As a new follower of his work, his cinematography and personality really keep me riveted. It has the vibes of a how-to video with the excitement of a big catch fishing channel. His knowledgeable narration and positivity set him apart as well.
I love that you show not only the adventures, but also the life of the adventurer. It’s the payoff from videos like these where you see the work and thought that goes into the tools that make the adventures feel even that more special. Thanks for sharing these glimpses with us, Rod!
Thats my favorite part too. His videos are in stark contrast to many other fishing youtubers. Rods videos are more personal, more intimate. I feel like I appreciate the ocean and nature more through his channel and I dont get that same feeling from others! They're also very laid back, I could fall asleep watching one, and thats not a bad thing lol its like fishing ASMR 😅
Perfect setup! You should think about breaking out the ol’ sewing machine and make a boat tent. Looks like you could use shock corded poles, use the rod holders like you did the antenna.
Well nearly there mate a magic set up from your previous Boat. All you need to do now is adjust to it all and there’s a lot ,catch the fish mate . Cheers Wombat 🐾👍👍
Spot lock is such a game changer. Also being able to control your boat while on shore is so handy when you're launching alone. Love the content as always dude 🤙
Your going to love your Terrova. Its a game changer. 6 years hard fishing mine still running strong. You will wonder how you fished before. One thing to watch is fishing in current with spot lock. If you fall out of boat, it will stay and you are gone….wear remote always on neck in sketchy situations.
The electronic compass must be located in an open area. it doesn"t need to be hidden under the metal. The trolling motor is very handy! Congrats on your purchase, good luck!
Yer so humble and chill, glad to see you getting all the new toys and I hope the investment in your channel really pays off for you man. Thanks for the videos! Btw the shots following you out into the swell and back through the channel were fantastic
Great to see the mods mate! I fitted one of the plastic foils to my Mercruiser. What a difference that made! Trimming the motor actually worked. Great addition.
Great boat and set up mate. I'd drop that Minn Kota down max in the open water because with the bobbing up and down you'll find the prop will come in and out of the water, not that it would do any harm just get annoying with the noise it makes. Great days ahead for you.
Your boat upgrade knowledge is impressive. So many little skills and knowings needed to have the boats do what you want. Thanks for showing us the process. I’m learning as the vids come. I appreciate it bro
loving the new project! hey those rollers that you got as a chock for your outboard is a great idea! I think the colours denote hardness ie black softest, red medium and blue hardest. Youlle see them on different boat trailers, red glass boat, blue Ali boat.
i love your new boat Rod! all the upgrades have made it really come together. so glad we get to see what you can get up to now that youve got something youre happier with!
Good stuff. Got my boat fully specced because I know I'm a muppet when it comes to these things. Had enough of a sweat on just mounting an extra rod holder!
A spot locking trolling motor is the best thing I ever bought for my flats boat. Especially for fishing current near bridges. You can fish ripping currents alone and not have to worry about your position.
It's refreshing to see a good down to earth soul having they're dreams come to fruition, congrats to you and the family and best of wishes on all the awesome memories you guys are going to make.!!!
If u don’t have the heart to drill through the gunwales, Other then the spot log jog feature the trolling miter heading sensor isn’t required for any other trolling motor function. U will still be able to do regular spot lock without the heading sensor installed.
Beautiful boat rod, getting flash backs to when I first subbed at 7k, time flies brother Well deserved all of it. Stay blessed ✌️ The algorithm was being a a hole for sol long to in the beginning, so glad you persevered and continued to pump out the quality that you have
You can switch that inline antenna cable connector to a 90° connector which will give you more clearance. I have never been a fan of those bolt on hydrofoils. If lower units operated better/more efficiently with them, I believe manufacturers would make them part of the design. That Minn Kota with spot lock looks amazing. Better than dealing with a traditional anchor and guessing at the drift regarding wind and current and paying out and retrieving line 👍🏼
Cant believe how stout that boat seems for just being 14 foot. Its makes the lake erie walleye boats by me look like toys! Between you and Bamman i think my first boat needs to be tiller drive. Thank you for the videos they are always great.
I actually just got in a Minn Kota C2-30 electric motor for my self-driving inflatable raft project. 1.2kw LFP battery, autonomy achieved via Ardupilot!
Get an old candle block type and dip the grinder blade into the candle every now and then ,helps cut Aluminium easy and saves the blade as well, good luck ,I’m jealous about the trolling motor especially if it has spot lock Cheers
I couldn't tell, but maybe think about strapping down that front lifepo4 battery. A simple nylon battery strap that uses velcro works great. What an awesome boat. Nice work on the upgrades.
Have you thought about using nutserts Rod? Would make installation and removal a lot quicker, if anything ever needed to come off for maintenance or inspection. Love the look of the Stabicraft 👌
Awesome video great to see your dream boat come together Only suggestion I have is use some tef gel or duralac on all your bolts and screws , it helps minimize the risk of any corrosion between the two different types of metals
just a little tip ive learned, put the main bolt through the top whenever you can so that way the bolt isnt fighting gravity and vibrations, if the nut falls off the bottom atleast the bolt will still have a chance of holding on. cheers.
Love the boat mate but get some tefgel on those screws and bolts if you haven't already, stainless to ally will cause corrosion unless they have a compound separating them.
Good to see you have a 20 dollar grinder too mate. I've got one as well and a 600 dollar cordless 5 inch. But I couldn't justify spending big dollars on a little one that I'll hardly ever use
I didn't notice a transom saver, if you don't have one I suggest looking into buying one. They're a life saver while you're heading down the road. Great build though, that boat is a beast!
Spot lock is a game changer for sure. One of the best features is once you have save a location is use the GOTO option to take you back to the exact location again. Easier than using fish finder gps marks
Great video, Rod! I enjoyed and appreciated you showing off your excellent MacGyver skills that you applied to your DIY live-well, outboard tilt post support and marine VHF radio installation. Just a couple of suggestions, you may want to reinforce your sonar hood holes with stainless steel washers (both sides, glue gun installation possible) to prevent it from getting tears from the wind when at WOT and also if you can find a see-through or lighter-colored bin, it would be helpful to see your bait while at sea w/o having to peek over the top. I also bought a foil a couple of years ago for my Yamaha outboard that is gathering dust...perhaps I may install it soon after watching you do yours. Another thing I noticed is I'm wondering if you painted or applied anti-rust coating to the drill holes before mounting the foil to avoid corrosion. You also mentioned that you plan to upgrade your bilge pump so I strongly recommend that you think about using an automatic float switch as I also upgraded and rewired my bilge pump when I got my 18ft center console about 10 years ago. Based on my experience, the automatic float switch has proven to be a critical feature that has saved my boat on at least two occasions in the past. 😄😮💨Tight lines!
Hey mate. Check out Steve’s custom welding for a stainless casting bar like Matt Watsons. Great improvement for anchor handling and casting. Also provides a handhold for a passenger while travelling extra body weight forward to help with low speed planing. Next mod for me will be some tie down points to secure fuel tank etc.
Nice one mate, cheers as I am fitting my own Minn Kota, VHF, Raynarine Element 12 HV, and wiring the entire boat (Frontier Profish) myself with twin battery VSR set up. A bit daunting but should be good....I hope 😀. Love to see you do a video on what improvements in performance you got from the hydrofoil as was considering one also. Lastly have you considered a bimini at all, as I am considering a Kingfisher Eclipse Aussie made, rated to 60kph and strapless so doesn't really impact fishing that much. Check em out. Love your work👍🤙
i used this pump for my Air conditioning overflow tray.. had to mod the foam float switch thicker to engage w lower water level. (SEAFLO 11-Series 0.08 HP Submersible 12-Volt Automatic Bilge Pump)
You need to do some river and creek fishing sometime now that you have the trolling motor setup. I think the last time I saw you catch a flatty in a river was a couple of years ago on an island trip!
Your going to get a pretty good arc going when you try and get that battery in and out. The moment those terminals touch that bare aluminium your going to get a hole blasted through the casting deck.
Looking very sporty, wish you would have done the hydroplane first and run it to get a baseline performance before the motor and battery went on the front end. cheers
Yea true I did think that with the extra weight up front, its only around 35kg for both motor and battery. So not too much extra weight. Now that I have done a bit of running around, shifting things and people around to the front etc i had a decent feel for how the boat behaves before the mods. I can say that the extra force you can feel from the hydrofoil is very noticeable, you trim it where you want it now where as before it was just a loose approximate push up or down if that makes sense. Also managed to get it to sit flat around that 14-17km range which is what I want my lures to run at which was cool, I struggled before to do that with out either jumping up on the plan and taking off to fast or boring down at the back. Will do more testing on some flatter water soon and keep updating on it, can also take off the trolling motor if needed... unfortunately it was all a bit choppy to get a feel for some if it on the day👍
@@rokkitkit For sure, I thought later that the motor and battery were going there anyway so it didn't really change the outcome. Would have given a truer test of the planer. cheers
Great additions Rod, sorry mate but Penn, can you please send Rod some new hats? 😀 It's the fisherman who makes the hat, not the other way round Rod. It's time Rod, it's time.
Just my opinion, but the authenticity of what captured my intrest in your older simple solo camping adventures is quickly dwindling with all the tech. Oh well good luck with all this new stuff and direction you are taking.
Hey Rod should check out first light fabrications up at Caloundra they have some cool 3D printed accessory holders would go perfect in your tinny. 🤙 loving the boat mod vids
It funny how as rokkit has gone from 10k to 450k subs his videos haven’t changed styles and that’s why everyone still loves watching his videos
So true 💯
As a new follower of his work, his cinematography and personality really keep me riveted. It has the vibes of a how-to video with the excitement of a big catch fishing channel. His knowledgeable narration and positivity set him apart as well.

I found this channel because of the tent on his boat. Good call.
@@shurppa64 yep! That boat is made for a tent! He did a great job!
What a HUGE departure from those rafts you are so fond of. Beautiful rig!
That boat is so sick. It’s been fun watching you upgrade and dial it in. Looking forward to seeing what you do and where you go with it in the future.
I could watch that follow cam shot all day. It looks surreal.
cant say ive ever been interested in owning a boat but man do i love watching you work on and improve yours. shes a beauty!
Well nearly there mate a magic set up from your previous Boat. All you need to do now is adjust to it all and there’s a lot ,catch the fish mate .

Awesome view mate, that camera angel (Starts 19.40) WOW
You are gonna love that’s spot lock! Great video Rod! Nice boat braddah!
That trolling motor is dead sexy. New adventures await and I can't wait!
Great to see the mods mate! I fitted one of the plastic foils to my Mercruiser. What a difference that made! Trimming the motor actually worked. Great addition.
yea the trim plate is great, like you said it sets the trim where I want it👌

Yea the red rollers are made out of the same material as the proper support I had but do seem a little softer. The blue rollers were almost rock hard👍
i love your new boat Rod! all the upgrades have made it really come together. so glad we get to see what you can get up to now that youve got something youre happier with!

Thanks for watching over the years mate🤙
Oh and I LOVED that cool angle when you came out of the harbor! Almost makes it feel like we are there
That's some tasty goodies there! Your setup just keeps getting better. Love the content!
Oh, those rubber raft trips and look at this, proud of you Rod, well done.
That boat looks amazing... Happy for you Rod.... Have fun and looking forward to your trip vids...!

Minn kota is a game changer, you'll never want to fish in a boat without one ever again xD
Quick Tip :- Replace the live well pump with a Rule brand one. They are very quiet and last a lot longer.
This seems a bit safer than the inflatables! You made some really incredible crossings in those tiny inflatables though!
What you do is just awesome! All the time mate :) onward! 👍

Good looking rig and well though out.
Great stuff Coral trout wow delicious 😋
That is looking so good, envy totally, 👍

Perfect timing. Friday night with Rokkit. Love these installation vids. Hi from UK. 🤙
