I have a non-compatible theme website so I guess LearnDash would integrate but look ugly. We don't want to change our main website theme so do we need to create a whole new separate website just for our courses using the Astra theme? This seems like a lot of work. ...Or is there a WP Membership or LMS plugin that would do the job of hosting our paid for courses *and* be visually customisable within our existing website? Thanks in advance :-)

Hey so glad to hear that John, I hope it helps you decide which direction that you wanted to go in for a learning management system. I do know they're working diligently on version 3 of LearnDash but I don't really have any information other than that. It's just good to know that it's actively being developed and improved.

When i needed a LMS i checked your video of LifterLMS, did not feel right to me, then i try LearnDash, and this LMS is really nice and inspire more trust for me than Lifter LMS.
I'm glad that you will make some videos on it, even if i'm use to it right now i may learn one thing or 2 ;)

Hi Adam, it is really a great video. I just purchased Learndash, and within a couple of days I had to give it up and ask for a refund. Then I tried several LMS platforms. All rabbis, I am totally convinced that LearnDash is the best. Guess what I am going to get it back. My question for you is: can you create in learnDash a grid format with a grid. Meaning if you have few courses in a grid format, can you create an other grid format for different phases of a given course?

Yes sadly of the tools that you are using were kind of what people used five or six years ago, there are much better tools today. It's actually very sad what happened optimize press that they didn't continue developing it and it stuck in 2013.

I haven't used lifterLMS but am quite happy with LearnDash, especially since they launched the new builder. I was amazed to see how well Astra theme is ready for LD as well, wow! But it's fair to say that with Generate Press + Learn Dash + Visual Customizer (premium LD plugin) you can give it a personal and professional touch as well.
Yes I am going to be making a video specifically on themes for LearnDash and will talk about Visual Customizer as an option.

I wish I would have seen this video earlier. I already built a site with Lifter and I think their add-ons are expensive compared to LearnDash. Adams videos and tutorials are awesome. I suggest anyone thinking about building a website to do so with Adam's tutorials. I have another learning site to build so the second site I am doing it on LearnDash instead of Lifter.

Hi, I'm glad to see you respond to questions. I am thankful for your so comprehensive video as I am trying to determine if this is the right software for my client. So far it looks possible, but they want to offer a 'premium' price for their course (program) and a basic price. Looks like only one price is possible and also no coupons? Is that right? So will I need to add Woocommerce or what will offer pricing tiers? Thanks in advance.
Adam, I'm in need of a system that will allow me to have traditional portfolios, so that a student does work on a lesson blog or page and when the results are submitted they go to a portfolio controlled by the instructor. There, the instructor can view the work and give feedback. For example, after reading an article, the student writes a summary. The upon submit, the summary is sent to a portfolio where I can read it and give feedback. In addition, the portfolio serves as an archive where the student can go back and review how their writing has changed over time. Thanks
That is called manual grading it. I believe it's in LifterLMS but I'm. not 100% sure if LearnDash has it. I would contact LearnDash and asked them if they have manual grading.
Hi Adam, always great videos! Video Progression - will this feature prevent students from fast forwarding thru the class? My licensing course requires they watch the entire video.

I was holding off waiting for LearnDash version 3 to be released. It was pushed back because of Gutenberg. It should come out in the next month or so and I should get early access to it.

After researching other LMS platforms, I concluded that Edredo is a perfect platform that is completely FREE, has all the features like other platforms, and has some additional advanced filters. Overall, a free and new place to learn and connect with a new group of teachers and students across the world.

LifterLMS is fantastic and it is the LMS plugin that I am using. Don't let the fact that I am also reviewing other LMS plugins discourage you at all. In fact, in this video I specifically compare LifterLMS to LearnDash and find them equal.

Adam when you have several courses on your site via Learn Dash, doesn't it slow down your site?
Hi Adam, greetings from Scotland. I've been following your videos for a couple of years now and must admit they have been absolutely invaluable. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask a question but if anyone can help, i'm sure it's you. I am looking to sell employee training courses to businesses but would like some way for managers to log in and see how his/her staff are progressing. I'm guessing some kind of business membership with employees as the members. Can LearnDash do this or is there something else I should look at?
Are gonna set up a new site with content only logged in users can see. Should I choose lifterLMS or LearnDash? (which one had a big update coming?)
What concerns are there about hosting videos on my own LMS site as opposed to using Teachable, Udemy, etc.? Will the price of the hosting increase with the volume of videos?

Adam, I was hoping that you were going to include MasterStudy Pro in your comparisons. I was narrowing my choice down to it and LearnDash. Can you elaborate on why you chose Lifter over MasterStudy?
Hi there Adam. Thank you once again for such a kickass walkthru. Never knew that Learndash was so good and easy to set up until I saw your walkthru. It's also very affordable. Secondly, I didn't know that Learndash integrates well with Astra. That was like an "aha" moment for me right there.
Lastly, I would like to recommend you don't do social learner walk thru. That's because I feel your time is better used on topics that push WordPress forward. Social Learner is stuck on Visual Composer and stuck with theme forest styles of themes. Most of your customers aren't that. Just my two cents if its worth anything.

I will be going over all the LMS plugins and have tutorials on all of them as well. I would say that LearnDash and LifterLMS are both great for different people. And the competition is REALLY good for both parties.

Could you also please focus on the ability to control the front-end language and RTL settings? For example, if I want to install WP and LearnDash in English but all my content, courses and lessons will be in Hebrew, Do you have the option to change the labeling on everything on the front-end?

Adam, with the plug ins you mentioned, can you give the option for memberships to have access to all courses but also allow non members to pay for courses a la carte?
Just subscribed as this was great for someone looking at an LMS for wordpress. Question for you. Do you feel this could slow down a website at all. I was planning on running it on my main website, that is not primarily an education website, but I need to offer LMS functionality for clients. I'm paranoid about speed lately as google are now penalising websites for slow page loads and sluggishness. I would never have more that one or two users accessing the LMS at any given time.
Which one should I be using LifterLMS or Learn Dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would recommend LearnDash over Lifter LMS.
Lifter "basic" version is very lightweight but you then have to buy all the useful components in order to really make it functional. This is just one important consideration and not a reflection of the quality.

You can use the direct link to the video stored on S3.
Which video host would you choose to decrease the likelyhood of someone copying the video?
Coding in Flow The big solution for that is wistia but I say big because is not free and it doesn’t mean is fail proof. There are ways to download the video it just makes it harder. Even if someone came up with a solution people can still use a screen capture software to steal your videos so yo beyond that train of thought and mention your brand a lot and your website on your videos so people know it is your creative just my 2 cents
Great job Adam as always. Any update on when the LearnDash tutorial is going to go live?
As you know I’m a big LifterLMS fan, but I’m not sure it will work for our needs since Lifter isn’t multisite compatible. Our program is white label and we have around 600 coaches all with their own brands and their own domains.
Plus with LifterLMS, while it is free to start, if you want Stripe or other feature you get with LearnDash included LifterLMS can get pricy quick.
Any thoughts or advice is always appreciated of course.

Thanks for this review, I am planning on using learndash to manage my online course and before reviewing this video I was originally intending to install it as a plugin on my existing site. From this review ii appears I would be better off installing it on the Astra theme and i assume having a separate domian name? Is the primary reason for doing it this way for the visual aesthetic of the course site? In other words, if go the route of installing it on my existing site then would I end up with the basic learndash styling - is that correct?
I have all the content and am presntly training students but I have not been using an LMS, so I need to move everything to Learndash ASAP. What is your suggestion - Plugin into my existing site or register a new domain then use Astra theme and plugin learndash there?

However, I still need to decide on a page builder and I'm going to choose either Beaver Builder or Elementor. I already have the Astra theme. Could you share which page builder works better with LearnDash? Also, do you know which page builder works best with Pods and if Elementor offers the same functionality as Beaver Themer (especially the linking part which you explained in a Beaver Themer review on combination with custom fields and post types)? Does Learn dash enable a member to save a video/class to another area for quick reference, instead of having to go through the website to find that content again.

Hello Adam, great video! I am curious if you know of a LMS or plugin that will allow members to custom organize the content provided in a members area and also add their own supplemental content to their members area? Or if this is something that would need to be built through a developer?
Thanks Adam. It looks like we will be missing just the ability to use voucher and also doing course bundling. Is there a work around that you can show us through some of the add-ons in learndash?
I like the learndash option because for $189 I get all the payment gates and I can use for 10 sites whereas I will need to buy a single PayPal gateway for $99 when using lifter Lms and can only use that for one site.
If you can show us how to incorporate the voucher element as well as course bundling into learndash that will really help
Yes you can do all of that with LearnDash if you use it with a shopping cart like WooCommerce. You just need to use it with a shopping cart if you want to be able to do those things.
Hey Adam - going to go with LearnDash based on this overview - when I do the incognito link thing should I see an affiliate reference on the url? I don't see one and want to be sure you're getting your due :-)

Adam I think Astra now only provides the site imports (eg the Coach one you mention) if you have the Agency version - or am I missing something?
If you are using Elementor, the Coach one is there for free. If you are using Beaver Builder, I am not sure.
If you use neither, none of the import sites are included unless you have Astra Agency, with BB a couple seem to be available and as you say with Elementor more are available including that one, but not all.

Thinkific is the same thing? Only they do the hosting instead of Wordpress I am really confused now because I have loaded some content to Thinkific. How does LernDash play with Elementor and Wordpress? and Astra? You guys are why I have them all now SMH Totally confused Thinkific is free

Is there a feature where a type of course will be determined based on a questionnaire students full up (students will have to go through a questionnaire to determine their level and a course will be selected automatically based on the questionnaire results) ? Hi, Adam i have a quick question. When someone registers on your site and does not pay the subscription fee. The user profile is created in the WordPress user profile. This eventually blocks the username, is there a way to only add users after a payment is completed ?

All the options are also available in the customizer, and were at the time of this video recording! Also there is no dependency on Visual Composer you can use any page builder you want with it.
Come on Michael. All the options are not in the customizer, they were not then and they are not today, even with the new product. Please don't get defensive, Social Learner was unique in what it did, bravo. But it came with baggage, all tradeoffs one must accept. Why not instead comment that "I see your points in the video and that's why Social Learner has been rebuilt from the ground up".

I see all LMS provider giving package ltd to 50, 100, 1000 active users and at expensive rate.
All the plug-ins I talked about on my website have unlimited users. All the software as a service providers have limitations because they want to get more money out of you.

That plugin was made by Brainstorm Force and they made the same thing for LearnDash. I don't have a comparison video, but I do have a written comparison on my website. That being said, I think the features coming in LearnDash v3, which is due in a few months will set it way ahead of the pack.
