the perfect reverb pedal for shoegaze & dream pop: dreamgazer pedal ruclips.net/video/mjE3woaGyl8/видео.html
dreamgazer has three blissfully ethereal reverbs: reverse reverb, blossoming reverse reverb & shallower lofi ambience reverb. each reverb is adjustable & can be blended with 'soft nostalgia,' our multi-voiced modulation.

Love learning about these pedals. I'm just getting into collecting them for a drone/ambient metal project. Thanks guys!
cheers! much more to come :) keep on dronin'
pretty sure the PN-2 is what Graham Coxon used on Oily Water... easily my fav Blur song
There is a video interview with Graham that produce like a pro did breaking down every song on modern life is rubbish and he said that oily water was actually just a std boss tr2 but they did some really cool panning with the sound post production. It's really interesting.
Link to Graham coxon explaining his sounds on modern life is rubbish.

So, I’ve just checked that as Graham def had a PN-2 on his live board, and I’d always thought Oily Water was a PN-2 too, and in the Produce like a pro he doesn’t actually say which pedal it is - just that it’s a boss trem, and considering the PN-2 was a feature on his board all through the 90s and the TR-2 wasn’t released until 1997 (4 years after MLIR came out) I think the PN-2 was the one…
I found a used PN-2 at shop in the middle of nowhere circa 1992. I have been using it ever since. I often run two amps and it is handy as a diagnostic tool. Allowing the signal to switch between 2 channels has been very useful to me.
If anyone is having trouble with noise put another Boss pedal in front of it. The preceding pedal's buffer helps takes care of it.
Bowery Electric mentioned! 🛣️
I first used this pedal after borrowing it from Jason Martin of Starflyer 59 back in the mid-90's. I did not want to give it back!
nice! it's a good one :)
Another video, another gem.
Great to see you back.
I finally got the PS3!! It arrived yesterday.
Pedal is weird lol!😂
yessss so happy you got that ps-3 haha, it's a lot of fun & of course very weird!
I was sure this was going to be about the boss GE-7. PN-2 was the 2nd pedal I ever got. Was on clearance for like $30. I love it.
funny you say that, we have some ge-7 stuff filmed ;) the pn-2 is obviously even more fun, $30 is a steal!
Nice mention of my fellow band member Roland Daum of six string malfunction. Another previous band member Adam Cooper of Alison’s Halo had one as well. We all got them around ‘92 when boss discontinued them and blew them out @ like $29.
oh nice, really interesting bit of info! some of my fave shoegaze bands are really underrated, tryna shine a light on them. i have some videos planned. please consider emailing me at pedalllpartnersss@gmail.com or insta dm. thanks! :)
You can do (some of) this on the cheap with two tremolo pedals strapped to the output of a stereo chorus or delay etc.
You lose out on any sync but gain in 'natural' width potential for a basic 'spread' that works well at low-intensities to avoid any nulls, or even more subtle to avoid any obvious modulation at all.
I only use Boss pedals, but never the tremolo/pan for some reason. I guess I didn’t want to sound exactly like a lot of my heroes.
I totally though this vid was going to be about the DD-3 because who didn't have one back in the 90's. Happy to see that it was an old fave, PN-2. I learned about the PN-2 from Catherine Wheele. The quiet section in Black Metalic was done with a PN-2 live at least during the Ferment tour. I later acquired one about 98' from a bass player who had no need for it. I used it for many years on many recordings. In 2018 I finally sold it and replceed it with the Boss SL-20 so I could still get the panning and square wave trem action plus a whole lot more. Keep up the great vidz and gaze on!
argh my ocd is getting at me for not mentioning catharine wheel haha! the dd-3 is great & it's really interesting seeing the (sometimes major) differences between boss's delay pedals. i haven't tried the sl-20 but have wanted one for a while, i've got the sl-2, but i do love the form factor of those old twin pedals!
Noel Gallagher from Oasis had one, not shoegaze but Britpop.
Do you have to have your board/amp set up in stereo to utilize panning though right? I have the tr-2 but was interested in this for the panning feature but have never tried stereo before
I'd love to read those dissertations, it sounds very interesting! Is there a way to access them??
maybe one day i'll put out a book hehe
I love the tremolo/pan effect in my sp 404 sx
yeah, some of the roland gear has some nice built-in effects!
If Neil Halstead used PN-2 , I would use PN-2 🎸 !
haha neil's a legend!
I've been watching these vids for a while. Shoegaze isn't my thing, but I get it, totally. I make dark ambient and vocal collage soundscapes. I do have a lot of pedals, though, no guitar. This is a new one on me and sounds wrong in a good way. It reminds me of a Gristliser. Another early, highly tweakable Trem style pedal. It's mostly a diy unit, made famous by Throbbing Gristle. It's difficult to actually buy one.
i'm a fan of all things ambient, always find the best bet is to max out the reverb ;) i always love finding pedals i don't know about & sharing them, a lot more to come this year!
@pedalpartners you can skimp on a lot of things but cheap and nasty reverbs are just that. Having said that, a glitchry vocal loop, through a cheap reverb, into an analogue style delay is a nice effect.
do ya'll know of any shoegaze bands that used the Boss Super Phazer PH-2? iv'e been goofing off with mine and feel that it had to have been used on some stuff i've heard before.
the ph-2 looks cool, i know robert smith from the cure used it but as tends to be the case that's just cause that's what was around at the time. a certain noel gallagher used the ph-2, as has john squire from the stone roses. from my research i haven't seen it pop up on many shoegaze boards though! phaser & modulation in general is widely used in shoegaze, perhaps my favourite being the modulation in slowdive's 'alison'. phaser wise tame impala & radiohead are two of my favourite examples of the effect, both using the ehx small stone :)
@@pedalpartners Yeah Alison is a legend in my book when it comes to Modulation or anything shoegaze. i'm relatively new to building a pedal board. Im trying to build a pedal board to best replicate the sounds of Souvlaki with a bit of a Slow Pulp twist. I just bought the Catalinbread Soft Focus Pedal and am saving up for a Vintage Boss Pitch Shifter and Boss RE-20. Do you have any suggestions when it comes to like a fuzz or overdrive pedal? i'm looking for like a loveless fuzz sound. Also do you know of any pedals with like a glitchy warp like noise?
@@Madtroid haha funny you say that. we literally designed a fuzz with shoegaze in mind. it's perfect for shoegaze glide guitar & the kind of sounds you'll hear on the channel. you can hear the *violet oscillation* here ruclips.net/video/hZXyHFWj6tQ/видео.htmlfeature=shared.
we have some glitchy stuff in the works! you might also want to check out the king of gear, one of my fave glitch pedals ruclips.net/user/shortsWl_jim349pE?feature=shared
@@pedalpartners Dang that violet oscillation pedal is rad, i play a lot of Glide guitar so that should fit perfectly with my pedal board. Do ya'll plan on restocking it soon? I checked reverb and there weren't any results so it must be pretty rare. Also thats pretty stinkin awesome that Slowdive uses one of ya'lls pedals.
@@Madtroid thanks! yeah we put out our restocks through our mailing list shoegaze.store so be sure to sign up :)
woah woah, dissertations on pedals??
yeah! had to be done! ;)
Wonder how this would some through a rocker 32
BOSS Blues Driver
Where does it go in the chain?
tremolo is a fun one to experiment with before & after effects, definitely try it out! for the pan function you'll need it at end of chain *or* use it as a kind of switcher & experiment with different effects after each output.
Boost!
Of all the zillion pedals I have tremolo is the least represented in my collection mainly cause my amps usually have better tremolo than most pedals but I do have a eqd humming bird and jhs harmonic tremolo id like to get something that does it all in one pedal but most crazy tremolos focus more on multiple waveforms and slicer effects than just providing a good range of tremolo types
tremolo is one of my favourite effects, not only to play but to listen to! i love all forms, the more extreme stuff is really cool, percussive & extreme square wave stuff but even subtle stuff too. i think it's an effect that is useful for many genres, i think it's a type of modulation that is less about taste (i.e. some people don't like chorus or flanger etc.) & more about utility, very useful for a variety of scenarios & more ageless than other mods :)
@@pedalpartners it's definitely great to combine with other effects to add dimension to say a phaser or even vibrato and I love how it can become ring modulation at its most extreme speeds I've always wanted to hear what lies beyond the top speeds and depths that are typical for most effects it's essentially the building blocks for synthesizers and that rabbit hole I backed away from a few years ago there's plenty of analog effects still available to be utilized before I start messing with the Roland synth system route that's very expensive and as far as Individual guitar synth pedals go I pretty much got rid of mostly everything except my source audio c4 synth pedal you can do everything you would ever really want with that pedal alone and I'm far from understanding all the parameters that are available.i wish I had enough time to just sit down with it and tweak every different bank of filters and stuff on it.kinda the same reason why I haven't gotten a empress zoia yet there's just not enough time in a day to learn how to program it fully
It's funny, I built a BYOC clone of a tweed tremolo circuit and it's just ok, kinda weak intensity-wise and with no options.
The tremolo in the EHX oceans11 is quite good - it does the 'rumble' to 'how soon is now' (mono) very well, and ranges quite huge-ly. Any speed from "crawling" to subsonic-AM LFO (afaik it seems to be about .2 to 20 Hz) with a square and saw, also.
Sentimental Bob Tacana is probably it
You guys have your own fuzz pedal? Maybe I should get one...
Have one- it’s great! Definitely recommend.
thanks folks! back in stock www.lifeisunfair.co.uk/product/violet-oscillation-shoegaze-fuzz
Always fancied trying the PN-2, there's definitely some cools sounds in that little green box!!
definitely pick one up! vintage boss pedals are always going up in price!
@@pedalpartners For sure, even the Behringer clone is pretty pricey these days!
definitely worth picking up the og! i don't really like (most) clones haha, the plastic enclosure just ain't it! nothing matches the originals 🤩
