Why doesn't the bonnet open? What's under all that real estate? The boot doesn't appear to have a lot of depth either - presumably the floor space is taken up by the motor and batteries. Strange to not have at least a small 'frunk' in the front given the eye watering price tag
If you can't see the presenter then most likely the footage is supplied by the dealer/distributor/manufacturer. Interior shots with presenter are from mounted GoPro or similar, so you're probably correct. CarExpert always has a cameraman. Igor is his name I think.
I ordered a BMW iX 50 in March, delivery is due in December 2022. It is an absolutely awesome car to drive. The interior is spectacular. It's straight line speed is quicker than that of a similarly priced Porsche Taycan, it is more luxurious inside than a Mercedes EQS sedan and with better ride quality, it can tow 2.5t and has a real world range of 450km to 500km (400km on a motorway at 120km/hr) with quick charging and no range anxiety. The handling and cornering is great as long as you don't drive it like a race car, if you want that you may prefer the iX M60 due out in July, or a simarly priced Porsche Taycan. I agree the price is too high, but $45k of the drive away price is tax (LCT, GST & SD), so this is not BMW's fault. I would like it if you could get the iX40 with the iX 50's battery pack. I found the iX 40 also a great car but it only has 320km of real world driving range, which is not enough in Australia with current EV charging infrastructure. The car looks bold and impressive. I do prefer more curvy looks and a raking rear roof line, but I found with all of those prettier cars you lost out on rear seat space and your knees get pushed up around your chin with the batteries under the floor and I found them unacceptably uncomfortable. The iX is a great all round car and you get what you pay for. In my opinion the best 3 cars available in Australia are the Porsche Taycan, Mercedes EQS and the BMW iX 50. All are class leading but the iX is the most practical luxury EV available in Australia with great performance, handling, ride quality and interior fit out and it will be a joy to own.

I understand it was three years, but wasn't it changed recently? I hope it's at least five years now. Even Toyota go beyond five years if their maintenance schedule is followed.
I remember when i saw this in pictures i said to myself it was genuinely the ugliest car ive ever seen, but after seeing one in real life i really like what theyve done, they have a lot of presence and look great, especially in dark colours,
Could be one of the few vehicles that looked horrendously ugly in photos but even uglier in real life. I pity the person driving this digusting pig thinking people are staring because it's pretty when they are actually thinking how ugly this thing is.
Good review. Its a nice car, a bit overpriced and the exterior looks anything but impressive. My first impression seeing this car's exterior was that of a rodent. The designers just made a cardinal sin. They forgot, eye appeal is the best appeal. What were they thinking? The integrated day time running lights on the BMW seem to be similar to the Skoda Kamiq (although, I do like the lights better on Kamiq). BMW you can surely do better than this. Change is the only thing constant and unfortunately, the designers have all but forgotten to do so. TBH, it looks like an overpriced ugly duckling. Time will tell if turns into a Swan.
BMW really need a new designer
Agreed, it's hideous.
Or rather, a new head of design.

To me it seems a surprisingly small interior and boot for a five-metre car. But it does have exotic materials like carbon fibre and aluminium. 🤔 😉
How did that screen pass crash tests
Did BMW borrow the Subaru designers? :)
Two things against the IX.
1, It's the most ugly car on the planet.
2, Its stupidly expensive.
I gonna give you 100000 likes
Can't argue with the look, some people like it, more people hate it. But I thought it's similarly priced to a Etron and EQC?
A year on they are selling demos for 85k
Difficult to believe this came out from BMW. It’s like saying: “look how pain resistant I’m. I shoot myself in my leg”
Haha, great comment. 😄
At first sight, this vehicle looks faintly like a Hyundai i30 - but the price !!!!
Facelift urgently needed.
You’ll have to wait a few years for that.
Can one fit roof racks or tow bar on this car?
Well it has a rated tow capacity of 2500kg so I guess you can. Not sure what manufacturer fitted towbar options there are though.
18:10 "Leaving the car idling..."??
I mean, technically the motor is idling, yes.
Sorry, this SUV does not look good in the full black motif. It's hiding the pretty great features of the design.
SUV....?
Surely not it's a station wagon car.
In my opinion
Looks good and black any other colour emphasises that grill, which is just a disaster 🤣
I think Chasing Cars videos are done without a camera person

Why do you say that ?
Good review but add chapters
I am going to stick my neck out and say that it looks pretty good in white and black
Absolutely hideous in anything else though
I feel this way about the GLE and GLC coupes.
Great review of a great car.
Very astute comment.
I already read its name as ai-Ten thinking it must resemble what iPhone names its phone.

@@frednurk5803 That was not my comment.
Lol if Hyundai designed this in the 90's
Mostly nice interior, ugly front grille
Shows in warranty😂😂😂, how much they think it will be Reliable not @@@

Who WOULD buy that? Shows car reviewer’s bias towards European cars. Lexus grills are far more elegant than any BMW grills these days.
What bias?
@@chasingcars not yours in particular. Generally. Would you agree?
@@chasingcars Haha, I've mentioned this before. Just add a "Hahah" or a 😄and you will seem less confrontational.
Great car and great review.
It looks good in black, other colours not so much.
For reference, I hate the M3/M4.
A pentagonal steering wheel, seriously? Crazy ppl
bEAver
Best in white for sure

Dark colours hides its ugliness better :) but the interior is great
Really? Its just as ugly in real life.
Looks good in black but I have not yet warmed up to the funky design inside. I love the new interior on the 7.
It’s different, also very ugly.

I hate that I like it. Only in certain colours though.
The car is ridiculous.
