I'm from Indiana. I got to visit Sheffield back in 2008. We stayed at a rental above a bar. I loved hanging out with the locals. I felt right at home there. I hope all the people are still cool, and I'd love to go back there some day.
@@omns-world Not sure. Can't remember name. it was in the downtown area. About 3-4 doors down, there was a sign that had like, Porky the Pig face on it, and it said "Pork Sandwiches". It was a staircase to the 2nd level of the building, with a door that had a slide slot. It was not a restaurant. It was "ladies of the night". The guys told me that, that night. They were laughing at me. Like, "You wanna go down there?, we can get ya a girl." Me: "No no no no, better not."
I'm so glad i spent my youth in the 1980s. Sheffield nightlife back then was great. It's changed so much. I'd rather sit at home with a drink then go down town. Not missing much. Lived the best times which are sadly gone. Wouldn't want to be young again, not today. It's shit. Sheffield as changed. I can remember pubs were packed out every Friday and Saturday night. Music was loads better and times weren't dangerous like it is today. Carefree and chilled out back then
rachelbailey-no2pp Great post that and you're spot on. I started hitting the Sheffield night scene in the early to mid 70's. Baileys and scamps were 2 of my favourite clubs, then later Josephine's. It breaks my heart now to see what Sheffield has become. Don't go in at night now. A Sheffield 6'er who misses the ' old day's '.
Bang on mate, great night life and all the clubs, Romeo & Juliets,Josephine's, Max a millions ,later became Stringfellas, Roxies & who can forget grab a granny 😂 gasha bar, mucky duck, ta name few. I'm 61 now and yeah definitely the good old days
Disagree, there slightly, there were many fights that broke out in Sheffield's 1980s nightclubs, people not capable of handling their drinks and wanting to fight with anyone regardless.
Good vid, but you missed some of the best areas. West street is mint though, but definitely should have done more around Yates, Turtle Bay, The Pitch and Piano, The Benjamin Huntsman then further down around All Bar One and into Leopold Square, then up to Slug and Lettuce and Bronco’s. Had many many great nights out there and forget the comments about it’s not how it used to be. It is, but we’re just missing the super clubs like Crasher! Even Kingdom with mint back in the day! Crasher revival was awesome there a couple of years back! Shame Embrace as it became, is now closed 😢 Still an awesome night out to be had in Sheff though! Just have to know where to go, depending on what you want.
'Good to see that ,.. thanks,. Fings' have changed a bit since I did town, and at 7:17 'Walkabout'... formerly Carver street Methodist church,. my school leaving service - 1960.
I lived in sheffield from year 2000 until 2010. Great memories. Me and my mates used to go to kingdom nightclub, corporation , club wow in centertainment and Gatecrasher. Am not sure if those places are still open. Great memories from my 20s... Thank you for this video. Time goes fast....
Wow , how sheff city centre has gone down the pan . What a picture this paints of a once thriving nightlife ! Whatever happened to the dress code , it seems you have to dress down for a night out now , or am I just getting old ?
Nonsense, lived there twenty years, nightlife was, and still is great in Sheffield, and getting better with additions like Roxy Ballroom The Furnace. What dress code, you snobby git?! People wear what they like, and what they feel comfortable in. Which they have one for generations now, therefore I wouldn't say you're getting old, but small minded and supercilious.
I'm in my mid 40s now, but even back in the day if I had to queue to get into a place, I would say b***s to that, that's valuable drinkie time going outta the window! I might be biased because of the badge on my RUclips account but what Sheffield needs is a great, regular Northern Soul club! 🤭😉👍
@@katstephenson8493 Just took a look at their website, it seems they have a Saturday afternoon Northern Soul session. Sunday's rare soul. Friday's not NS, but music from the 60s to 00s apparently.
Mm... I am surprised that people doesn't dress nicely.... and it is way way way WAY too casual. Even when we used to go clubbing, people at the very least wore a decent shirt. It's how come the polo shirts, or the whole "smart casual" thing kicked off.... Either a Ralph Lauren, or at least a polo..... and ladies would wear a dress... and heels. WHAT IS THIS ?!?!!...... We also used to get an actual bouncer that would turn people away too at the door, if you fail the dress code. Sorry.. but....
Thank you. This video reminds me Sheffield in 1999. I'm happy it hasn't changed.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great to see these young people enjoying themselves. God knows these times pass quickly and life is just grind and hard work.
Keep grinding mate , all blades aren't wey. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 👍
Are you braindead

Nah you're right
Yeah you’re getting old
It's been rammed every time I'm round there at peak times
I hated that bullshit of having to dress smartly with black shoes etc, circa late 90's early 00's.
Got in himmel!
