- Here's a short bit of bag work on a what is actually a fairly heavy uppercut bag, which (hopefully) gives you a "feedback" comparison between my new Geezers Halo gloves and my old stand-by Fairtex BGV9s. The Geezers are breaking in nicely--really starting to dig them. They are a bit more of a "thudding glove" but I'm loving the feel and fit, and I wouldn't' say you can't get any crack on a bag.
No introduction, but first I'm using the Geezers and then I do a bit of work with the BGV9s. Both are GREAT gloves for the money.
By the way, that's a Master's uppercut bag, and although they don't get much love, I'm not complaining.
BTW, yes, it's an iphone vid, but I'm rather strapped for time lately. Life, work, reality.
Hope you dig it.
More coming soon...
Thanks for the video. A friend of mine just ordered some Geezers.
Cool. I'm quite happy with mine. They've broken in and feel great on my hands. Part of me still leans toward Mexican-style gloves, but I do dig Geezers.
Love your vids bro... Don't know how I started watching punching bag videos but I'm really likin' it. 66 years old here but want to start messin" around and burn some carbs and get
in better shape.. Ordered a double end bag just tonight and got some great ideas on gloves from your videos. Thanks bro!!! SUBBED! lol
OH, Which bag is that your beatin" the hell out of? lol
Never too late to start (well, even I have cut back to almost no sparring--as we get older, things fragile), but otherwise, go for it. I will start putting up vids sooner again, I hope. I moved and have a great place to work out, but they said they have too many freelance trainers in that gym so I can't do anything there. (It's more of a new guy hitting gym politics, but ok).
Ah--that's a Master's fairly heavy uppercut bag. You can find that in Europe. I'm not a fan of Master's gloves, but their bags (including speed bag) really last. Look for something that is NOT concrete feeling. You don't want soft either, but something like medium or maybe slightly more than medium, especially for an uppercut bag like that. If it's hard and heavy, you will hurt your hands doing uppercuts, as the bottom of it will just get harder with age. If it's too soft you can sink too deep and sprain your wrists. I'm not a big fan of water bags, as they are unwieldy, crazy heavy and they seem inconsistent from day-to-day to me. Hope that helps a bit.
