- In 2015, A’Ziah “Zola” King broke the internet when her 148-tweet Twitter thread about a sex work trip gone wrong trended across the web. The eyebrow-raising saga was read by millions as she detailed being taken to Tampa and lured into a sex trafficking ring by a girl she met at Hooters. The weekend trip escapade has now been turned into a film titled “Zola.” The woman behind the infamous tale joins “Tamron Hall” to tell us about her real-life events and making the movie about #TheStory, which hits theaters on June 30th.

This movie was crazy! I really liked it. It was intense, it was funny at times, it was scary. Janicza did an awesome job directing this.
I'd read the IG thread years ago but just saw the movie in 2024. Both lead actresses were great and it was a good movie. Who knew that the King's granddaughter had such acting chops.

good reminder that it is a cautionary tale. it gives ppl an opportunity to, someday, recognize what sex trafficking looks like (or can look like bc there are soooo many different forms). but baaaayyyybbbbaaayy... this movie was HELLA entertaining! didnt know about the tweets until I saw the film on Showtime and oh I loved it. made me hope it wasnt real bc that's fked up, but jeez... viewing it as a "ain't no way this happened" lense... loved every moment of it

I just watched the movie last night (2/27/22) loved it and it keeps rolling in my head. Great acting!
I just love how she states that s3x work was a choice she made and she enjoyed the work. We needed more positive s3x work advocates, and allies that focus more on the positive side to s3x work ✌💕

She had no choice. If you are lured into trafficking or almost lured into sex trafficking you are gonna do what the pimp says in order to stay safe or any means to survive. You have to think very smart in those situations. She had no choice especially if your infront of a pimp with very manipulative behavior especially if he has a gun.
