Thank you, Paulie. Your reaction was so genuine and heartfelt. I cry almost every time I hear Eva, especially this song. If a person doesn’t get a tear listening to her, they’re really not listening. Again, thank you.
Eva's rendition of Fields of Gold is masterful and uplifting, if you're interested. Autumn Leaves is another one that's been covered over and over, but Eva's version makes you think you've never actually understood the lyrics before. I think you would enjoy them.
thanks for watching, This was great I started thinking of childhood and of course when I was a kid watching wizard of oz got me all mushy thinking of the good ol days:)
Just saw your reaction and we all understand it because we have all been so deeply affected by Eva's pure voice and innovative musical choices. You could have heard a pin drop in the bar where this was recorded because they really felt her yearning as she strummed and sang. We are blessed to have these few Videos and what recordings she made while she was here. Thank you for acknowledging her incredible gift of song she shared with us. ☺🌈🎶🎸
Thank you for your reaction to this you were as moved as I always am every time I hear it. I believe when Eva was singing this she was singing about heaven unfortunately little did we know she would be there only a few months later. She left us so many treasures. 😇😇😇
ty Jay I think i have done almost 300 reactions this past year and this is top 5 easily for me as a favorite song/artist so very emotional and sad , yearning for a different time and memories . just so many emotions
I have enjoyed this performance many times over the past month since I first heard a reaction video of it and was imediately moved to tears of joy for the soul touching experience ❤
Eva Cassidy was so incredible what a voice and talent. It was such a tragedy and loss to the world when she died of cancer at only 33 years old in 1996, but her music will forever live on. Some other recommendations are Danny Boy, Time After Time, Fields Of Gold, Autumn Leaves, What A Wonderful World, Songbird. Thank you for your wonderful reaction.
And we must never forget she played the acoustic guitar as well so beautifully. This demanded skill and attention. And she seemed so alone and sad as she deeply moved our hearts. It struck me as a Lament for the vagaries of our lives - asking questions - simple questions - that impact us but have no definitive answers. Yet we must carry on: The Rainbow for Eva was Heaven. Thank-you.
So many amazing Eva Cassidy songs. Autumn Leaves, Stormy Monday, Blues in the Night, I Know You By Heart, Fields of Gold, and many more, take your pick!
Paulie, you have my respect. Thank you for not cluttering the experience. Eva is just that...an experience. In this song, she seems to almost be pleading that such a place - a destination - is a reality. She'd not yet been diagnosed at the time of this performance, but I think she knew. Her knowledge comes out in this greatest rendition of "Over The Rainbow." Any of her acoustic songs are powerful; there quite a few here on RUclips, thankfully, but her electric guitar accompanied songs are unbelievable, as well. Thank you for sharing an honest response to the world of Eva. There was never another like her. An angel on loan for a very short time.
I believe Eva Cassidy was given a special talent to not only move us with her singing and guitar playing, but her ability to take a song and re-write it without changing the lyrics and if you allow your soul to hear hers, you realize she is explaining that the special place above the Rainbow is a place where we will fly to to be with the Lord in the sky and be with him for Eternity
She is another gifted artist passing away at young age. Her tone is pure and heartfelt. Every word in the lyrics she sang is convincing and true. Whenever I hear of Eva, I can't help but think about my life, her singing is a reflection of life.
this performance Is very relatable and moving for so many. You can see by my reaction that i was moved bigtime I have gone back and listened many times and will be reacting to more of Eva very soon
Any and everything she did is worth reacting to. Sting's Fields of Gold, classics like "WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD"," STORMY MONDAY", John Lennon's "IMAGINE". THE list goes on and on
"Autumn Leaves" is another one. Also I just watched her live rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" the other day. All these live performances are from the same show she did at Blues Alley Club in Jan 3 1996. Exactly 10 months later she passed away from Melanoma.
Paulie, I consider this one of the most epic versions of a classic song I've ever heard. This was recorded approximately 10 months before Eva passed in 1996. The tone is beautiful yet haunting. I feel a sense about what is coming for her, the emotion just palpable. The tears come every time. If you like Eva, one of her other legendary recordings is Fields of Gold by Sting. Ironically, Angelina Jordan recorded the same song within the past couple of years. There is a mashup virtual Duo of Eva and Angelina singing Fields of Gold together! It is by BigAngiefan. I think you will be enthralled by it. Peace and love.
@@PaulieReacts Angelina IS singing to Eva's version, Eva arranged it and played guitar on it, Angelina just borrowed the song for an experiment, only sang about a minute and a half of a five minute song.....
Paulie, this hits me hard, and I guess it hits you the same way. This is a grownup version, and more desperately yearning than hopeful. The last line seems so inconsolable.
Over the Rainbow, The Wizard of Oz the first time I heard this song from. Song by Eva Cassidy she is excellent singer and talented too. It's beautiful song. PaulieReacts thanks for the comments.
One of the most ICONIC Songs in America's Catalogue, thanks to Judy Garland. Often copied it belonged to her until Iz K did his version and stole some of her thunder. Then Eva came along, put her nuances on it and OWNED it. Just recently have become aware of the writers and their story regarding the song. It's beginnings are truly worth the exploration..
Blues Alley is a jazz club in DC. I went there several times during this time but was not lucky enough to catch her. She was our local girl from Oxon Hill, Maryland here. Its hard not to cry hearing this and Autumn Leaves,
I get your reaction Paulie. Eva sang this song in the most beautiful rendition I have ever heard. So sad she passed away so young, a wonderful artist. Would just like to give you a link of a wonderful mashup of Angelina and Eva singing "Fields of Gold" (Sting) created by Big Angie Fan Chris Walker, it is beautifully done and featuring two of best artists together: ruclips.net/video/Pczc6OTeNRw/видео.html.

You're very welcome and Thank you for watching, commenting and nice comment:)
What an amazing song By Eva...
I agree, or they are simply deadened by a World that has lost all heart for soul searching music.
She was a gifted talent that helped us all feel music.... We often hear music but seldom feel it.
Makes me cry every time. She is a Master Class. Check Leaves of Gold.
Rendered speechless is what she does to anyone who truly listens to her version of Rainbow. Your in very good company, my friend.

If Eva's cover doesn't touch your soul, you don't have a soul. Nice reaction.
for sure and thank you ...
Eva touches hearts and souls. Fields of Gold, Songbird, Autumn Leaves are other great songs with her.

Evas' version of Fields of Gold is much better by herself. My opinion. Sting called it the version he wished he would have done.
