750cc Cross Karts Gets Mufflers & Destroys Tires!

- We'd been having running problems with this 750cc motorcycle engine from a 1982 DOHC Honda CB750. We chalked it all up to carburetor issues, but comments from our viewers insisted that we needed back pressure on the exhaust in order for this motorcycle powered go kart to run better. Turns out, they were right! This custom UTV runs WAY better thanks to the mods we made in this video, including mufflers from a Harley Davidson motorcycle, new spark plugs, plug wires, and ignition coils. Can't wait to open this thing up again!

why u did it to it like that, u just needet to swop your headers side and tunrd them up and it will be les problems and will look better

Considering theres a few dead spots in the yard, probably some shade grass is in order and maybe a yard of black dirt to fill in the burnout ruts.

Now you have to find and fix the squeaking noise.
Probably bushings are worn.
the squeaking noise was the shifting lever by his arm you know the one they used before paddle shifters

@@toddb602 Or just have proper pivots with brass bushings or bearings, make sure it isn't rubbing against the frame, and get rid of the wobble (maybe with springs).
Using 2 cables instead of a bar would also be a good idea.
Try taking the Mufflers off and running straight pipes and see if it still runs good. Then you'll know.
Nope. Those engines are very finicky when it comes to straight exhaust and aftermarket carbs. You kids need to learn some engine knowledge before you spew BS

There were times when I was skeptical about this build. Some of the choices for the cart I didn't agree with but seeing it at this stage proves I was wrong. Awesome job guys!

Those mufflers sound so good. You guys did so well on this. Loud is cool but quiet with speed and just hearing the ground and the wind is like no other. A different world silence is.
I haven't checked out CarsandCameras for a long time. This is by far my favorite build you all have done. Great job

Just install cutouts. This way you can have it loud when you want and quiet when you need

At 8:23 left muffler is smoking a lot more than right as well, seems like more evidence you need balanced carbs?
One of the mufflers has a catalytic converter in it. They need a crossover pipe or they're going to always have that problem
Why would only one muffler have a catalytic converter in it, and not the other? Those mufflers came off a VTwin, and each bank has its own separate exhaust pipe. It would then need two cats..
Gabe Vogel usually the insulation wrap is what makes it smoke like that

Probably already addressed but does your fuel tank have a vent? without one the carbs will pull a vacuum on the tank.

I'm not a mechanic by any means but in 60 years I've learned that even with open headers you need a certain amount of back pressure just to keep the engine running and making horsepower. A great video Guys!!!

This is the best you guys ever did with a project. For one it looks badass, is fast, and you can power drift it. And I can see how it brightens your guys day just talking about it. Great job guys that's an amazing looking machine!

I had a Honda 350 F that had headers on it and one day I got a wild hair and opened the headers up. Sadly it was loud but ran like crap. Thanks, guys as always I enjoy your videos.

Do only only one thing at a time plugs , wires exedra it’s the only way do know but it’s much faster to do it all at once and not learn maybe next time ?

I have watched a couple of your videos on the cross kart and have been thoroughly entertained. But gentleman, i have to let you all know, when the big guy screamed like a little girl from the spider crawling up his shoe.. that was the moment i knew i had to click on that subscribe button, hahah. Sincerely, we appreciate what you all do and the hard work that goes into it. And if you ever find yourself in the midst of a shitty day, just build something great around it.. or you could just remember Ike, screaming like a girl at a Justin Bieber concert.

you get the matching carbs and check out the mufflers to ensure they are identical internally.
Gotta love it when you make a project quiet and it doesn't loose any power. Its even better when you GAIN performance! I think a top speed run is in order.

exhaust tuning to aid in scavenging the pulses out at a certain rpm range used in high rpm engines like formula and Indy cars, looks like you nailed it! what a sweet note 😃
I knew it needed some exhaust. a little back pressure goes a long way with those engines. I had an old cb750 and when I straight piped it it never ran right. It bogged and miss fired just like the cross kart. So glad it's doing better.

I like the way Ike thinks, who needs mufflers? Lol. I agree, merely a recommendation not a requirement lol. Im sure your neighbors appreciate the cross cart purring like a kitten. It would be cool to make an open valve piece to the exhaust that can be opened or closed when you really want to hear all 10 thousand rpms in a less populated area.
Also if the fuel tank does get too warm near the exhaust you could always make risers on the base and attach it to the chassis to get it above the mufflers. I don't think it will be necessary but something you should definitely check periodically during longer periods of testing ;)

Been saying it for a while that engine wasnt allowed to have the scavenging effect that multi cylinder engines love. Glad to see you put an exhaust on it and I bet if you pulled off the exhaust it would run like crap all over again
