Long before all these supplements.....just good old fashioned buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy😄

Hard to believe this was nearly 57 years ago. How time flies!
Dennis Devine b.Jan 24, 1939. Movie maker.
It shows you how people look much younger now at 60

Bettina - the ideal woman for some lucky fella.
Fenneman was so very straight that he made a perfect straight man for Groucho, who was so outrageous.

Love this been looking for this episode with paul anderson, a great man :).
She is precious
That lady is my family when I was a kid.
Thx for this great episode to the contributors
I first saw Andy Devine in the role of “Jingles” the sidekick of wild Bill Hickok television show. He later hosted his own show called “Andy’s Gang”.
The Italian lady was just wonderful!

Dennis Devine had the most beautiful eyes.
As the kids say, he was a hottie! Must take after his mom 👩 LOL
My word how remarkable Dennis resembles a friend of mine! I guess we all have a double.
That's Robert Mue!ler's mother.
Around this time..Mr.Devine's father was hosting:"Andy's Gang"saturday mornings on The NBC TV Network.
"Thump your magic twanger, Froggie!"
I don't think the Andy's Gang theme song would work today......"I got a gang, you got a gang, everybody's got to have a gang"..
Oh , yeah !! Froggy !!
Groucho was the best.

Terry Siedelman according To biography, he had it as a child before he got into weightlifting.

1,000 dollars in today's money (2019) would have the buying the buying power of just over $9,000.
Art Moss actually much more than that. With an inflation factor of just 5%, it would be about $15,000.

That Indian looking duck substitute was scary
Paul Anderson could do a full squat with 1200lbs. long after his Olympic days!
