As a former high school custodian, I would say she spent at least 45 min doing all that just for that one room . She must not have that big of an area to cover if she can take that amount of time per class room. But she did do a good job. But in reality you usually don't have that kind of time to spend unless it's summer or winter break.

@0ddMonk3y Just work around any books or if you need to move any then put them back when your done. If paper is on floor then it's trash. Anything on the floor is considered trash except for a text book, or piece of clothing like a jacket or something like that. The trick is to develop a routine that works for you, and do it the same way every day in the same order in every room. Start with any dusting as needed, if any lights are burnt out then replace them, then clean chalk boards and the tray's if there's any, a piece of a dust mop works well for chalk boards. Then hit the floor... vacuum or sweep, we would use a small lobby broom they work best. See link below. You might need to copy and past the link into the address bar and then hit enter.
      www.agbuildingsupplies.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BRO%2DCORN%2DLOBBY%2DS
and one of these black metal dust pans like the one in this next link.
      www.supplyworks.com/Sku/imp4216-90/impact-metal-dustpan-black-16-in-729661193363-4216-90
Bend the handle up so you can fit a piece of a broom handle about the size of the lobby broom handle into it, and cut to a length that you like to fit. That's the quick and easy way and you should get by for a couple of day's without having to vacuum. That works pretty good most of the time, but there's always going to be some rooms that are just a complete mess no matter what and you will need to break out the vacuum. Empty pencil sharpener if there is one, and then last empty the garbage and replace liner if it needs it, and do any wet mopping of rooms last and don't walk back on the floor until it's dry or you'll just be wasting time going over what you just finished. Make sure you put wet floor signs or cones down for safety just in case someone happens to walk in the building or room to let them know the floor might be wet. That's for classrooms, office's etc. For hallway's just sweep and then wet mop, or vacuum if it's carpet.
For bathrooms same thing. Have a routine and do each thing the same way every day in the same order.
Start with cleaning any graffiti writing on walls, stalls or mirrors. {Keep up with this because if you let it go for even one day there will be a lot more to clean off and you'll have to work 10 times harder which takes up more time to remove.} Sweep floor, then clean sinks and mirrors, restock toilet tissue and hand towels, clean toilet's and urinal's, be prepared for clog's every now and then. A long bbq tong or a good plunger works quite good. Empty garbage can, and mop the floor last. Ring the mop real good as you go so the floor will dry faster, and always rinse the mop and bucket real good when your done. Don't leave dirty mop water or mop in the bucket over night !! When you leave, the bathroom's should smell good. Lock them up after mopping for a half hour if you can to let the floors dry good. Or if no one is there and the building is closed then keep them locked.
Remember... Same thing, Same way, Every room, Every Day. If you try and switch it up, you will most likely end up falling behind.
Keep any drinking fountain's and entry way windows and door handle's in your building clean. People do notice those. Here's another tip. If thing's look clean when you first enter the building, people will be less likely to look for thing's wrong. First impression is key to not getting any complaints.
And last,, Always wear gloves !! Trust me on this. There will be many times when you'll be glad you did.
Also try not to complain too much. That's the hard part lol Principal's and Teacher's hate that and you can get a bad reputation.
Use good judgement and common sense and you'll do just fine.
Try to spend no more than 15 - 20 min per room. But sometimes you need longer and that's ok, just not for every room. You will get idea of how long it takes to clean your area's once you get a routine going. If you couldn't get to or finish something, leave a note for the head custodian explaining what and why, that way when he comes in the next morning there's no unexpected surprises for him to have to deal with while he's still half asleep.
Sometimes you might need to go light due to other thing's that come up. If so, at least empty all the garbage's and pick up the big stuff off the floor's and under desks and tables like paper, pencils... anything that would be real noticeable etc. Speaking of tables and desks... clean the tops of those as needed. It don't take too long for that.
Never mix Ammonia and Bleach together EVER !! That will create a poison gas. Same thing when cleaning bathroom floors and toilet's. Urine has ammonia in it and if you use bleach on the floor or toilet.... well you get the idea. In fact in a lot of state's now it's illegal to use bleach for bathroom cleaning in school's.
Keep in communication with the head custodian every day. Sit down before shift and hang out if you can. By doing that the head custodian will feel like he/she will feel that they can depend on you and that you will do a good job.
      Hope this helps.

edacs1 as a middle school custodian she can not spend so much time in each room to much to do in a certain amount of time I do agree you gotta have a routine.

@@JinxReignz I’m sure it’s for educational purposes for breaking down cleaning and not a janitorial speedrun.

06:30 minutes for that little room. Now just think in a real size school.
