Hi Danny, great video mate, a few year ago I felt the same like you when I lost a big gilthead in Portugal, so, I know (unfortunately) the feeling 😅.Large gilthead bream are very difficult to fish, if the hook goes inside their mouth, when hooked, they always bite to free themselves, their teeth are so strong that they can break the hook, and they can easily break the line. I always fish with reliable and resistant hooks, kamakatsu F314 numbers 1, 2 and 4, and chinu foraged hooks numbers 2/0 and 4/0 from Sasame, chinu from Cox and Rawle. Hooks are very important to be strong , for this specimen shack and fight, and sharp for better penetration. I'm from Poole and passionate about gilthead fishing, last season I was struggle to find a good spot from the bank ,so, this season, I'm planing to chase gilthead and I will do a tutorial about the rigs I use for shore fishing. Good luck my friend and keep up the good work, and tigh lines Kindest regards Fernando...
Everyone needs a good “one that got away” story mate but that’s a great day none the less. I’m gonna try from the shore there this year for them I think see if I cant find an easy shore mark I can work.
Hi glad you enjoy vids!, I generally use navionics boating app to find "fishy" looking marks, thinks its £30 a year on phone/device this coupled with a fish finder gets you bang on location.......☝️ but for pool harbour, Google maps shows all main channels deep sections 😃
Thanks Lee!, ...... generally, I start fishing for them in late April, but normally a bit further west ( Kingsbridge). I'm sure they probably turn up in Poole Harbour around the same time, but to be sure I'd say May would be the time to start having a serious go for them.... That's when I'm gonna start my campaign this end of the country!💪😎🎯
Hi mate what tides are the best to fish Poole harbour? I was down there on a 1.6m and the weed was horrendous weed on my lure every cast and I was fishing roughly where u was
Hi Lee, Think the best tides are mid range tides, I've fished on springs and the weed can be a nightmare!🙄......that said this is the time of year when we also have "may rot " and thats and issue!.......... I'd stick with building tides coming off neaps..... but with any venue there can be times when weeds horrendous whatever the tide/sea state.... 👍👌
nice one Danny well done on the Giltheads... really really disappointing to lose this fish...
Thanks buddy, I was a little disappointed 😆🎣
Loving this Poole Harbour series. Too bad for that one that got away.. Next season! :)
Thank you fella, can't wait for the spring 👌🤞
