We recently sat down with New Orleans for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation he talked about the strip clubs in Atlanta, building a relationship with Quavo, his experience growing up in the 9th Ward of New Orleans, the city becoming more gentrified, jumping off the porch when he was 12 years old, being the oldest of all siblings, not leaving the city until he started making music, explains what inspired him to start rapping, recording his first song when he was 14, getting introduced to Lil Wayne a year after he started rapping, going to the studio with Wayne after rapping for him, the beginning of Squad Up which was the introduction of Wayne to the mixtape game, the birth of Young Money, reveals he is not sure how the Squad Up tapes spread, his experience traveling & touring for the first time, explains how he ended up on Wayne’s single “Mrs. Officer”, reveals it was some type of miscommunication for why he wasn’t in the music video, leaving Young Money, not having a conversation with Wayne for years afterwards, sampling 50 Cent on his song “Better Walk”, 50 reaching out to him after hearing the song, recalls his first time meeting 50, joining G-Unit, getting shot the same week he first met 50, recording his verse for “Haters” in Atlanta, traveling overseas with G-Unit, the creative process for “OJ” with 50 Cent & MikeWiLLMadeIt, recalls getting hit by a dirt bike at the music video for “Chase The Paper”, working with Prodigy, his single “Big Body Benz” with 50 & Lloyd Banks, the importance of fatherhood to him, his new single “Yellow Tape” with B.G., shooting the music video in Las Vegas, his upcoming 2 albums, reveals what inspires him to keep creating 20 years later, shares advice, and much more!
