    It’s cool if we see more Avatars helping Aang. But I hope they don’t just use an Avatar for every inconvenience that Aang faces. Roku definitely helped Aang and guided him throughout the show. But for the most part he dealt with his problems his own way. If every major action scene and important part of the show is just “yay an Avatar showed up” I think it’s gonna kinda get boring after a while.

      I’d be okay if there would be some tastefull changes to the story, like Kyoshi being the one saving the village right after admiting the indirect murder of that tyrant/conqueror to show them she did what she did for the good of everyone, or additional scenes where Aang turns to the for guidance or just wants to know more about his previous lives since he just feels them in the avatar state or something, like expand the scene when he learns its true nature

      I hope that past avatars present themselves through aang to address matters that are relevant to them. In The original series, we saw Kyoshi appear following her trial and Roku present himself to help the gaang escape from the guards who had abandoned their loyalty to the avatar. Aang would still be the avatar most relevant to most contemporary conflicts, and so he would deal with them himself.

    Honestly I agree with changing the Unagi and Ocean spirit battles, they would be entirely CGI, expensive, and potentially cheesier in a live action. However, if three of the biggest battles in the season are just won by past avatars, that feels lame.
    Aang learning how to deal with things on his own / his own way, and developing his morals is a huge part of the first season, if a spirit possession comes in whenever things get tough, its like Aang isn't even there / important, what are the stakes? Still very excited, and have faith that there is more to it that we are missing.

    • @PeregrineSW

      I never liked how the Ocean Spirit was dealt with at the end of season 1. The giant WALKING water fish looked terrible. They could have handled it better. I mean, why was it walking?
      They could change the scene with Aang floating in avatar state and the ocean spirit fish circling around him or something of the sort.

      @maarten699 10 месяцев назад +3

      Honestly I think it could still work. Aang in season 1 could be so weak that he needs the past avatars to fight for him. Then in following seasons he gets more independent. This could then also make a plotline of him being kinda insecure about himself, thinking he is nothing compared to past avatars and constantly needing their help.
      Of course this all changes the story a bit, but if it works (maybe even better), I don't think that it is a problem.

    I would also like to point out that there is a big chance we can now what episodes are most likely being cut. You can see from the cast that someone like Haru is being cut while Jet isn’t. That is most likely because every character that plays an important role in later seasons has to be in the first season. Jet is very important in season 2. The mechanist and his son are very important for the day of black sun. Haru does show up during the day of black sun, but is not important for the story at all. That’s why I think his episode (imprisoned), along with the great divide, the waterbending scroll, the fortune teller and bato of the water tribe (but June will be somewhere) will be cut. Im not sure with the Deserter since Jeong Jeong hasn’t been cast, but he does play a big role.

    i'm afraid that if this kyoshi appearance happens that early in the series, no longer will there be that wow effect we all had when first faced how roku took over aang's body. just remember the goosebumps we had just because this was so unexpected, unimaginable, mesmerizing and scary. now it will just be another cool but expected thing.

    • @takdanik
      @takdanik 11 месяцев назад +5

      @rayanvij3457 my point is that it happens too early, not for WHICH avatar. in the original series it happens in 8th episode, when the viewer already formed some kind of personal understanding of how avatar-ish thing works, and then the series breaks it with avatar cycles, comet, and then breaks again with roku's manifestation. and now you understand that you deal with something great, and understand that you will never be sure if you know everything about it. had it happened in one of the first episodes, where the viewer only gets to know all of this, crazy new stuff would not have been so surprising, it would've been expected and waited for. mysteries should be revealed at last

    I think that's a good thing. It's an Avatar ability that was wasted along with all the other Avatar abilities. Except the ability to enhance the bending. The Avatar can borrow from all previous Avatars in unlimited ways & other abilities like become one with The Moon Spirit and the ability mostly presented was the ability to enhance the bending. If Netflix wants to add to the story by showing all the Avatar's abilities just as much... I'm fine with it. Change can be a good thing.

This is like part of the spirit of Kyoshi trying to do what kuruk have lost and couldn’t by trying setting the village free from the fire nations wrath and dealing more with the world affairs unlike kuruk in the live action and how Kyoshi was initially upset with Kuruk when he revealed that the spirits feared him because he hunted them.

      Was journey to ember islands first in the show or kyoshi? I forget but I totally agree that Roku needs to be aangs primary guide. I think kyoshi will be right after Aangs trial when we see kyoshi admit to killing Chang the conqueror and instead of having aang transform back to normal, they keep him as kyoshi.
      They have to give aang his natural fight scenes though. The reason he has to fight through the Avatar spirit in books 1 and 2 is cause he doesn't have control over avatar state yet. Once he does, he fights as himself with full control and they have to find a way to build up to that.
      As a kid in high school watching aang finally master the Avatar state made me cry, scared, angry for him, and proud that he finally did it. And that's only because the show how much he struggled over years trying to achieve it and what he has to give up to get it.

    I think the way how some things are changed in this is really a good thing, As I know that they said kyoshi will be the one to help and guide on what it means to truly be the avatar and she will take over his body to help bring piece and balance to defeat the fire nation. I saw that 2nd episode has to be warriors as in they are probably gonna be heading off to kyoshi island that don’t happen until ep.4 in the cartoon. Now I can dream to think it could be ezuki instead but there’s no way if that’s possible judging by the height.

    I kinda feel like there gonna baby Aang in this live action and kinda make it more about the other Avatars rather than Aang and have the other avatars do things for him. And give him more advice He wont be as Mature and Wise and able to handle himself like he is in the animated series. In the animated series he's traveled all over the world so it makes since he's wise and can handle himself I dont think he will be well traveled in the live action.

    My assumption is, depending on where Aang is, say he's in water tribe, the past avatar that would appear to give advices or wisdoms would be Kuruk, Kyoshi on Kyoshi island, and Roku on fire nation. That would make more sense. Also this is Book 1: Water. And Avatar Kuruk not having a major role kind of a missed opportunity.

    I don't know how I feel about this change. It's interesting on the one hand, but it removes the symbolism at the same time. As Zhao said, "They gave up their immortality to become a part of our world, and now they will face the consequences." It also makes the defense of the sanctuary less important as everyday weapons cannot be used to kill them. The moon and ocean would be safe even if the water tribe fell so long as the special knife was lost to history

    my college roommate is a pa on this show for vfk. he told me that there is a lot of **additional** stuff, not changes. like kyoshi being in the show has to do with her being a mentor to aang and him seeing flashbacks.
    he also told me they're lit for another season, but that it might not be aang's story?

    Well what concerns me the most is that Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko both left the Netflix series. They didn't say due to creative differences like most say, but it's essentially the same. Netflix wasn't honoring their vision for their OWN creation. So they separated from Netflix. That tells me that Netflix is going to take more than a few big deviations from the original animated series.

    I like how people have already dismissed the show without it even being out yet. (eyeroll) Like, damn, at least wait for it to come out and give it a few episodes before you trash it. I'm a huge ATLA fan. Do I agree with all the changes that've been made to the live action series thus far? No. Was I disheartened to hear that Bryke left the production of it? Yes. But I'm still gonna give it a chance before passing final judgement.

    This makes me wonder... Aang couldn't kill Ozai in the original series because it was a kids show on Nickelodeon. So the writers used the Lion Turtle as a way to get around that. But this version seems like it's going down a more PG-13 route. And with Kyoshi playing a bigger role and showing Aang "tough love", could this mean that Aang will actually kill Ozai in this version??

    Uhm. I don't understand how nobody still figured it out but here I go:
    We see Kyoshi on the island helping and for sure because it covers so much. It makes sense. Obviously we need Aang to go to Roku Island to meet Roku but why do we need everyone else to go like in the cartoon when you could save the budget from that to building the Kyoshi warriors story. The episodes are long and we only have 8. Going from one place to another just wouldn't make that much sense.
    My theory: When they go to Kyoshi Island Aang needs to fight the Fire nation but Kyoshi helps and we see how the Avatar spirit works.(readapted). They leave the Island and Aang sees Roku's dragon in the forest and decides to go visit the island and the excuse is to hide from the Fire nation. That's why he goes alone. Bam! They save the budget and give us both stories.
    I didn't get the part with Avatar Kuruq though. I am kinda sure that we won't see a giant Fish water of Aang but still have no idea on this.

      Assuming the percentage of time In between the teaser and full trailer for Avatar is the same as it was for one piece than we can expect it December 27. Alternatively the half way point between November 9 when the teaser released and February 22 when the show comes out is December 31. In short based on my math we can expect the full trailer sometime between December 27-31.

    While I like the idea of the past Avatars showing up more frequently, I very much hope they manage to make you feel like there's some special rule for when and how that can happen.
    Roku showed up to help Aang, but he was on a Fire Nation temple to the Avatar, in the middle of a very spiritually charged day (the solstice).
    When Kyoshi showed up, Aang literally wore her clothes and summoned her. And all she did was talk.
