I just don't want the whole taking over the body thing , it takes away from Aangs achievements . People already think every time aang uses the AS, it's someone else doing it .
I love the direction that they have done to embodied core traits of each character in their core. It gives nice feel but I wish a few scenes were more flesh out more and I miss the misery element. Overall, I love it and I am proud of the series.
Can we not see the tattoos lighting up on the head and the limbs on the fight on kyoshi island? This is Aang in green Kyoshi attire, you can't tell me it's not.
Here's the thing. First of all, Netflix can't copy exactly to the original show. Second, we do see Avatar Kioshi twice in Avatar the Last Airbender. Third, I think it will be great to see a little more of her. I mean, if you think about it, Aang has a little similar personality to Kioshi. At least in my opinion. Fourth, let's just say that perhaps we are going to see more backstory of her in the new series!!!!! I feel like there could have been more said in the series but, they did what they thought best!
Agreed. We get a brief scene of her explaining and showing why she killed Chang. This scene isn't a flashback, but I can see kyoshi going through her trial and admitting she was guilty like in the show. Then the raiders come, like in the show, but instead of transforming back to aang, they have kyoshi finish the fight since she's already there on trial to do "her services to the public" instead of getting boiled in oil or whatever l
I sincerely hope that Kyoshi isn't seen before Roku. The rules of the Avatar is that the Avatar needs to establish a connection with the Avatar immediately before them before they can speak to the previous avatars it's why Kyoshi struggled to speak with Yanchen because she kept trying to skip over Kuruk. They can't do Roku dirty like that by skipping over him
I think a lot of fans actually noticed that that was not Aang. I assumed the same that it was probably kyoshi taking over to replace the unagi story. But I had not thought about Kuruk also doing it that would be a huge change but maybe an interesting one. As much as a want giant koi fish spirit that would be hard to do right.
I think it's cool to see some of the scenes we couldn't see in the anime... We don't actually expect them to do exactly what is the anime, they need to add somethings. Fingers crossed though

I don't think this is how we will see Avatar Kuruk in the series, I don't think we will see him replace Aang in battle but it will go like in the regular series only that at the point where zhao explains his plan to kill the moon Spirit instead of seeing him reading the scroll while he talks in the background we will see a flashback of Avatar Kuruk and see how he killed the ghosts and then go back to general zhao at the end
Maybe they spice up the Avatar State instead of just glowiy power all the time, he can tap into past avatars more specifically (as said, like Roku did on the island) and it gives visuals of that avatar as he uses their experience. Lets them add visual interest without major changes in really how the AS works... It's always been him tapping into past avatar power, this is just being a little specific with it.
*Korra spoilers about the true nature of the avatar state* He taps into them but he's also tapping into the light spirit Rava who is bonded to the avatar and is the reason they can bend all the elements. When their eyes and his tattoos glow is Rava's light shining through. It's why the avatar is most powerful in this state. It's possible to enter the avatar state with 0 past lives.
I'm a little worried if this is their plan. While it is cool to see the past Avatars take over Aang's body and fight. If it happens constantly it'll kind of make Aang feel like a pointless character. Just any time Aang goes into Avatar State a legacy Avatar does all the fighting. It'll also make the Avatar State even more OP and make the S2 premiere where they have to convince the audience that Avatar State Aang shouldn't just go attack Firelord right now even harder to get across.
@@rayanvij3457 I agree. While it might be a little cartoony to do the giant ocean spirit. I still hope they do something tied to the ocean spirit not a past Avatar. There was something awesome about seeing the Ocean spirit ready to avenge the death of the moon spirit.
@@rayanvij3457 it shouldn't be an issue they've got the budget of Stranger Things and the VFX team from GoT so they should be able to make a big monster. I do think they'll skip some of the ones less needed for the story. Might not see the Unagi or Koi fish in Kyoshi episodes but we should see dragons in the Air Nation genocide.
Maybe not every time he goes Avatar State but…when something strikes a cord with the past avatars. Roku Solstice 2 valid. Kyoshi going beast mode for her home valid. Anything else regarding Avatar State for Aangs emotions and trauma should be solely him alone.
I would totally be okay using past avatars to show the potential, in visions, the kyoshi court case things like that Using the Avatar state as a crux to solvfe all of aangs problems when he spent half the show trying to find peaceful solutions whenever he could would be a mistake
Personally, I hope Aang doesn't get "taken over" by Kyoshi (or Kuruk for that matter) until after Roku has done so in the fire temple. It just wouldn't feel right if that scene with Roku isn't the first time we see it happen.
Was journey to ember islands first in the show or kyoshi? I forget but I totally agree that Roku needs to be aangs primary guide. I think kyoshi will be right after Aangs trial when we see kyoshi admit to killing Chang the conqueror and instead of having aang transform back to normal, they keep him as kyoshi. They have to give aang his natural fight scenes though. The reason he has to fight through the Avatar spirit in books 1 and 2 is cause he doesn't have control over avatar state yet. Once he does, he fights as himself with full control and they have to find a way to build up to that. As a kid in high school watching aang finally master the Avatar state made me cry, scared, angry for him, and proud that he finally did it. And that's only because the show how much he struggled over years trying to achieve it and what he has to give up to get it.
I think the way how some things are changed in this is really a good thing, As I know that they said kyoshi will be the one to help and guide on what it means to truly be the avatar and she will take over his body to help bring piece and balance to defeat the fire nation. I saw that 2nd episode has to be warriors as in they are probably gonna be heading off to kyoshi island that don’t happen until ep.4 in the cartoon. Now I can dream to think it could be ezuki instead but there’s no way if that’s possible judging by the height.
I kinda feel like there gonna baby Aang in this live action and kinda make it more about the other Avatars rather than Aang and have the other avatars do things for him. And give him more advice He wont be as Mature and Wise and able to handle himself like he is in the animated series. In the animated series he's traveled all over the world so it makes since he's wise and can handle himself I dont think he will be well traveled in the live action.
My assumption is, depending on where Aang is, say he's in water tribe, the past avatar that would appear to give advices or wisdoms would be Kuruk, Kyoshi on Kyoshi island, and Roku on fire nation. That would make more sense. Also this is Book 1: Water. And Avatar Kuruk not having a major role kind of a missed opportunity.
I don't know how I feel about this change. It's interesting on the one hand, but it removes the symbolism at the same time. As Zhao said, "They gave up their immortality to become a part of our world, and now they will face the consequences." It also makes the defense of the sanctuary less important as everyday weapons cannot be used to kill them. The moon and ocean would be safe even if the water tribe fell so long as the special knife was lost to history
my college roommate is a pa on this show for vfk. he told me that there is a lot of **additional** stuff, not changes. like kyoshi being in the show has to do with her being a mentor to aang and him seeing flashbacks. he also told me they're lit for another season, but that it might not be aang's story?
Honestly i don't mind of kyoshi showing herself on her own island. Probably they are removing the detective Soka episode, and they decide to show kyoshi on this one to not exclude her appearance.
Well what concerns me the most is that Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko both left the Netflix series. They didn't say due to creative differences like most say, but it's essentially the same. Netflix wasn't honoring their vision for their OWN creation. So they separated from Netflix. That tells me that Netflix is going to take more than a few big deviations from the original animated series.
I like how people have already dismissed the show without it even being out yet. (eyeroll) Like, damn, at least wait for it to come out and give it a few episodes before you trash it. I'm a huge ATLA fan. Do I agree with all the changes that've been made to the live action series thus far? No. Was I disheartened to hear that Bryke left the production of it? Yes. But I'm still gonna give it a chance before passing final judgement.
This makes me wonder... Aang couldn't kill Ozai in the original series because it was a kids show on Nickelodeon. So the writers used the Lion Turtle as a way to get around that. But this version seems like it's going down a more PG-13 route. And with Kyoshi playing a bigger role and showing Aang "tough love", could this mean that Aang will actually kill Ozai in this version??
@@rayanvij3457I can kind of understand that, though there were a handful of fans who were upset that he didn’t kill Ozai. I’ve kinda seen it split 50-50, where some people were happy he didn’t, and some people wished he did.
Uhm. I don't understand how nobody still figured it out but here I go: We see Kyoshi on the island helping and for sure because it covers so much. It makes sense. Obviously we need Aang to go to Roku Island to meet Roku but why do we need everyone else to go like in the cartoon when you could save the budget from that to building the Kyoshi warriors story. The episodes are long and we only have 8. Going from one place to another just wouldn't make that much sense. My theory: When they go to Kyoshi Island Aang needs to fight the Fire nation but Kyoshi helps and we see how the Avatar spirit works.(readapted). They leave the Island and Aang sees Roku's dragon in the forest and decides to go visit the island and the excuse is to hide from the Fire nation. That's why he goes alone. Bam! They save the budget and give us both stories. I didn't get the part with Avatar Kuruq though. I am kinda sure that we won't see a giant Fish water of Aang but still have no idea on this.
So kyoshi is gonna do what avatar roku basicle does meaning they literally changing the story already this change is bigger theb we think in the long run....
Nah, the no unagi fire extinguisher because of budget reasons is not a reason enough. Wtf I hope they will change their minds and pull off the unagi scene as authentic as possible cuz if not, it would just be like the mulan live action with no mushu the magic dragon. I have immense expectations for this live action.
Assuming the percentage of time In between the teaser and full trailer for Avatar is the same as it was for one piece than we can expect it December 27. Alternatively the half way point between November 9 when the teaser released and February 22 when the show comes out is December 31. In short based on my math we can expect the full trailer sometime between December 27-31.
While I like the idea of the past Avatars showing up more frequently, I very much hope they manage to make you feel like there's some special rule for when and how that can happen. Roku showed up to help Aang, but he was on a Fire Nation temple to the Avatar, in the middle of a very spiritually charged day (the solstice). When Kyoshi showed up, Aang literally wore her clothes and summoned her. And all she did was talk.
as much as i love kyoshi and want to see more of her, it kinda sounds like they want a strong woman to mentor aang and thats a red flag for me. but its totally doable if they writers are any good so its not a complaint for now:)

Can we not see the tattoos lighting up on the head and the limbs on the fight on kyoshi island? This is Aang in green Kyoshi attire, you can't tell me it's not.
I’m just so happy we only have to wait 3 months
Aw man I was really hoping we would get the giant fish monster chasing Ang scene
If that’s what’s gonna happen, then I hope YangChen will make a cameo when ang Visits the air temple and learns about Monk Giatsu
@@cheetah219 yeah! That would be fun to see Kioshi fight in the present instead of in a flashback
They can't do Roku dirty like that by skipping over him
she is going to replace him
I think a lot of fans actually noticed that that was not Aang.
Now I can see why the OG show creators left the project...
womp womp they change some stuff up. its not meant to be a 1:1 remake
@@zconsciyeah but you get rid of one of the most iconic sequences in the series for budget?! Automatic Trash 😂 starting to sound like M. Night Shyamalan. Just don’t make the series. Finale might as well not even be made without Koizilla! Shit we may not even get Ko the face stealer or Hei Bai. From the sounds of how cheap they’re allegedly being. I’m starting to get disappointed 😂
@@csavedude these are assumptions. You act as if these are confirmed. And Koi the face stealer is already casted. The fact that they even bothered casting the cabbage merchant to stay true to the source material says a lot.
@@RustinMarkJandongan you didn’t see the question marks and “may not” and “allegedly” all through my comment? Lmao
bro has been talking abt the ATLA Movie for MORE THAN 2 YRS
It’s a show
Bro doesnt even know that it’s not a movie
I don't think this is how we will see Avatar Kuruk in the series, I don't think we will see him replace Aang in battle but it will go like in the regular series only that at the point where zhao explains his plan to kill the moon Spirit instead of seeing him reading the scroll while he talks in the background we will see a flashback of Avatar Kuruk and see how he killed the ghosts and then go back to general zhao at the end
I am getting more excited now
Maybe they spice up the Avatar State instead of just glowiy power all the time, he can tap into past avatars more specifically (as said, like Roku did on the island) and it gives visuals of that avatar as he uses their experience. Lets them add visual interest without major changes in really how the AS works... It's always been him tapping into past avatar power, this is just being a little specific with it.
*Korra spoilers about the true nature of the avatar state*
He taps into them but he's also tapping into the light spirit Rava who is bonded to the avatar and is the reason they can bend all the elements.
I think Kyoshi and Roku doing it is fine but Kuruk shouldn’t.
@@rayanvij3457 I agree. While it might be a little cartoony to do the giant ocean spirit. I still hope they do something tied to the ocean spirit not a past Avatar. There was something awesome about seeing the Ocean spirit ready to avenge the death of the moon spirit.
@@Puckett. Well Stranger Things all seasons have all had big monsters so they should be able to do koizilla.
Gordon is actually not THAT short compared to Kiawentiio she was wearing platform boots in that photo 😂
Here before this video explodes
I would totally be okay using past avatars to show the potential, in visions, the kyoshi court case things like that
Using the Avatar state as a crux to solvfe all of aangs problems when he spent half the show trying to find peaceful solutions whenever he could would be a mistake
Im cool with other avatars being introduced as long as they dont undermine Roku. I have an unnerving feeling the will.
I’m cool with this change.
I can't wait !
I like this, they have to keep in in budget and they do it well!
I think Kuruk used a cool dagger thing 🔪
Yeah it sweet that they have made A Live action avatar the last airbender I am Hoping it doesn't Turn into a drag kill
5:33 I agree that Kuruk might take over Aang's bofy but I also think we're still going to have the ocean spirit koi kaiju. That's what I hope happens.
I like the breakdown and detail. I want to say the weapons he uses is stones and ice.
I m waiying for their live action
I don't know how I feel about this change. It's interesting on the one hand, but it removes the symbolism at the same time. As Zhao said, "They gave up their immortality to become a part of our world, and now they will face the consequences." It also makes the defense of the sanctuary less important as everyday weapons cannot be used to kill them. The moon and ocean would be safe even if the water tribe fell so long as the special knife was lost to history
I literally read the Kyoshi novels but I forget the technique. I guess it’s time to reread them
Unpopular opinion: As a person who never watch the original animation, I binged watch this live action and i love it.
my college roommate is a pa on this show for vfk. he told me that there is a lot of **additional** stuff, not changes. like kyoshi being in the show has to do with her being a mentor to aang and him seeing flashbacks.
he also told me they're lit for another season, but that it might not be aang's story?
Honestly i don't mind of kyoshi showing herself on her own island. Probably they are removing the detective Soka episode, and they decide to show kyoshi on this one to not exclude her appearance.
Karuk used a spear😊
I would like to know the technique to kill spirits
Great vidoe
Kuruk fought spirits by entering the spirit world physically so he could still bend, I could bet that is how zhao may try to kill the moon spirit
This series is amazing 😂😂, no matter what they changed
If Godzilla minus one can do it on a budget of 15million dollars why can't Netflix do a Koizilla 😅
I could see a scenario where we see a spirit version of Kuruk come and kill Zhao
HYPE HYPE HYPE
He won’t. Fans would be to mad.
@@rayanvij3457I can kind of understand that, though there were a handful of fans who were upset that he didn’t kill Ozai. I’ve kinda seen it split 50-50, where some people were happy he didn’t, and some people wished he did.
If we are going to see Kioshi and Kuruk in the same season, that's block buster, netflix are changing everything
Uhm. I don't understand how nobody still figured it out but here I go:
We see Kyoshi on the island helping and for sure because it covers so much.
I will miss the koizilla
What is Toph Bei Fong going to look like in Avatar The Last Airbender Netflix Series
So kyoshi is gonna do what avatar roku basicle does meaning they literally changing the story already this change is bigger theb we think in the long run....
I wish they made kyoshi someone as described in show over 6 feet tall
If the finale doesn’t have Coizilla you might as well not even make the series… like what?!
Idc as long it's not terrible as the movie that can't be said. I'm ok. But by looking at the trailer i got convince it'll be great series 🎉
Whoo
I think your wrong about Zhao, because I don't see the side burns(side bread) 😅😂😂😂
When will we get the official trailer? I'm dying waiting for it😓
Me too buddy
Assuming the percentage of time In between the teaser and full trailer for Avatar is the same as it was for one piece than we can expect it December 27. Alternatively the half way point between November 9 when the teaser released and February 22 when the show comes out is December 31. In short based on my math we can expect the full trailer sometime between December 27-31.
I’m okay changing Koizilla with Kuruk. Or it could be, Aang possessed by Kuruk then fused with Koizilla.
Is kyoshi island not enough for you? That wasnt RoKu Temple.
@@allyjay7395 No, not for me. Kyoshi Island is an entire island and there was no solstice or equivalent there.
And it was the Avatar Temple.
hmmm. Kuruk killed the eel spirits with stone and ice, but I don't think zhao would use that to kill the moon spirit?
I prefer Zhao killing the fish with the fire
I better see Koizilla! I was robbed by that thing that shall not be named! I want Koizilla!
He kills the spirits with a diamond dagger.
Zhilan omg 😍😍😍😍😍
I have a theory that Aang will call on Kiyoshi more than Roku, due to Roku being the reason for the air nation genocide
The thumbnail looks similar to my AI generated Avatar Kyoshi. 😮
2:02 I don't think that's Zhao at all, just by zooming in I could tell.
Aang literally turned into Roku so perhaps he can turn into kyoshi as well.
U foresaw it.....
as much as i love kyoshi and want to see more of her, it kinda sounds like they want a strong woman to mentor aang and thats a red flag for me. but its totally doable if they writers are any good so its not a complaint for now:)
I'm VERY concerned about this, being this is Netflix we're talking about... Avatarthem, the last substance alterererererer.
