While I carry a strong side folder, & a fixed blade near the centerline on my waist I can draw with either hand or sitting, but bringing a knife to a knife fight is a bad idea as why woukd you want to fight on even terms? Rather bring a knife to a fist fight, & bring a gun to a knife fight, and I'm speaking of you being attacked & not trying to pick a fight. My main purpose for drawing a knife is to create space when grappling to safely deploy a firearm. Love the training, but feel sorry for those that choose not to carry a gun, or live somewhere we daddy doesn't issue you permission. Keep the great content coming!

I am not a knife fighter but it's always good to learn. In case I have to disarm someone with a knife. Chances are they might be packing 2 knifes. Thank you for your lessons and techniques.

On your last timing, I'm thinking it would be better to go offensive with hands rather than trying to get to your weapon so late in the game. You are already behind in time, and trying to get to your weapon mid-attack is time you are not causing damage, yet you are receiving damage. What say you? I am thinking it is along the lines of, "It depends", every fight is unique.

As ive said before i left gun at home had a stiletto folder got jumped by 3 guys and got cracked on top of the head with half of a brick and stomped out there was no time to grab the blade and open the folder till they were running to there car , i didnt lose anything just got fucked up real bad but when fights initiated and there teying to take your headoff theres not much thinking you got fight and react ,thats why they say train,, and person keep nice lil toaster always near you its can end a fight quicker then edges and blunt objects forsure

Great post, better than most of the knucklehead replies this topic gets. In a multi-person attack (been there, done that, lived to tell about it) it is best to use your unarmed skills until there is a break in time/distance to secure your weapon.
My teacher has always said there is no defense against a sucker punch. Meaning, sometimes our defense starts after we have already been hit and must do the best we can, as you have done.

How many knife fights have you been in?

I’ve been in a couple of situations where blades were drawn but I was able to deescalate them. However, our system has been utilized in the field in many instances, mostly (but not exclusively) by limit art and law enforcement south of the border. What we do has been refined and streamlined based on feedback from those incidents.

@@LibreFighting I think presenting your own knife when faced with a knife does a good deal to take the wind out of their sails. They are counting of you not being armed and you being in brown pants fear of their knife.

This guy has probably never been in a food fight never mind a knife fight. Southnarc or Jared Wihongi or Kelly McCann all the way, not the boy next door. 😢

Funny given how many people are no longer around because of Libre practitioners. Southnarc is awesome, but what he does is centered around a completely different range, mindset and often context (wrestling based, developed initially out of an LE context and still has a major LE/MIL focus) from Libre (boxing based, developed out of a CIV context), Pekiti Tirsia is cool but doesn't have a proper active real-world-use feedback loop and their training methods are often detached from reality. Kelly McCann is cool, but the active feedback loop applies too.
If you're smart, you do multiple of them. Southnarc and Libre complement each other very well (one is grappling based, the other is basically dirty Mexicali boxing with a knife), and anything else you want to throw on top will do nothing but help inform you to do better.
