    Jayhawker, I’m enjoying your 327 build. Quick tip: I have the same intake on my 68 Chevelle wagon with a 327 (BBQ-jet intake). It was missing the stainless steel shim at the carb base and was boiling the fuel in the Edelbrock carb. I added the stainless shim, correct gaskets to block the exhaust crossover under the primaries and added a Qjet insulation gasket under the adapter plate. It runs fine now. As you mentioned, intake gaskets with blocked exhaust crossovers would also solve this problem. Good luck with your build!

    Those flat top pistons should be fine on regular pump gas, you can cheat a little with a thicker head gaskets to help lower the compression.

      To raise compression Chevy used .015" stainless steel head gaskets. Used on LT1 350's.

    If there were some claim to fame for me, it would be the number of taps I've snapped off. That was heavily on my mind as I watched the sped-up part of the video with the tap operation progressing quickly. I was sad when it happened to you! I do believe your recovery from that event was better than most of my recoveries. With the small taps, it really is difficult.

    I have drilled and tapped the exhaust holes in the carb pad so they can be plugged as well as radius the plenum like the newer Chevy Q jet manifolds.

    Use a 10cc syringe with water to check valve relief CC's. will be about 6 to 8 will 4 reliefs. Chevy used a .125 dome piston to get 11:1 with 64cc heads.

    Duplicolor paint isn't as bad as Rustoleum for lifting the 1st coat while applying the second.

    I had 1.94 valves put into 305 heads and blended the bowls to match the .030 over bores. Those small chamber heads should raise compression. Edlebrock carbs usta be Carter AFB.

    thanks for the offer but im not that desperate for a 327 i found a classic yard that looks like a sub division so after the snow is gone ill check it out. FYI in my early 20's i worked for a real odd ball company where i built massive ornamental structures that had hands on function any way we were doing a job where we were tapping inside a deep tight space. bad hole = a loss of 10,000 so i got really good at using a 3 flue and 4 flue tap extractor also get your self some rapid tap oil for next time

    are you planning on using a points distrbuter and coil ? i want to do the same for my 83 c10 , let me know how you wire it up. for what it is worth i ran 350 truck heads on a 305 right now, im not impressed at all , i also have run the 305 heads on the 350 and it was really under powered for hauling stuff , then again both sets heads were the 194 intake and 150 exhaust, i came across some 71 z28 heads casting 336 that im fixing to run on a new style 350 block with 1 pc rear seal , i remember the day on my z28 and they were pretty good heads . love the scripture at ends of your video bro

    Howdy! Dunno where you're located, I'm late to the party so to speak. You already got your heads done now. Shame I didn't see you months ago, I got a bunch of camel back heads, REAL ones! lol But shipping now is SO killer, probably would have not been practical. Still like to compliment you on your work just the same. You're being quite meticulous, doing a fine job!

      Hey, better late then never. Glad to have you. I was really hoping to find some old camel humps but in a way I'm glad how it worked out for the ease of my accessory installation.

    What year did Chevy change from the Squair bore intake to the Spreader bore!
    I know my 1959 Chevy bel-air had a Square 4 barrel Carb

    My all-original '69 307 Camaro doesn't have an oil spout on the intake.

    Question, don’t know if you can help me maybe you can. So I was looking at delete the oil filler tube that’s on the 327 manifold since I have aftermarket valve covers that have the oil filler caps on them is there some kind of plug that I could put in the manifold where the oil filler tube would be

    • @TheJayhawker
      @TheJayhawker  11 месяцев назад

      Not sure, the oil spout comes out easily enough. Just measure the hole and perhaps you can find a block freeze plug to fit. Just about any guy that has ever worked on old chevy small blocks probably has 70's-80's intake manifolds laying around that they have replaced. I know I do. It might be just as easy to put one of those on.
