Are these 'official' boss names, or just ones you've created? A boss named 'Apartheid' for a game in 1991 seems a bit dramatic for a Japanese horizontal space-shooter.
I really like your boss fight videos, mister. Must have been really hard for some to reach to the final boss and stage. And it must be cool getting money by making these rad videos.
Apartheid is so much like the GCS-WT, the final boss of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive title SOL-DEACE and SEGA-CD version, titled SOL-FEACE, just a graphics and attack pattern swap. Definitely prefer the MEGA-CD version. You have some serious skill, Shadowserg!

Wow, nice visuals (especially in that last stage). You should try "Devastator" for the Sega/Mega-CD, it has the same weird cosmic feeling ( and nice music too)
I can only assume warping through time, but your guess on the final phase's background is as good as mine (I'm assuming computers and cats took over the world).
Just a thought, but I think the cat in the last part of the final boss may represent Schroedinger's Cat; symbolizing how both you and the Nemesis leader (possibly through absorption of so much of the Newalone) have transcended time and space themselves, and are in a place beyond the reach of either, where everything is theoretical and metaphysical (hence the Evangelion/Akira-esque ending).
@@Blueflag04 Possibly, given the ending. In the classic style of this sort of ending, things aren't 100% clear as to whether your pilot made it home successfully, died in battle, or was transported to another dimension/timeline, but whatever the case, the implication being that this is for the best.
Was not expecting the giant opabinia. Startled the heck outta me. The giant _Carinaria_ snail as Nature(?) was hella cool. But what was with the cat? Was it being used as a living computer or something along those lines? Was that when science went too far?
@@Blueflag04 Humanity chose a compromise of peace with the enemy silicon based lifeforms, but after the death of John Ford (the pilot of the Player fighter), they mobilized 20,000 Blackflies and a space carrier to go to the enemy's home base. If the enemy focuses on the Blackfly's powerful beam weapon and fuses with it, humanity's destruction will be inevitable...
@@luisreyes1963 It was intended to be Darius III, but that idea got thrown out the window for how dark and complicated the game's story supposedly was.
If you're talking about the final boss, it's probably because of how surreal it is. His tail is also creepy-looking, and the boss itself looks like a shed exoskeleton
I...I don't understand. I'm giving Shadowserg a like on this, but I hate this game. Wh...what is this? WHY IS THIS? You can't just throw s@$t at a screen and call it "difficulty". I think it's official. I got it from Darius Wiki.
@@Discospawn it's dutch for wierdness which is fitting for that boss I say.
@@Shadowserg
Stage 2 boss is Fedoro,(フェドロ)not Feeder.
If the Darius wiki lists it as a Feeder, then it is wrong.
yeah.... going to need to find a book on the last boss alone.
It's based off of a genus of sea snail called carinaria.
1:56 THAT'S NO MOON!
Nice
this comment deserves more likes.
It's official that the final boss is on some kind of drugs to project trippy background to the player
This one of the most lsd side scrolling shoot em ups ever.
Were the backgrounds of the final boss meant to be symbolic imagery projected from the alien's observations of earth?
The final boss is actually the manifest of Earth's will. That's why final stage's title is "A mirage of mind Gaia".
@@arcenciel4637 what does that line even mean?
@@Blueflag04 It means the final boss is a projection of Gaia (Will/Soul of Earth). You are actually fighting the planet.
OOOH so the player is the bad guy?
@@_Venvel No. Final boss use earth projection to trick the player.
@Shadowserg you are an absolute legend, love your videos!
Boss 3 sure seems like a dung-beetle playing the role of Sisyphus.
Also, the creature underneath it is a giant Opabinia!
Did... did this game predict that cat memes would become the height of human culture??
This was a weird one. But good nonetheless.
Impressive visuals for 'ol 1991

Music from Taito games is marvelous video game music!
(oh and another fine shoot up game too, good mechanics)

Thanks for the info.
I love the death animations for these bosses!
That first boss looks like a chozo statue from super Metroid crossed with Queen Slugforabutt.
nice.
I just stopped caring about what the hell is going in during the final boss.

@@Shadowserg Love your videos man. I too am a huge Vampire Hunter D fan as well.
What is the symbolism meant from the final boss?
How to be confused by everything on screen while tripping on acid by Taito
Joao Batista Perin Junior You could be thinking this was actually created by UPL.
I really would like to more about the storyline and lore.
Me too
the visual effects on the third boss make it very difficult to see where exactly the boss is or where its moving
Oh just as i asked you Shadowserg. Thank you!
You are welcome! ;)
....What the heck was going on during the final boss?
I can only assume warping through time, but your guess on the final phase's background is as good as mine (I'm assuming computers and cats took over the world).
Illusions and symbolism about the human nature from it's ugly truth.

Third inpact?
@@sollyatarz825 Something like that, or the singularity at the end of Diebuster/Akira.
So the player destroy the final boss and ends up warping to another dimension?

Don't shoot! This metal isn't Black!
The first boss's background made me wonder if I was high.
