According to the oral history that I knew, Hmong does not have last name. We used to call our first names in addition to our fathers and or grandfather. Just to ID who this person is. When someone is married to his/her spouse of the same last name; in my opinion it is OK. Now-a-day, technology is available so I just wanted the couple to do blood test first, just for the sake of their gene to be healthy in the generation to come.

Yes, the tradition has been practicing for centuries; however, did you really know about our Hmong last names! As my last name is named after a bear. What about other last names. According to the oral history that I knew, Hmong does not have last name. We used to call our first names in addition to our fathers and or grandfather. Just to ID who this person is. When someone is married to his/her spouse of the same last name; in my opinion it is OK. Now-a-day, technology is available so I just wanted the couple to do blood test first, just for the sake of their gene to be healthy in the generation to come.
So if the girl is a Lee and her mom remarried a Yang it's still okay. Because her blood line is not a Yang.
