I love these boats, the shape is timeless and the hull is perfect for rough seas. Great value for money. My brother did a full restoration on a 1985 caribbean 23, new power plant and the hull is painted a dark blue, its a real head turning boat. Congratulations on a beautiful boat for your family mate, fun for years to come.👍
Hi Rob. Thank you for your comment. I totally agree with you. Excellent sea keeping. They are little bull dozers when conditions deteriorate. Your Bro's 23 sounds mint ! I bet it receives a lot of love.
@@onthelooseadventures he is a boat builder and the amount of work and hours he put into it is ridiculous. Definitely something you would only do once in your life haha.
Not a problem, thank you for watching. I'm actually currently converting to outboard. I'll post a video very soon of the whole project. However in answer to your question.. At the time of purchase in 2109 the diesel option incurred a price difference of around 30k AUD which was hard to justify.
@onthelooseadventures Yes, $30k can buy a lot of fuel. Outboards will be more efficient than what you have. I look forward to the next instalment. Cheers
Don't be surprised if the outboard isn't that much more efficient. Maybe a tad. I'm assuming other factors prompted your decision, reliability ? @@onthelooseadventures
Hey mate great video, I’m looking at this exact boat engine combo, apart from the water pump did you find it to be a reliable engine? Also how is the fuel economy with the 4 blader at cruising speeds
Hi Gary. I found 3500rpm the sweet spot, burning 38L/h for 20 knots. Was reliable untill At 500 hours (4 years old) a riser suffered a blocked water passage which warped the head causing hydrolock. Maybe just unlucky 🙄 anyways I've now converted it to outboard.
Hey Dale ! These south easterleys have kicked in so we are in limbo atm gargh.... The lower helm seat is fine up to 2m swell but anything over or if it's short and sharp I swing the left leg down on the floor for support 🤙

8:11 You said "aft" whilst looking into the forward cabin. Aft is the inside (on board) rearmost part of your vessel.
Thank you Ferg :)
Lovely boat, congratulations
Thank you 🙏
Nice run through mate, I’m sure you’ve got some great fishing/family adventures in store this summer
Cheers Sean. We definitely do mate. It looks like “non stop” atm
Thank you for the induction to your boat. Did you ever consider a marine diesel and why did you go for the Mercury? Cheers

It certainly will. I've decided on a new single Verado V8 300. Being fitted next week

@@bobbuilder5362Hey mate. Decision was made 100% on reliability. More deck space will be nice too. Engine to be fitted next week
Doh!! I modified my transom for the Bennett auto level tabs…. Still be fun to play with haha thanks for the videos!
You made it work and that's what counts. Cheers for commenting mate. More videos to come over the coming months
Awesome boat and fantastic walk through. Very jealous 👌🏼
Thank you mate !
Thank you for sharing regarding boat , i hope to have a boat in time.
All the best with your adventures. Thank you for watching 😊

Love it. Thanks for the run through. What do these retail for?
Hi Nick. Boat sales is showing current pricing at approx 160k. That would be without trailer and electronics package.
@@onthelooseadventures Great. Appreciate the quick response
Great video. Carrabean should be paying you. Any vids of her up and running?
Cheers mate 😀 she's currently undergoing a transformation at the moment. Watch this space 👌
Can't wait !
Keen for the next adventure video 👍 how do you find driving from the bottom in rough conditions as you can't stand to drive

Gee that must be close to 3.5t. That inboard isn’t light
Yes very close Josh. 3350kg on trailer loaded with gear, water, 50% fuel & inflatable tender with Suzuki 2.5hp portable.
I have a caribbean 2300 with a 350 yamaha and it's 3.3T with fuel and water. Not to much gear on board

@bobbuilder5362 the one was calibrated as it is government. Also same as claimed from purchase when new.
