My favourite chapter in this story arc, where you take down the R200 Club before they ever even see the protagonists. It used to take two separate chapters in instalments before WMMT4! This race in particular, and the chapter that follows, make you really feel like you're a direct influence on the story - especially since the R200 Club were originally trying to horn in on the race between Devil Z, Blackbird and Reina's R32 (with Kuroki observing the Devil Z) in the original story. Instead of them trying to outrun the protagonists on the Wangan and failing miserably, matters are taken into the player's own hands.
Exactly. My take on this is that, in most other missions there was other racers you had to take care of. Like a bossfight. But here, you're the bossfight. Groove of Group is your theme. You're fighting the self-proclaimed kings of the road.
