She is, indeed, a remarkable ship, so much classier and better than the "bigger" RCCL shoe-boxes. I was fortunate to spend a month aboard her during her maiden season - crossing to England, cruising northern Europe, and sailing back to NYC. I and a friend stayed in one of the cheapest, inside staterooms, and it had more space than a typical outside on any other passenger ship.
Inpri - this is ridiculous! burning quantity’s of fuel, producing large quantity of C02 to transport an old and obese population during 7 days to a place where they don’t need to go in the first place!
Love this vessel. Elegance, sophistication, class. All 3 superlatives perfectly encapsulate this modern marvel. Will be onboard for the third time, in 2 weeks time. Southampton to New York. Love it.
Had a great time on QM2 back in 2008. Can't wait to sail on her again! A true Ocean Liner - not an "island hopper". Not as glamourous or elaborate in decor as Titanic, Maurentania etc.., but as close as you can get these days. There was a sense of nostalgia on her that other 'cruise ships' do not have.
Brooklyn is a part of NYC. The dock there makes it easier and quicker for embarking and disembarking. It may not be as "glamorous" as the old Chelsea Manhattan pier, but far more practicle. Even other lines are now using it when the QM2 is not there.
@bekimsp That is because QM2 wasn't build for those purposes. It was build as an ocean liner not a cruise ship. In effect she doesn't offer what Cruise ships do. Cunard is a 6 star company that offers elegance rather than flow riders central parks and ice skating rinks. Cunard offers 5 star spas, 5 star dinning, Todd Chef, Verandah, planetarium, and large suites.
Earlier, First Engineer Brenton Clifford was quoted as saying, 'The ship cannot be delayed in any manner.' However, when the ship captain, Commander Bernard Warner gave the order to cast off, it was already two hours delayed. Why is that?
AvariceUntied, if a serious medical emergency happens in the middle of the Atlantic, the Coast Guard will be notified and a med-evac chopper will be dispatched to airlift the passenger off the ship. The ship also has dedicated medical professionals to stabilize and care for the passenger until the chopper arrives.
The 150,000 ton QM2 is longer than the 154,000 ton Freedom Class ships. (the new 220,000 Oasis of the Seas is larger than both). QM2 is a fast premiun liner/cruise ship while the RCI ships are mass-market cruise ships geared towards a different (lower priced) cruise/voyage experience.
@wwedude1 On my bucket list, too...and I plan to make it soon!!! I do not think that you have to worry...the QE2 was designed with a 20-year hull life and ended up serving from the last 1960s to 2008...over 40 years. This one has a 40-year hull life (which can be extended by extensive overhaul/drydocking). Just remember, this one of the "Real Thing"...the Queen Victoria and new Queen Elizabeth, though nice, aren't true "liners," but simply Destiny-Class cruise ships painted in Cunard colors.
@beaum1cah but keep in mind that not all the money that they gain from the ship in ticket sales is pure profit, they have to maintain the ship, buy food for the ship, pay for repairs, pay the people who check the ships, pay for fuel, pay all the crew, and they have other ships to maintain too, the Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, why do you think that Oasis is not helping RCI as much as they though it would, thats why price is high. Oasis made RCI get in debt.
The Queen Mary(1) was build in Britain. QM2, QV, QE were designed by British but built abroad. Unless the entire ship is build, tested and approve all the requirements, the company will not make the payment. These legendary sized ships cost obviously tops the skies. So it has to be contracted globally.
it would cost alot to make the ships. therefore it would make prices of tickets more expensive. in a way its good that they have just one. it makes it more enjoyable for the passengers i quess.
@delorean622 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA DON"T MAKE ME LAUGH. If it rains you can't swim on oasis of the seas, but if it rains you can still swim on the QM2. It has 2 indoor swimming pools, one of which produces massage and simulates a waterfall.
She doesn't tie up in NYC, she docks in Brooklyn because it is cheaper for Carnival to do so "She is booked years in advance"...Bull..P&O, Cunard's operators and managers have had big issues filling Cunard ships at published rates. Her passengers are paying discounted fares...P&O is having major issues with Cunard.
homeric9 right....... two things. 1. To most of the world, Brooklyn is New York. 2. My husband and I booked two years in advance to get exactly the itinerary we wanted. 3. Can you spell _pedantic_ ?
beaum1cah, her service life is about 40 years, and her inaugural voyage was in 2003, so I don't think we have anything to worry about. I'm 33 now and I'll be around 70 before she is decommissioned.
Why don't you re-read my comment, especially the first line. I am extolling this ship. Besides the Oasis can handle rough seas. Perhaps not as well as the QM2
I find her design hopelessly difficult to follow. Carnival, who stayed with tradition, did everything they could to cut corners. QM2's last refit was cut by 2 weeks...and she has had issues. Even the fire/explosion from 2 years ago was not properly addressed. P&O Cruises, Cunard's operators/managers, seem almost borderlined burdened with managing the 3 ships and have just wiped out much of the Cunard tradition.
I know besides QM2 is 40% stronger than both freedom and oasis. freedom is only slightly larger than the Queen because of her fat guts, and oasis is definatly larger, but ...think what if (God forbid) the ship faced a heavy wave like it did before the 80 ft wav, and unlike the first time, they have passengers there, what would happen to the people in central park and the boardwalk as well as the aqua theater??? like I said I hope this doesn't happen for the people, but thats just horrible.
Your ignorance made me laugh. QM2 is a combination of classic/modern transatlantic oceanic linear which can sustain and persuade its journey at any weather condition whereas the oasis and modern cruise ships needs to make an emergency stop at the nearby harbour.
@sadanieldavey y wud that be mre expensive? obviously theyre makin a fortune off that one ship if u haf tobook a voyage years in advanced..if they made more there wud be double the fortune!!

Coventry Lane Farm - how much C02 did you produce on the QM2 ... for which reason?
Brooklyn is a part of NYC. The dock there makes it easier and quicker for embarking and disembarking. It may not be as "glamorous" as the old Chelsea Manhattan pier, but far more practicle. Even other lines are now using it when the QM2 is not there.
OUTSTANDINGLY HIGH QUALITY SERVICES in EVERY SECTORS ... W O N D E R F U L ... !
Thank you so much for posting this!

6:07 So if you get a heart attack when the ship is halfway across the Atlantic you're screwed?
AvariceUntied, if a serious medical emergency happens in the middle of the Atlantic, the Coast Guard will be notified and a med-evac chopper will be dispatched to airlift the passenger off the ship. @delorean622 well Oasis was made for young people will Queen Marry is made for more senior people both of the target market is very different
its one of a kind. it makes it more enjoyable.
Oasis is a monster of a ship but this beauty is all class. I would love to sail in her one day. A throwback to the glory years.
I have been on it and I highly recommend it to others amazing ship
Patrick Justin most of us aren’t rich enough to partake in such a luxury,
Lucky you
@qatarguy2010 how was your trip? was it anything like you expected?
I want traveling with my family but I haven't money. I hope i will travel one day
Queen Mary 2 is the most amazing ship ever built !
cunardliner32 - an amazing polluter ... for what?
The designer admitted that the choice of Diesel engines was a big mistake...
How much are the tickets?
IM GOING ON THIS WHEN IT LEAVES NEW YORK NEXT!!!!
I CANT WAIT!!!!
So how was it?
@wwedude1 On my bucket list, too...and I plan to make it soon!!! She is an Ocean Liner, not a cruise ship.
Aveoy whatever she is ... a massive polluter ... for what?
@@philippechevereau9818 NO

2,600 passengers but only 1,300 beds. Couples only then!
who made this video?

Dewakar Bloom S - wherever built, it is a gigantic polluter ... for nothing!
@enterthematrix11 That's what I meant by size isn't everything. I was referring to QM2's ocean liner qualities.
I agree. The Oasis of the Seas is just a huge floating mall!
Amazing amazing amazing...
for one way transatlantic crossing you are looking about £1400 based on two sharing
think of how much that would cost. it would be more expensive for the passengers aswell
Okay butbhow do u become a ship captan
Where's part 1?
I reported it to YT corp.
I've seen my husband at 2:16 hahahathat was 10 years ago
I want to work aboard this ship sometime! Ah, I can only dream for now...
AGM hard work but admirable.
That library was strange :D
it would cost alot to make the ships. therefore it would make prices of tickets more expensive. in a way its good that they have just one. it makes it more enjoyable for the passengers i quess.
i agree with you queen mary 2 is the best ship ever =D
a MI? ouch talk about a bummer for that passenger =[
This ship is better than Oasis of the seas. this ship even has Hermes and Chopard
Thanks.
why do u haf to book a voyage years in advanced? y dnt they make more queen mary 2s if she is so popular??
SHE SHE EVERYTIME WHY ITS LIKE ALL SHIPS ARE A SHE AND THE TITANIC AND ALL WOW!!!!!!
It’s a tradition that dates back hundreds of years.
Keys _because_ ships *are* female!
This is a fantastic ship! I stayed in the Q1 suite the first time. It cost $57,000, but it was well worth it!
Not to mention that no one in their right mind should ever trust the Oasis in the unpredictable North Atlantic...
She doesn't tie up in NYC, she docks in Brooklyn because it is cheaper for Carnival to do so
"She is booked years in advance"...Bull..P&O, Cunard's operators and managers have had big issues filling Cunard ships at published rates. Her passengers are paying discounted fares...P&O is having major issues with Cunard.

Queen Mary 2 is a Carnival designed and owned vessel...it is a shame Carnival puts money before aesthetic, comfort and passanger safety.
Wow what a fucking business! You need everything on that ship! They've thought more than they could know! Amazing.
Hope to sail on her next year
the cost of the original queen mary 1 is 2 billion dollars
Queen Mary 2 in brazil plssssss!
Can i find eng sub??? Pls i really need
Ohh my dream place education loan broken my dreams, it's my dream to do any mechanical job in ship i can't complete by marine mechanical education
I agree
Bigger than the titanic or birtannic?
+shwe moe About 2-5 to 3 times as big by gross tons. nearly 250 feet longer and bout 75-100 feet taller.
To give you an idea of how big she is. Titanic's bow would be parallel with the QM2's bridge.
@beaum1cah She's only 6 years old....a "baby" for an ocean liner!!! And more important, she's very PROFITABLE!!!
The Library - staffed by a team of miseries...
Ein schönerausfallender Clipperbug, aber leider diese massigen Aufbauten und der einzige, achterliche Schornstein, verschandeln den schönen Rumpf.
heart attack just before the ship sets sail... guys stay healthy
Why don't you re-read my comment, especially the first line. I am extolling this ship. Besides the Oasis can handle rough seas. Perhaps not as well as the QM2

:O
@cunardia123
Royal Carribean has better ships for families.
@S117ELITEmontages WIN7 sucks, they use xp, the best and most stable windows.
wow - this documentary is soo staged :)
._. :O wow -_- O_O
Next time call me for better price :)
II the prison who had a hard attack
Many people think she is a cruise ship, but she isn't. She is an ocean liner.
