  • I'm a big fan of the Classic Type R look.
White on White is what I think helps the Type R stand out.
I found these Awesome Wheels from MITA MotorSports and they finished them in Championship White to match the car.
    The Match is perfect.
The wheels are FKL by ‪@mitamotorsports‬

    Coupon code LHTPerformace10
The red lip and Red in the Logo also match the red caliper.
The finish is amazing, they're forged and weight only 21.5 lbs.
    The size is 18 x 9.5 with a 45 offset.
The packing is still the best Ive even seen from a wheel company, The lugs are nice quality and also look the parts.
I’m super happy with the wheels. Now, should it be lowered ?

John, since your intent is to enjoy track time with the FL5, then I would not lower it a lot, but a 1" drop for lowering the center of gravity would be ideal ... however, the stock Type R adjustable shocks are really great for track use--maybe just quality lowering springs with a very modest lowering. The stock ride height gives you enough play for hard cornering/S turns. My advice: Track it without lowering it first to feel the control/rebound in/out of corners before lowering.

Good on you man. White wheels are truly for the brave and I hope you like washing them- LOL I like the white on white you got going on but to be honest I just don't like the red-line style wheels. Offset in +40/+38 would have looked really nice. Nice throwback mod theme going on. Cheers

John, for the new Civic Type R FL5, did it fall in the same category of NTHSB/Recall for the lift pump (in-tank fuel pump) impeller issue? I just accomplished the recall myself with a DW300C (on 10th gen Accord Sport 2.0T), since Honda is on long-term backorder for OEM fuel pump ... even though DW's photo instructions were great, would be a stellar/viral video showing proper replacement in 10th and 11th gen Civic/Accord. Beautiful set of wheels, they really pop with the brake callipers 👍. Glad you got them ceramic coated, white wheels can be prone to being dirt magnets. I quite like the design of the OEM wheels, its just a shame Honda don't offer a white option to go with the CW paint.

So this look with the smaller wheels, makes the car look like a normal civic and here is one the issues I have with the FL5, the bigger rim looks better but not so functional. A sports car of this caliber and cost shouldn't have to be reduced to something smaller to make it work...its not like im saying it needs to be on twenties with zero capabilities. But a proper sports car should be able to ride with the rim it was supposed to be designed for.

John, great great job on the car!! Exactly how it should’ve come from the factory!! Nice choice on the well spec; all of it, that a good 7.5lbs savings per (if I caught that right), and with the 45 offset it sits closer to fender, just right IMO. I don’t intend on lowering mine, even though it may not see the track. Slightly lowered does look great though. Only thing I changed was the exhaust. I went with a Milltek valved non res with3 equal black tips. Perfect combo of looks and sound. Also, the modular design makes it easy to swap in a resonator in case I want to make it quieter (but I don’t think so!).

New alloys look fantastic. If you lower the car, I personally would go the manufacturer way, means, they lower always about 10mm. Will look a bit better, have better grip and stiffness but you won't scrape the ground.

I mean, look, they are nice wheels but......... why would you spend another $5K or whatever for some rims that are pretty much exactly the same as the ones that came stock on your car? I mean, aren't the stock rims on those Type R's like BBS forged wheels anyhow?? I guess when you're ballin' outta control paying an additional $5K to have matching colored wheels doesn't mean much to you, but for regular folks...... it's a lot of money.

Downsizing to 18” from the stock 19’s is common on these cars, as well as from the stock 20’s on the FK8 along with wider rubber. Gets more meat under the fenders, plus the rotational mass reduction.
