Lyrics:
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice in the mornin' hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
As a John Denver fan, I’ll say this beautiful woman did an excellent job on this JD Classic. 👍
Far out.
Early 70s GOLD right here ,
1000000 views in 3 weeks. Very well deserved! Everything is beautiful in this video, the arena, the evening, the violin, the guitars, the vocals, and the artist.
I West Virginia we calll that a fiddle. LOL
💯!
I went and married a West Virginian some 25 years ago. My wife and I have traveled pretty extensively through Europe and made many new friends in pubs. Whenever anyone in any country hears she is from West Virginia - they immediately start singing this song. We've heard it in probably 7 different languages too! It is amazing to us that such a humble song about a humble place could be so embraced worldwide. You've done a beautiful job capturing it and presenting it as your own. Well done, Ms. Sara!
I work at the pub in Rome , when some says, he’s forme West Virginia I always answer “country roads” and put this song 🎶
GREATINGS FROME ROMA !!!
Canon la chanteuse 😊 And great sont, sure
I come from Reunion island and I play this song with my kids on my guitar
I think, everyone in the world knows your song :D
Not many people are not that well-read/around educated to know the reason why there is a Virginia- and a West Virginia though.🤔A simple answer is the U.S. civil war. Greetings from Stockholm, Kingdom of Swden!
@@17461771 Yes, the counties that became West Virginia could not form a new State without the consent of the existing State. They wanted to form a new State even before the war, but couldn't. So it took the secession of Virginia from the United States to pave the way for those counties to form the new State.
This is probably the best, most beautiful live performance I have seen of this song. Well Done! Bravo!
so slow..
Yep, a wonderful job on the tune. Cheers.
Agree brilliant
Love it. Will this be released on an album?
I worked for John Denver for many years and also became long time friends with his lead guitarist. Sadly they're both gone but the great memories remain. Thanks for this great rendition of his classic song.
My cousin in the south of Austria loves this song the most. I always had to sing it when I was there and she sent me videos when she sings it with her friends. Great song.
@@chrp3229Where is this stadium?

I miss John Denver and his great band too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. This next generation helps to keep his memory alive. 😊
So good to see your post about knowing John. I miss him & his music so much & I hope to see him on the other side one day….
This is a long story, I'll shorten it, so please no comments on grammar. 30+ yrs ago somewhere in east Thailand. 16 guys from 10 different countries. Every evening same bar hangout. Come closing time the waitress would put country roads in the tapedeck, turn volume to max, and we would sing our adopted national anthem top of our lungs. End of our time there, we said we'd meet same bar 350 days later. Internet and email did not exist of course. So 350 days later I went alone into same bar at 1400 hrs. Same girl there said nothing at first but played country roads. Thought it was coincidence. I told her I was there the year before. "Yeah, I know. You're the coca cola on the rocks guy. This your national song. Your friends coming too?" By 1800 hrs 15 guys made it.
Thats awesome man. Memories for life
Sometimes the bonds of friendship is stronger than the bonds of blood. I wish you all the best my man. I too love this song and I live in South Africa
To forget during three minutes earth wars !
Great story
O
Glad this showed up just now, never heard of her until now ! Greetings from UK
The complete package.Great song, lovely voice, beautiful lady.
Beautiful voice! I taught this song to my son when he was 3, and we would sing it together. When he married, he chose it as our mother/ son dance song. Good memories!
Ahhh, what a sweet visual. You're blessed. Thanks gut sharing.
Far out
Just wanted to let you know that I will always remember this performance. My first time in Australia and my first time at an AFL match. I was sitting in the stands, 10,000 miles from home and got to sing along in this beautiful moment with 30,000 other fans. Loved this song growing up. Thanks for the great memory.
Did the fans enjoy it also?
@@billtravis100 I'm going to say yes. The whole stadium was singing at the end.
How awesome was it! I flew 1000km from North Queensland to watch the lions too - ps I hope you're a lions supporter now :D did you enjoy the game?
Greetings from Tucson! If that was the match against St Kilda, I was there as well! Last try brought out the song (although I go sick of hearing "Let it go")
Yawn
A gift to the world...John Denver. RIP
The 70s had a lot of the best song writers of all time heres proff JOHN DENVERS SONG
Sara being a Mountaineer myself from West Virginia and living in those precious mountains I approve of this. When you sing this song think of how long it has been since you have been to that special place that holds your soul. When I was in Afghanistan or anywhere I would listen to this song either in my head or headphones and I would instantly be there. Those country roads can be anywhere that leads you home. Thank you young lady!
Wow!! I need to hear more!! Greetings from Dublin ❤
she has passion in her voice!!!!!!!!!! That Smile!!!!!!
Too bad the crowd didn't get into it or the mics didn't pick it up.
I love the uniqueness of her voice. She did a very nice job on an American classic song.
1 million views on youtube 🎉🎉 well deserved Sara
From Chicago USA 🇺🇸. Thanks!!!😊
Need to be on spotify! Beautiful cover and voice. Mr Denver would be proud to hear it, RIP big man and greetz from germany❤

Damn, She's got soul in that voice.. Well done!
That’s my niece ❤
beautiful too
and she has an adorable face
Awesome performance!
YES SHE DUZ YES YES YES
I think what I like best about this amazing cover is you didn't oversing it. Instead you allowed some of the melancholy under the joy to come out. This song was always about both, and you allowed us to feel that. I'm home on the country roads, but it's been too long....
Yeah. She kept it a very White version 🇺🇸
Finally! It’s great to hear this in the Appalachian Style it always should have been played! Thank You!
Amasing song! and obsiously a huge talent from Sara
She can sing and is one beautiful woman. God blessed her in every way .
agree , very true
Because they have Hungarian ancestry!😁😍
100%
She blessed herself by working hard!
It helps
Being a Kiwi living in Australia for the past decade, I have to say that Australians are truly a great nation of people. I work in concrete, and some of the toughest & and hard-working men are in the industry are incredible. I often think about how similar but different Australia is to America just by the fact of how they love their countries and work hard to keep their country liveable. As an ANZAC, it's an honour to be gifted living here. We go to war together, and we work together even being the "Little Brother" isn't an insult, but an actual praise.
ditto bro
I love you Aussies and Kiwis ...ya'll good people....we do share some heartfelt similarities...we family. 🙂
Beautiful voice, thankyou.
She captured the song beautifully
It's supposed to be a love that warms your soul. She delivered that perfectly

Born and raised in West By God's Grace Virginia. Proud mountaineer. Mountaineers are always free. Love your voice. Beautiful song choice.
So you should know that none of the places mentioned in the song are in West Virginia, but actually in Virginia, western part.
Go away troll!@@luncho12491
@@luncho12491 You are wrong. Those places are indeed in WV.
@@luncho12491 a simple Google search and looking at a map will debunk your statement. Please do your research. The Blue Ridge mountains run through 8 states, including West Virginia. The Shenandoah River also flows through West Virginia.

Thank you Sara for this beautiful rendition. Remember hearing this on the way to California before I went into the Army in 71, a bright spot during a dark time.
I don't usually like covers of this song....but this one is good. Unique voice and not a crazy version. Good stuff. Hello from East Virginia.
Wow! Thank you so much for this comment 😊 Hello to you from across the pond! Here in Aus
@@saraberkimusic Thanks for the response. Been coming back to this video to watch it. Great cover. West Virginia is beautiful (went rafting there last year) but I'm biased to East Virginia where I live. Ha! Maybe you'll play here sometime soon!?
Wow! Just wow! I’m visiting Australia from the US just now and stumbled upon this rendition of a favorite of mine. Amazing rendition of an iconic American song by this Australian singer. Just wonderful.
What a beautiful rendition of a classic song. I love that Sara kept it true to the original but added a few vocal inflections to make it her own (along with simple orchestration... which is a compliment).
Absolutely one of my favorite songs as a child. And still one of favorite songs now.. and also my go to karaoke🎤song lol .. my uncle was a country singer and he would sing that song.. it literally was so amazing you would have to leave the room or be in tears..literally hits those heart strings in way like no other. Excellent rendition of this legendary song of beautiful West Virginia! This video has quickly become Sara's most viewed video, by far!
The song isn’t about West Virginia, it’s about western part of Virginia. Just look up where the Shenandoah River is, or the blue ridge mountains, all in Virginia.
Dude you must be from Virginia,, it’s all beautiful whether West Virginia, or the western part of Virginia, it was all one state until partition into two, the beautiful country roads flow into both, Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah River, and of course the magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains. I don’t think the song would sound right singing “western part of Virginia” instead of the world famous “West Virginia” @@luncho12491
Can you please stop! Ever heard of Harper’s Ferry WV
From a native West Virginian, great job! I doubt you've ever traveled to the Mountain State. I recommend it. West Virginia is at once an obscure, small, and impoverished state and a land of natural beauty and unlimited dreams. While it is certainly heartwarming, I still find it somewhat odd that John Denver's song would be song around the world by many peoples who have no real appreciation for West Virginia. Perhaps, it's the appeal of nostalgia and the hope for a homeland that is somehow oblivious to modern troubles, but Country Roads has touched the hearts of millions around the world and is quite naturally, a heartfelt anthem for all West Virginians,
I would love to buy a house near Harper's Ferry close to retirement, but I'm worried. I've been all over these States and they've been great to me, but there's moments here and there where I'm not welcome, and so was my roommate in Kuwait who was denied a job in WV because he wasn't white.
How bad is the racism there now?
The song is not about West Virginia at all actually. It was written while he was thinking about driving on New England backroads when young.
While working in Dutch Harbor AK in 2009. I was singing "Take me Home" Karaoke at the local bar: UniSea Bar. Thru the first verse, I heard a voice that said:
"Sir, I am from West Virginia, can I sing this song with you?"
There he was, this young Coast Guard recruit docked in Dutch Harbor, AK.
I replied:
Get a Mic...…
and, so He did....
That made my day...
I loved John Denver growing up. He is one of the reasons I started to play guitar, and to write songs in my youth. He has been a big mentor in my music career.
Being so far away from home. This song brought me home every time.
Still now, when I sing this song in any bar, the whole bar sing in one voice.
Is like,
we all want to go home...…
Sara did a great rendition of this song...…Love her voice, and the way she placed the song...…excellent!
I think John would approved.

We saw John Denver live in Toronto, Canada just a few years before his death. With only his dad with him he entertained in a amphitheatre outside as the audience mostly sat on an overlooking hill. He was mesmerizing with his pure voice & social skills. I hope somewhere above amongst the clouds he continues entertaining the angels & those all around him. Bless you John & to this young lady who did your song proud. 🙏🇨🇦👍

If you sing that song in an American stadium you would have 60,000+ singing the chorus. I would definitely buy a ticket to listen to you sing for a couple hours. Good luck to you!❤
I grew up with this music, although I am not from a country where country music is famous (Uruguay) thanks to my dad who always listens to it. The other day I showed him this song and he was excited to know that there are still young artists who love country music!
Hi, I'm from Denmark which ain't a typical country music country either. But when I was a kid, there were one weekly program called "the country express" with an intro of an old steam train. My father loved it, and I remember how to sit in the kitchen listen to the music on the transistor radio 50 something yrs ago. Dad is long gone, but my iove for country music stayed, and even transferred to my kids. Perhaps something about being a redneck living in rural areas kind of thing....
