      If any rugby forward played NFL they would be by far the best. Even amateur rugby players from tier 1 nations would murder American footballers on the field. American football is a contact sport, rugby is a collision sport.

    • @heights163
      @heights163 5 лет назад +8

      Hyrum Leuea lmaooo there’s a lot more technique and IQ into fball than just hitting. He would be a lost duck getting hit from every angle if he didn’t have the IQ. Just like American footballers would in rugby. Don’t be ignorant.

    • @arnarmagnusson8201
      @arnarmagnusson8201 5 лет назад +4

      heights163 true I think Hyrum leuea spoke a bit hastily. Rugby is more of a game of maintaining structure and order whilst simultaneously hammering your opponent and constantly keeping the pressure on them. Whilst NFL is more about individual skill about beating your opponent 1 v 1 and as the play stops after every tackle you can coordinate set moves and plays designed to confuse and misdirect players this causes NFL players to be specialised into their roles whilst rugby players tend to be more all round players in both attack, defence, strength and speed whilst nfl players are super strong but no speed such as linemen or speedy and agile such as receivers. I am not saying that these linemen can’t be fast or these receivers can’t be strong but I am saying in general. I would say that a rugby player is most like a running back in the nfl.

    With Lomu he started out as a forward, and when he switched to the backs it wasn't a fair contest 99% of the time.

    Manu Tuilagi was only 21 when he threw De Villiers. He's only 22 now. At 18, he was cutting up (an admittedly second string) springbok team. Besides, these days, there are organised defences, very solid tackling, and much bigger players. Lomu would of course still be a phenomenon, but not more so than a guy like George North or a Tuilagi brother.

    Henry Tuilagi is arguably the strongest rugby player of them all - Sheridan has that reputation, and it's fair - he benches 250kg. But they gave that weight to Tuilagi... he repped it. That's outrageous strength, no wonder he managed to throw Joe Van Niekerk like that... But vs Lomu? I'm pretty sure they would both run straight over the other.

    fair comment, but as players they are totally different. Tuilagi is a forward and so looking for contact is inherent in the way he plays, combined with that is that generally he is running lines off the 10, 9 etc as an 8 and so his purpose is to suck defenders in closer to the prior contact and so release the quicker and more agile players outside when they throw it wide and there are fewer defenders. Lomu (did this as well) but more often than not was running to score.... read how u want
