- Following the dockyard closures, Salford Quays has been regenerated on a colossal scale. Today, the area thrives from a world-class media-hub, luxury waterfront developments and landmark arts venues.
In contrast to the City Centre, The Quays enjoy ample space, with dockland panoramas lined by leisurely, traffic-free promenades.
Home to The Lowry and Imperial War Museum North, Salford Quay's forms a cultural epicentre: providing art, film, history and the latest theatre shows - whilst discerning shoppers can indulge at the Lowry Outlet mall, offering high-street brands and restaurant chains, as well as gym facilities and a multi-screen cinema.
The Metrolink provides transport throughout the Quays and connects you to the entire city. At the end of the line is Media City UK, a vast multiplex of studios and offices that house an array of television, radio, production and communication enterprises, including the BBC, ITV and the famous cobbles of Coronation Street.
Across the docks wields the world famous global sports brand, Manchester United, on home turf at Old Trafford. From the hub of the Helly Hanson Watersports centre; sailing, rowing, wind surfing and wakeboarding are commonplace at the Quays, with various basins dedicated for outdoor activities including organised triathlons and regular outdoor swimming events. Exquisite restaurants and bars are tucked amongst Media City's thoroughfares, and the high-end supermarket, Booths, lavishes grocery essentials. Stylish apartments and wharf-side properties populate the area, whilst future developments continue to rise with the ever increasing demand.

This has been my home... work for a while now

Bring it on! Great city
This has been my home for a while now....love living here.
this is my geography hw lol
People moaning about this are clueless. A city should have variety and choices. Manchester/Salford were way ahead of the game when this was planned and put into action. If you don't like it fine there's inner city grime if you want that, or lovely towns and villages like Altrincham and Lymm. You should try living in Brum like I do where the idea of innovation was to build Brindley Place, knock down McDonalds and a music pub and build an Albert's Schloss. The only good thing my city has done in the last 30 years was build the Symphony Hall which is excellent!
My geography h/l
Visually appealing!
I was born and breed in salford And lived in Salford all my life, I refuse to ever go to the city within a city. Its sucked the life out of the rest of the city..The people of Salford deserve better
I walk across the iron bridge into Salford quays and it is a disgrace, the weeds, litter, overgrown shrubs. And walking back to get to Chester road on the five pedestrian crossing is very depressing seeing it all. I have never seen anyone attempting to clean this area up.it would be a start to get gardeners with weed killer and a strimmer. Or get Salford council to have a look.
I agree! 2 weeks ago the strong winds brought a lot of rubbish into the Quays, but it's looking a lot better again now.
No point seeing Salford council as Chester road isn't in Salford. Its in Trafford.
You must have a very easy life if "weeds and overgrown shrubs " are a "disgrace" to you.
Grew up in salford during early 90s and it makes me so upset how much it's changed. It use to be full of rough working class people and they were decent people ..and now it's full of bun wearing rent boys.
Looks like postmodernism is doing a comeback, unfortunately.
