Hey guys, these kind of videos are a hobby that I do outside my day job, I enjoy it.
And if there is a topic, or a company you would like me to cover, feel free to add it below this comment, and I'll put it on the list. Cheers!
Tata motors.
This was the longest automobile commercial I have ever seen! I loved every second of it thanks bud.
Thanks for the suggestion!
The 1955 GMC Task force and showing 1937. Interesting choice because i guess you couldn’t find a picture of a real ‘37.
When doing these videos, it would be nice if the pictures and videos actually matched what you are talking about. I E showing Studebaker trucks when speaking of the GMC. The videos and history are appreciated but more work on getting the right images is important as a picture is worth a thousand words.
Yes, the movie clips are ridiculous, and stop showing modern models when talking about the 1950s.
Thanks for the feedback, still learning, it's a hobby. These kind of feedbacks are worth so much for me. Appreciated!
Right....and clips from movies like Tucker and Ford v Ferrari!

As a kid in the 60's up here in Canada GM trucks were everywhere .
They were designated 910 for half ton, 920 for 3/4 ton and 930 for one ton.
The 960 was popular for medium trucks and I'd be amazed at the size of the big 980's with their 11:00 X 22.5 tires.
As a long time GM fan I've always loved a GMC truck or SUV and for my cars always loves a Cadillac or a Chevy . Currently own a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500 with the 6.6 Gas engine love that truck. Could never catch me in a Ford or a Ram
GMC for me is my go to. I’m a GM guy and when it comes to anything other than a sedan, I go to GMC. Which is why I’m getting ready to add a canyon into the mix. Hopefully Hummer will still be made by then when it comes time for me to get one!
What year for your canyon? My dad bought a 2008 gmc canyon single cab a couple years ago, and we're going to LS3 swap it soon, lower it and put a bunch of other upgrades to it. The canyon was my first car and has since been my favorite car of all time, other than the 63 split window lmao
Could have matched the pictures better to what you were saying, but overall pretty good
Thanks for the feedback, working on it ;)
In my area, the GMC vehicles are some of the biggest sellers. Their styling has basically shoved Buick to the curb in SUVs and the pickups are selling more than Chevy to people like retired guys and professional people.
As a gm worker at the fw assembly plant its always interesting to see our history. 2209 for life!
This dude knows about as much about GMC as my daughter.
My dad had a 1991 GMC Sierra extended cad 2WD with a 350 and a 5-Speed Manual and he said it was a beast and it was basically a Hotrod from the factory.
do truck makers still do extended cabs?
@@aljaberhk i think so
I have a 97, single cab, vortec, 5 speed manual work truck. dad bought it. gave to me in 2012. it still burns the tires off on some weekends haha. have to start in 2nd cuz 1st you'll likely chirp the tires a little haha. I love the truck. almost 300k miles.
When I was 10 years old, (ironically, 4 years before I could even get my permit) my dad gave me a 1959 GMC truck. It was discolored,, patched, had a mis-matched bed in a different shade of green, and was just rough around the edges all around. But by damn, it never failed to fire right up! Since I was too young to drive, it mostly saw use as a farm truck hauling limbs and dirt around home. In the winter, it pulled an old car hood as a sled. I wish I could track that old truck down. When I was 12, I agreed to let my dad trade it for a '66 Econoline van.
My dad still has a GMC today. An '08 Envoy. I have to say that whoever designed the Envoy must have been smoking some seriously strong stuff, But despite that, It's a real runner, and our dependable vehicle of the family, when others fail.
I still have respect for the GMC name.
I ended up with an 07 envoy when I got divorced. I hated it, but it grew on me and I’ll drive that thing into the ground! The 4.2 i6 just keeps going no matter what I put it through!
@@lancewilcoxson5549 If you are mechanically inclined, and do your own repairs, You will find that some seemingly normal, easy tasks are made incredibly insane by a poor design choice. For example, changing a thermostat.
Typical truck: Top of the engine, right up front. Two bolts. in, out, done.
Envoy: It's down on the drivers side of the block, below the alternator or AC pump One of the bolts is inaccessible from the top. Jack it up, take the drivers side front wheel off, go through the gap between the frame & fender with several extensions and a swivel. (Some dude did a short video about it and he compared it to other vehicles. he was mad as hell)
Changing the fan is another pain in the rear.
They run well, but working on them is a nightmare.
@@Cammi_Rosalie I did my thermostat all from the top, just took out the alternator and 5 minutes later reinstalling it. Every car has its pain in the ass things to fix. Over all I don’t have many complaints other then the front axel going through the oil pan 🤦♂️
All these truck companies are currently getting the beat-down they deserve. These vehicles went from being the working man's tools to something completely un-affordable for the average man/family. And then they doubled down! The last year saw massive price gouging markups and fools fighting to be next in line to get bent over. But now, they've used up their allotment of fools and all that remains is huge inventories and no buyers. So they'll slash prices....and there will still be no buyers. In 1988, a fully loaded Ford Lariat F-150 4x4 was around 10K. In today's dollars, that equates to around 25.6K, and yet in many cases they're trying to get north of 100K for these trucks. And yes, I know they're more "technical" these days, and have more safety features bla bla bla, but there is nothing to justify a 70K increase in price except pure corporate and stockholder greed. But really, how many of you can afford a 100K truck? 90? Even 60? I know I can't.... and those of us who can't, comprise the majority of buyers. It's time to press the reset button on just about everything affecting our lives and that's exactly what's happening right now.
i agree, i have a 9k$ dodge/cummins and i have just accepted the reality thats all i will ever be able to afford. wish i could buy/afford a new hd truck laramie package that gets more than 21mpg . reality is a cruel mistress
@@JO3BID3N-is-a-P3D0 -- I drive a rusty but trusty 98 Suburban. I'd take it anywhere and it would go. Two weeks ago, I was lucky enough to find another (1999) 100% rust free one with brand new tires, new A/C, new brakes, and a ton of other stuff. They gave me a 1,5" thick file full of receipts from day one, showing everything they did over the years and when. It was an Oregon truck, so no salt ever. It's absolutely immaculate and I traveled a long way to get it. I paid $1,500 for it because the guy ran it out of oil and was sick about it. But he decided to sell it, and I was first to see it. So yes, I'll have to stuff a new motor in it, and I want to take out the leather seats because leather looks like grandma's ass after the first year, but all in I'll have at most 6K into this amazing 4x4 and it will probably be the last truck I'll need at my age. I think what you'll see soon (already starting really) is that used, beat up, and what we used to call junk is going to start selling for insanely high prices because of supply and demand. I mean, if you need a truck and can't afford the extortion prices, what else can you buy ??
@@smartysmarty1714 i agree with ya man!
Bedford trucks which were built in the UK were owned by General Motors alongside Vauxhall cars. Bedfords were used by the British armed forces for many years, with thousands of them serving in WWll. A lot of them had a straight six engine from Chevrolet.
We had a 60 Vauxhall Victor Station wagon and a 61 Victor Super sedan.
Tough and a great motor and transmission.
Bad for rust but that had a lot to do with the undercoating of the time. I hear the 62 was a much more modern design.
They were impossibly narrow unfortunately.
I rode in a Velox and that was a much nicer car.
The narration bounces around all over. Going from 71-98 and back to the 60s to the 80s.
He also has a TopKick from the 1980s when he was talking about trucks from the '60's, and claims the Sierra came out in the '60's. That's wrong. It was a trim package that started out during the 1970's not only on pickups, but on medium-duty trucks.
And no mention of 70s trans mode motorhomes
Wow! You try to illustrate a 1937 GMC Carryall with pictures of a 50's era hot rodded GMC pickup.
Always been a fan of GM. Owned many of their vehicles. Never owned a GMC though. Going to have to make it a point to get one on the next purchase.
I do miss Pontiac! Ashame they ditched them.
I believe it was also the first truck to climb pikes peak
he mentions that in the video
August1-2, 1909. Rapid (root of GMC) scaled Pike’s Peak. Horizontal 2 cylinder, 24 horsepower reduced to just under 14 horsepower at the thinner air at 14,110 ft summit
The Sprints are what we in Australia Would call A Ute or aUtility 15:00
The Sprint was basically GMC's version of the Elcamino

I LOVE IT!!!! PLEASE BRING BACK THE SYCLONE.
I don't think you would want a Syclone from the future. It would be larger for the overweight people and a 4 door so GMC and the dealer would make more money selling you more product that is not needed.
@@Olds_Pwr all truck models come with the option of having 2 doors. They just always have 4 seats. I think a new syclone would be pretty cool if they made it to pay homage to the original
@@mikethedude571 How does a standard cab have 4 seats? So a 4 seat Syclone would be pretty cool? I would think to pay homage to the original, it should have the same characteristics, then again that is my opinion.
The thing I like about GMC trucks is that it's the same sheet metal and glass my Chevy truck uses.
I believe GMC and Chevys are on the same assembly line. I usually drive Chevys but I have three pickups and one is a GMC. They are basically the same. Motors, tramsmissions, suspensions, everything is interchangeable between the two.
As a bow tie guy I got a GMC and it’s was the same price as the Chevy
So GMC doesn't stand for General Motors Corporation 🤔
Its stand s for General moter corporation.. GMC G is General. M is Motors. C is Corporation
@@mattmonteith2175 Or perhaps Grabowsky Motor Company from the brothers Max and Morris Grabowsky.
@@Olds_Pwr Maybe using GMC was a nod to the company's history but it stands for General Motors Company.
That's what I thought. Until the government made them change to company for some legal reason.
I promise you all, there was never a Grabowsky Motor Company. The G in GMC never stood for Grabowsky. GMC originally was for General Motors Company. GMC was rooted in Rapid Motor Vehicle Company and Reliance Truck. The GMC brand was introduced to the public in January 1912 at the New York Auto Show. Grabowski brothers brought the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company from Detroit to Pontiac Michigan in 1904. Grabowski left Rapid in 1907.
Haven’t heard any scuttle but about Mary Barra. What has happened to her.
Probably busy setting up shop in Ukraine.
......And you could have talked more bout GMCS biggest trucks and the development of GM Diesel engines as well as the individual generations of GMC trucks!!!!.
So, correct me if I am wrong. Is the acronym GMC for the truck brand stands for General Motors Coach or General Motors Corporation?
Originally, General Motors Company.
First tihing I learned to drive was a 1934 GMC dump truck when I was twelve, the catch was I had to fill it before I could drive it.
Have you driven a Grabowsky lately??
I am so sad that the truck division has become so “soccer-mom-ified”, as I say. What I mean is that, back in the day, pickups and small SUVs were for dads and boyfriends, station wagons and minivans were for moms and girlfriends. So when they (truck companies) take the luxurious inside of a minivan and take a rugged design of a truck on the outside, in an attempt to grab everyone, they pushed away everyone.
I kinda had a dream of something where i was sitting at a desk having something to do with what i guss is Lemurians and Atlantis and then a ship sailing. Then there was like a concrete pad over

GMC as far as I am concerned has always been a notch above Chevrolet
Chevrolet is a offshoot of gm
@@ennissavage8141GMC, Chevrolet. Buick, Cadillac, (and previously Pontiac and Oldsmobile) are all divisions of General Motors.
This video contains some interesting history but is somewhat misleading. Your cursory acknowledgement that since around 1960 all GMC's are merely rebadged Chevys is too little too late (i.e. the Sprint, which was always an El Camino with a different grill). You portray GMC as though it's an independent company, making decisions such as "exiting the commercial and large-duty truck market..." These are GM corporate decisions and part of the reason it has declined from the No. 1 automaker in the world to No. 4 or 5, depending on the month. Its divisions are completely interchangeable. That's why Buick is dying (all SUV's for some reason, most of which are shared platforms with Chevy and GMC), and Pontiac, Olds, etc., are gone. GMC exists as a brand to provide a second channel (after Chevrolet) for GM to sell pickups and SUV's. There is no "GMC" company - it's a brand, like Kellogg's has Corn Flakes and Frosted Flakes.
GMC was aimed at large fleet/commercial buyers, Chevy was more aimed at smaller operators. By the 50s the main difference between Chevy and GMC - both small and large trucks - was trim and some engine variations. The big GMC General of the 70s had a Chevy version called the Bison. When GM sold off its large truck business to Volvo in the 80s, the remaining GMC light truck line became what it is today - a Chevy with more bling, that keeps the Buick dealers from going out of business.
GMC Sierra we do rust
What you see in the video, versus what you hear or read during playtime is contrary enough to be distracting and disabling to understand. I hear GMC and see Dodge too often.
We all have that one car we are convinced are bought by people who can't drive. For me it's the GMC Sierra.
Also I truely don't understand what's the point of GMC. Everything it could potentially offer can just be thrown under the Chevrolet brand.
Pontiac and Buick make more sense to me in terms of what they are trying and most of the time failed to offer.
Edit: I guess now they have the Hummer. But that will be such a low production vehicle that most people won't associate with GMC since the Hummer name is still remembered and was under its own brand.
A lot of GMC buyers want the upscale features but don't want the common man's Chevrolet name on their vehicle. It's about marketing and image and it works. It's the Buick of trucks and actually makes money for GM.
I always thought it was so the GM dealerships that didn't sell Chevrolets could have a truck line too.
Was this video put together with AI ? There some screwed information
GM should've got rid of GMC instead of Pontiac since they wanted to keep Buick for China.
We get fuvked either way. GM should have kept Pontiac and Oldsmobile and scaled back on Buick, dumped Hummer and not resurrected it until the other labels were stable.
I'm barely hanging on as a GM guy. The Buick/ China thing speaks volumes about who truly owns GM .
I'm still choking on the GMC/ Korea PILL.
** and NO, GM SHOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN RID OF GMC, NOR SHOULD THEY UNDER ANY CIRCIRCUMSTANCES.
If people would support USA companies instead of what is cheaper priced, for an example, perhaps many car companies would still be in existence. While my wife and daughter both own Hyundai's, yuck .
